Remembering why I dislike PC gaming.  Purchased Subsurface Circular and it crashes fairly often and it turns out my specs are just a bit too low.  I enjoy not having to think about that with consoles.

Just managed to get about 30 minutes out of it. If I can get another session like that I'll keep it, but if I'm still having problems think I'll ask for a refund.

Shame I didn't realise that was the problem with Night in the Woods too as I was really looking forward to that but barely been able to play 10 minutes.

Don't know where to put this but it's about a PC game so...

I've been watching GameGrumps' play through of Doki Doki Literature Club. I've heard about it and knew, well...something, not exactly what, but something which made me think: "Hm, it's probably not a game you'd play yourself."

Yeah...I've reached a certain point of the play through and I won't spoil anything but...yeeeeaaaaaaaaaahhhhh. Will watch the remaining episodes tomorrow and I really hope the Grumps will finish the game eventually.

Anybody played this?

Yeah, a few days ago.

Got the Monika ending. Monika is best girl.

For those unaware: it's a typical visual novel on Steam. And it's free.

Yeah, I made a spoilered post about it in the Gaming Diary thread, and I consider it one of my Top 3 games of 2017. I highly recommend it.

A fine dating sim. There's so much talk of literature, poetry, doki-dokis and clubs! Happy Thoughts all around. It may seem shallow at first, but the poems are surprisingly good, and things really came together after that date at the school festival.

Do not play if you are easily disturbed. Not everybody's heart can go Doki Doki.

Found out about it from Game Grumps and started looking more into and kinda spoiled myself too much to the point I don't think it's worth playing. I've been meaning to post about it here for ages but never got round to it. It's probably one of my GOTYs that that I never played.

Spoiler

Unless you've watched a full playthrough, I think it's still worth playing. Knowing the main twist ahead of time doesn't lessen what happens in-between. Not to mention some details are randomized and/or depend on what kind of poems you wrote.

Well, I think GameGrumps' play through of Doki Doki Literature Club is coming to an end.

You sneaky bitch :D To be honest, though, I've expected Monika to be behind it all soon after the first "glitch".

Now that I've watched the Episode, I know what you mean :D

The game is awesome. But I'm glad I didn't play this myself...I would've shit my pants more than once.

I'd love to see what happens if you delete Monika's file. Since it's so easy to delete characters, as Monika said, the Grumps should give it a go. If they don't, I'll just read up on it.

Huh, I was under the impression you had already played it by yourself. A shame, as it's worth playing even if you are vaguely aware of what happens. But watching a full playthrough pretty much spoils you on the details (which is what matters).

For the record, there's plenty of stuff the Grumps missed. For example, the game folder shows a few creepy files throughout the playthrough, some glitches are randomized (Projared ran into some of the creepiest ones), as are the "Special poems" (literally the first one I got was a child's drawing of Sayori's suicide, which legit made me take a break). There's also the fact that the Grumps kept choosing cutesy words, a.k.a. Natsuki's route. I did Yuri's route, so instead of that faceless neckbreaking scene I saw agoaF)&(´´~shfbÖx}R(jnevermind.

...Oh, and there's legit more than one ending to this. But I'll wait until the Grumps are done with their playthrough to elaborate. Who knows when that'll happen.

Nah, I never played it and never will. Even if I had I would've turned it off and never played again once I've reached that moment. I just can't play horror games...

That neckbreaking scene made me stop watching for a while...I couldn't handle that

Yeah, I'm looking forward to hearing/reading about the different endings.

Well...looks like the end is near, I'd say, but who knows with this fucking game

Sayori waking up on time and FriendArin being really nice to her is actually quite uplifting. Doesn't seem like she's depressed now.

Really enjoyed/enjoying the playthrough. It's kinda sad, that the Grumps will probably stop playing after they've reached an ending (assuming there are more than one). But I'll gladly read up on everything after they're done.

@Ike I'm going to steal your words: This is one of the best games I've never played :D

You were right. Deleting Monika's file was the way forward... but it's clear Arin already knew what to do, which lessens the impact. He deleted her before she was done talking, too, which means he missed a special line made just for streamers.

The rest of the game still scared the crap out of me...it even did when the Grumps' were making jokes.

Any budget minded persons interested in getting into PC gaming take note of AMDs newest APUs. 2200G and 2400G ($100 and $160 respectively). A pretty capable PC can be had for console prices.

https://www.techspot.com/article/1579-overclocking-guide-ryzen-3-2200g/

Most games 1080p between medium and very high settings with good performance.

Sadly RAM prices are just absurd and Ryzen likes its RAM, faster is better (but the gains are small). A couple sticks of memory will probably be the most costly item.
