Daft Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Anyone know how many people subscribe to Plus? I'd be interested to know. Can't wait for Thomas Was Alone.
flameboy Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Anyone know how many people subscribe to Plus? I'd be interested to know. Can't wait for Thomas Was Alone. They've never released numbers only that it's extremely profitable.
Magnus Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I wish Thomas Was Alone had been released a few days ago. Now I've already started playing Knytt Underground and need to finish that first, but I'm not really feeling it at all so far.
flameboy Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I wish Thomas Was Alone had been released a few days ago. Now I've already started playing Knytt Underground and need to finish that first, but I'm not really feeling it at all so far. What's Knytt like? I have it downloaded. The gameplay interests me but not sure what I think about the graphical style.
Magnus Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 It's just aimless wandering around so far. Someone tells you that before you can pass, you need to find one or more items, and you just wander around until you find them and can bring them back. I don't know, it's just kind of boring. I also really can't stand the writing, character design and the self-indulgent "I-will-name-every-character-after-a-friend" naming convention.
Daft Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I thought Knytt was shite. Really ugly looking game too, like it's made out of clip-art. Deleted it after 15 minutes.
drahkon Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 (edited) Thomas was alone is everything but fun and interesting. Game mechanics are incredibly boring, just jump around, switch between 'characters' and do the same thing over and over again while some English man is talking about how John wants to be nice and Thomas fucks his mom while Chris is eating a mouse with chopsticks made of barbwire (or something like that, my thoughts just wandered from porn to porn while playing). Even if the game turned into a pile of gold that would make me richer than a coke-sniffing pimp, I'd still have deleted it after 15 minutes. Just like @Daft (and myself) did with Knytt. Magnus Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 God, you're into some weird stuff. I hope it's better than what you're saying, but you never know with these pretentious indie games. Sometimes they're great, and other times you can't believe something so bad can be critically acclaimed (see: Dear Esther and Thirty Flights of Loving).
Daft Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Dear Esther...seriously can't believe anyone would willingly admit to playing that. It's dire.
Cube Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Dear Esther...seriously can't believe anyone would willingly admit to playing that. It's dire. I played it before it was cool. It was awful back then, too.
Cube Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 PlayStation+ in June could be amazing. We have the regular updates, but we also have the long term games (inFamous 2, Motorstorm Apocalypse, LittleBigPlanet 2) changing. Any guesses on what these could be? My prediction is Killzone 3, PSASBR and Uncharted 2.
dwarf Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Have there been any good local multiplayer games on the PS3? Discounting Fifa, I struggle to think of any that contend with the games on the Cube/64.
drahkon Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 A friend of mine has Sonic All-stars Ultra Mega Racing Transformers Dark Of The Moon or whatever it's called. It's great. Better than most of the Mario Kart games. Can get a bit cluttered at 4 player split screen but it's still lots of fun. A nice touch is that you can play the so called World Tour with mates. My prediction is Killzone 3, PSASBR and Uncharted 2. Killzone 3 would suck, because I bought it a month ago for 10€ at a local store, so could've saved that :p Uncharted 2 Already have it. And what the fuck is PSASBR?
flameboy Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Well Thomas was Alone is.....not a compelling gameplay experience at all. Danny Wallace's voiceover and the quotes printing on the screen discussing issues around AI are interesting. However the inane and dull block platforming makes it hard to keep motivated at all to listen to the rest of the narrative. I'd rather it was published as some kind of youtube video or a short audio "book". I'm all for the indie movement on PS3 right now but this is not one of the poster boys.

At least it was better than Knytt Underground! But yeah, I really enjoyed the narration, but the gameplay was so shallow. It's pretty neat how the game keeps introducing new types of blocks, but then it never really does anything interesting with them.

How long did it take you to beat it all in?
Magnus Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Three hours, maybe? Another reason I preferred it over Knytt Underground - it was a lot shorter.
Shorty Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Hitman weighs in at a hefty 17GB! Took about 3 minutes just to prepare the download to run in the background. Picked a good time to splash out on a new HDD though

Picked a good time to splash out on a new HDD though fucking hell really?! Definitely going to have to wait till next month (billing month so only actually until 5th) to download that. It is a continuing issue as games get bigger and bigger. Edited May 1, 2013 by flameboy
Magnus Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Just delete some junk, Flameboy. Or even better: don't download Hitman: Absolution. :p
Daft Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Sony CEO and 39 other executives give up bonuses in ‘unprecedented’ gesture It's absurd that it's considered unprecedented for executive to forgo bonuses when their company is in the red. Still, it appears more and more that Kaz was the right choice to head up Sony.
