XBox 360 Price Cut - I wonder if this will influence the Wii Price...

Hi,

I just wonder if the new XBox360 price cut might influence the Wii price as well.

After all the XBox360 price is now dropping under the Wii price.

However, as long as the Wii is selling so good with the current price, I am not sure if they will relly drop the price...

Even if Nintendo is worried about the 360 competition (which I really doubt), there's nothing they can do about it as the Wii is selling as fast as it physically can.

It's possible, but unlikely right now. They're still selling them as fast a they can ship them out.

Exactly.

Nintendo's a business; they're not going to reduce the Wii price when it's still selling insane amounts.

In Euroland:

Arcade (no HDD, wireless controller, composite, 5 XLA games): €199.95

Premium (20 GB HDD, component, demos/vids/1 XLA game): €269.95

Elite (120 GB HDD, HDMI, black): €369.95

The real worthwile packages only got a €30 cut :hmm: Better than nothing still!

Premium - £190.

I doubt it will affect Nintendo's pricing strategy but I have to admit , at that price I am sorely tempted in picking one up myself. Its just a shame that around 16% of the things fail.

I can't see it happening yet, maybe when the next price drop comes. Core for £100 would give Nintendo something to think about.

On a side note, has anyone else noticed that Wii's seem to be easy to get hold of now? At work the sales have actually dropped to the point where we never run out of units. The rest of the town seems to be in a similar situation.

Im guessing this is nationwide? The bundles in shops like Game and Gamestation seem to be getting better and there's rather a lot of 2nd hand Wii's popping up, both of which indicate that the sales are dropping a bit.

Hasn't that situation changed ever since Microsoft improved the Xbox 360's manufacturing process so that it consumes less power and generates less heat?

(I'm talking about the 90nm -> 65 nm chip size reduction last Autumn).

Quite possibly.

I cannot find the original report where I got my figures from , or what period they covered.

Hope they do, they're making an absolute killing on an underpowered console with, scarcely any games worth owning.

What 360 version do you have Bardy.

I've got the Premium. Bought it for 290 almost a year ago, it was more than worth it then, and at 190, it's practically begging to be bought. And loved. You might need an adapter for that sorta thing though.
