It could all be down to the 10p tax rate and Ken's association with Labour, but still. Can you imagine Boris giving a speech if there is another terrorist attack? This along with the council results seems to suggest that there is change in the air. Remember that people ONLY look at what governments do wrong, the nagtives, and although there is a lot to complain about; things would be a lot worse under the C's! A lot worse! But having a long memory about a party 30 years ago isn't exactly going to reflect what they're going to be like now. Also, Labour gave us top-up fees. The bastards. North Tyneside is now conservative controlled, doubt it will make any difference to me at all of course but still. Although I would describe myself as 'left wing' I'm not at all dissapointed that Labour did so badly, they have only themselves to blame. I do not like Gordon Brown one bit and think he is doing a terrible job at the moment as PM. Hopefully he can start to do well after this but I doubt it. In my opinion, Labour are a complete shambles at the moment and need to find some kind of identity. I am however dissapointed that Boris Johnson is now mayor of London. You watch it, in ten years we'll go the way of America and sodding Catherine Tate will be mayor of London or someone similar. Face it. Thanks to him the transport system is fantastic and it was a system that he used and supported himself, he was great at negotiating with the people of London and sadly things will now only go downhill. Care to ellaborate? And I would suggest stop reading the Daily Mail. 1) Yes governments are corrupt and yes they lie. But I'd say the two biggest offenders are the two biggest parties. If you spent 1 week in Nottinghamshire for example you would know that it is true. There are a lot of people on benefits that don't need them. In my old hometown I once saw somebody pull up into the car park in a new car that was most likely paid for with taxpayer's money. Get a walking stick out of the car, walk perfectly carrying the stick but as soon as he got into the market square he suddenly needed the walking stick. One of my cousins friend's dad is on fat waster who is on disability benefits yet there is a plaque up for him at my cousin's old primary school thanking him for putting up a fence. In the village where i go to school one of my friend's next door neighbours is on disability benefits for his bad back yet my friend saw him on his roof putting new tiles on.
