S.C.G Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 *cough* back on topic... I played the demo for about 15 - 20 mins, was really enjoying it until I accidentally quit out of it >> but even just that short play pretty much sold the game for me, it is genuinely unlike anything I have ever played before... I still most likely won't pick it up on release as there is far too much coming out in November (sheesh there really is no pleasing us gamers ) but it is good to know that the game is out there, waiting for when I decide to pick it up and it will no doubt be one that I shall enjoy very much when I decide to give it the time it deserves.
Gizmo Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Just got round to playing the demo and I am very impressed. The graphics are amazing, I really do love the look of the game. The controls were much better than I expected them to be - very simplistic, and using the shoulder buttons instead of the face buttons is a very good move. Shall definately be buying this for Christmas! It it weren't for the fact I have BK reserved to get the XBLA free, I'd swap the order of them.
Guest Jordan Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Qore is just a multimedia magazine. Handy for stuff like Kratos codes and betas. Its not quite the same as demos on Live Gold. Not to mention with PSN online play is free, there are no tiers and everyone is treated essentially like a xbox live gold member. Qore is currently US only but there are plans to do something similar in the UK. This makes it much easier for limited beta access and exclusive content. So its a good idea in that sense. Its nothing like live gold though. Which is why they got the Motorstorm demo 2 weeks earlier than anyone else?
flameboy Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Which is why they got the Motorstorm demo 2 weeks earlier than anyone else? Which people in the EU could get one by applying for beta codes....I was on the demo those 2 weeks earlier... Also look at Resistance 2, Qore was just one of many ways to get a beta code for it.
Pit-Jr Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 I can see why people will love this game but i felt like i was wrestling the controller and the camera the whole time. Great concept but not for me im afraid. Also i prefer the cartoony look in the intro to the realistic graphics in the real game

Great concept but not for me im afraid. Also i prefer the cartoony look in the intro to the realistic graphics in the real game I can understand what you are saying about the controls. I felt like that at first but it soon clicked. Can't believe you prefer the flash style intro though not a fan to be honest, loses some of the scale. I don't really like the art style they have gone with for them.
gaggle64 Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 The art style I don't mind, though Alice's character in the cut scene seems rather do sombre for my taste, it seems too deliberate, pretentious perhaps, and somehow doesn't fit. This is a beautiful young woman who makes a living vaulting off thousand-foot high buildings, crack a smile for god's sake.
Cube Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Great concept but not for me im afraid. Also i prefer the cartoony look in the intro to the realistic graphics in the real game I thought the intro looked hideous.
Hellfire Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Man, the demo was sooo awesome, hope I have money to pick it up.
Dan_Dare Posted November 3, 2008 Author Posted November 3, 2008 I'm really psyched for this now. I was psyched before, but this is the mutts nuts.
Sheikah Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 This is going to be awesome lol you and your hype-machine! You can sell a game to anyone, you can. Thought of taking up sales? :p
Dan_Dare Posted November 3, 2008 Author Posted November 3, 2008 well it's true! Very, very slick stuff.
gaggle64 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 So polished you could eat your dinner off it.
Haden Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Very impressed by the demo will definatly pick this up at one point it is really exciting leaping about when you are being chased I wonder if there is a mode where you can turn the colours off like an extra hard mode.
Shorty Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Been through the demo about 4 times even though there isn't much to do think I'm secretly hoping it'll glitch and let me run over to that next jump after the helicopter part. Really enjoying it. I think I prefer it with Runner-Vision turned off. Makes it more challenging and at the same time makes you feel a bit more free.
Black Diamond Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I've pre-ordered mine (for PS3). Love the demo.
Bren Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 The demo was cool, still not convincved me to buy it on release, i think its gonna be an after xmas 2 for £40 for meh.

In the game options screen you can turn off the "Runner Vision" of which you speak, as well as the reticule. I like the runner vision myself, since they've incorporated it into the colour scheme anyway.
Ganepark32 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 When I pick this up next friday, I'm gonna have to get myself a HDMI cable for my 360. I'm currently playing through the Component cable and it looks stunning but the footage of it running in HD is amazing. Or can the component cables display in HD? Argh.... I dunno. Just know that the HDMI cable will make it look even nicer.

Ganepark32 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 ^ so not true 1080p then? Doesn't really matter. If that's the case, I don't really need to HDMI cable really. Is there much difference between 720p and 1080p to warrant the purchase of a HDMI cable?

The colour scheme is very nice and refreshing nice to have a blue sky and bright colours. I really love how the game makes you think on your feet has a very exciting feel to it. Did anyone get motion sickness btw? I didnt but I heard its been a problem for some.
gaggle64 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 That's why they've got the reticule there apparently - having a single point to focus on helps prevent motion sickness, the same way dancers always focus on one point to prevent dizziness.
