flameboy Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 (edited) Oh indeed I've tried the demo, I really liked it. As for a bubble system: Boooooo! I a man! :P Yah like I said played it with girlfriend where it comes in handy. EDIT: Regular PSN update not too bad on the demos front pretty poor otherwise. Shorty Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Not sure which deal you missed @Ashley, but a PS3 slim 160GB is £150 at Morrisons right now.
Sheikah Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Did you get that FF title in the end Shorty? I am intrigued which...I'm going to say it was FFVII.
Ashley Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Not sure which deal you missed @Ashley, but a PS3 slim 160GB is £150 at Morrisons right now. Pre-owned 320GB for £140
Shorty Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Did you get that FF title in the end Shorty? I am intrigued which...I'm going to say it was FFVII. I did and your guess was right I've recently replayed most of the 2D ones on various consoles, I think the DS was the greatest way for me to enjoy those. I remember whiling away a 4 hour plane journey with FFIII a couple of years back. In a way I got FFVII for the same experience. It will probably never be this cheap again, and the idea of playing it on the go on a PSP one day was very appealing. (I don't actually have a PSP, but the Vita is looking mighty tempting).
Sheikah Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Have you got/played FFVIII or FFIX? The former is quite hit and miss (although my personal favourite game of all time) while the latter is universally loved. I have FFVI on GBA, I remember the PS1 version had absolute killer load times (even opening the menu). Anyone have the PSN version to confirm whether these are gone?
Shorty Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I played both when they were new. I never got more than a couple of hours into VIII, but I completed and very much enjoyed IX.
Daft Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Pre-owned 320GB for £140 I'd be shocked if you got remotely near to filling up 160GB. £150 for it is amazing.
Hero-of-Time Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Anyone have the PSN version to confirm whether these are gone? I was looking at the FF 25th Anniversary topic on Gaf and the guys on there said that the stupidly long loading times are still there. I'd be shocked if you got remotely near to filling up 160GB. £150 for it is amazing. THIS.
Ashley Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 (edited) I'd be shocked if you got remotely near to filling up 160GB. £150 for it is amazing. I currently have about 250GB of 'things' :p Clue me in on PS3s as I'm rather lagging! I currently have about £45 of instore credit at CEX so I'm leaning toward buying one from there. Although, the cheapest 160GB pre-owned is £10 more... When does this Morrisons deal end? Edited February 2, 2012 by Ashley
Burny Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I currently have about 250GB of 'things' :p Why would you need "things" on the PS3? As long as they're on a FAT32 formatted USB harddrive, you can just plug it into the PS3. If "things" include video files in .mkv-format, you can't play them on the PS3 anyway. If you need specific "things" on the PS3, you can copy them there when you require them and remove them when you don't anymore. Leave that junk off the console. Only scenario where 160GB wouldn't be enough - other than dumping not game-related stuff onto it - is that you'd buy a ton of retail games on PSN. It's just that it's often cheaper to actually buy these games at retail. :p
Cube Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I've had Playstation plus for a year, plus the two free games from the downtime. I'm still not close to filling 160GB.
Shorty Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 When does this Morrisons deal end? Not sure, apparently they're clearing Christmas stock. There's supposedly a £6 off £40 spend voucher in the Sun today, if you can bring yourself to buy it
flameboy Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 (edited) @Ashley How does £184.99 for 320GB sound? Current price on Choices: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/ps3-320gb-slim-console-inc-karate-kid-blu-ray-ps3-184-99-choices-uk-1134436 So your paying £35 over what you would get a 160 for. Edited February 2, 2012 by flameboy
Ashley Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Hmm I may go for the 160GB at Morrisons which is £144 using the aforementioned voucher. I don't really need a bigger hard drive size... I'll mull it over, thanks
Daft Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Like Burny said you can always just plug an external HDD into it via the USB. Or you could just stream everything off your computer through PS3 Media Server which is easy as pie to do and converts .mkv on the fly so it's actually better than having the files locally. That's what I do. 1080p goodness.
Ashley Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Doesn't the PS3 Media Server thing only work on Windows?
Ashley Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 It does but I'm busy and what's the point in ruling over this place if I can't make my minions do something for me (in fact I did check the other day and it seemed to be the case, I was more asking for confirmation from people I know/trusted)
Shorty Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 With PS3 Media Server being a java app it would run on damn near anything... Is it just me or is downloading from the PSN store stupidly slow? FFVII hasn't finished downloading, I should be getting 1.1Mb/s, but as I watch it (currently at 39%) my best guess would be that I'm getting about 90Kb/s :/
Sheikah Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 That's weird, I'm at my parents' house for the weekend (who have BT infinity) and the Store speed matches their line speed. I downloaded FFV since it was free and it was downloading at the rate of 1MB every half second, which is pretty damn quick.
Shorty Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 Are you on Plus? Maybe there's a speed priority thing.
flameboy Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 Are you on Plus? Maybe there's a speed priority thing. Nah I'm on plus and was suffering from stupidly slow download speeds pixel junk side scroller demo 52mb said it was gonna take 57 mins. My connection is 20megs did speed test abs it was running close to that
