mcj metroid Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced that PES 2008 will be released in Autumn 2007. The latest edition to the multi-million-selling Pro Evolution Soccer series will be released for PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360, PC-DVD, PlayStation®2, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) and Nintendo DS, and is primed to be the definitive football title for any format. My question is simply what n-europe has suggested on the main page. Will ISS be released instead? And if not what are KONAMI thinking. They eventually had to give in on the ds so hopefully they will on wii.
raven_blade2006 Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Sales will change their mind. Im sure that will happen if Wii keeps selling like hotcakes.
willowtheory Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 We'll probably end up getting a ps2 port with added waggle controls in about 8 months
mcj metroid Posted June 18, 2007 Author Posted June 18, 2007 It's konami though the ps3 was always going to come first.
blender Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 THis is a massive blow. The wii cannot be a mainstream console ineurope or japan now
DCK Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Well, I'd expect a Wii iteration from EA, but not Konami per se. If they don't announce it still, I'm pretty sure that Pro Evo 09 will come to Wii.
jammy2211 Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 THis is a massive blow. The wii cannot be a mainstream console ineurope or japan now Over reaction of the year.
Ten10 Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 That is strange as they pretty much always made it on to the cube (winning eleven)
UK Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Mario Strikers is an amazing game. There is no denying, however, that we will need a new football, or 'chavball' game for all those footie fanatics. Konami should realise that.
Zechs Merquise Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Konami are total shits for this. The Wii is best selling next gen console in all territories. Nintendo even bent over backwards for them and put Snake in Smash Bros, and then this happens. Sod them. I really have only contempt for them.
blender Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 I think that a waggly remote would ruin the PES brand. PES is a competitive game that implies a consistent control method across platforms. PES is not an umbrella brand like Resident evil has become. We will get a football game and it wil be called something else. Expect substandard

They Should join sega and together they can dance into the rainbow with sony.

Well, I hope all the money they pump into PS3 development is not recouped and it hits them where it hurts - in the pocket.
Goron_3 Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 FFS developers are so stupid sometimes. Don't they get that the Wii is OWNING the rest of the industry right now? 330,000 units in America this month; thats more than 360+PS3 combined. Look at japanese sales; more than everything apart from the Lite. Come on people, wake up. its cheaper to makes games for Wii and it'll sell more.
flameboy Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Like I said in the news article I put up the main site, I reckon we will see an ISS...
Fierce_LiNk Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 I think that a waggly remote would ruin the PES brand. PES is a competitive game that implies a consistent control method across platforms. PES is not an umbrella brand like Resident evil has become. We will get a football game and it wil be called something else. Expect substandard Well, there we have a dilema. How about Konami just do what was recently done with the new Mortal Kombat? Release two control methods. Wiimote controls, for the people that want them, and then traditional controls with Gamecube or classic controller. It's not rocket science, and saying "we can't figure out how to use the wiimote" is just a piss poor excuse. There is absolutely no reason why this game cannot be on the Wii, and it's hurting Konami and Wii owners. Nobody is benefitting from this.
pedrocasilva Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 So... PES is confirmed for Wii; they said they reached a point where it actually runs... so... why isn't it coming for the Wii this season? Do they expect to miss a whole year without giving a proper alternative? way to support a console Konami, and do they expect to sell them by buckloads in the following year? FFS developers are so stupid sometimes. Perhaps they don't want that, since they've spent so much on those flashy HD versions.
Shino Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Pros of developing for the Wii: - Easy to develop. - Cheap to do it. - It can be improved port of a ps2 version. - And most of all, its the best selling system. If it would indeed appear in the Wii, it might be the final blow to Nintendo's kiddy image and to Sony's ego, and a deciding point in this console war. It never makes sense, never.
mcj metroid Posted June 18, 2007 Author Posted June 18, 2007 How is a soccer game stopping nintendo having a kiddy image? I don't see the image anymore it's gone.. manhunt 2 killed it. I admit guys it's a disappointment but it was never a DECIDING point in the console war. It's on every single system including pc and ds.
Shino Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 You have no idea how huge this is here. Maybe its just Portugal (although I think not), but most people here buy a PS2 for PES only! Those are the casual gamers Nintendo wants so much. So yes, this along with racing games, its a deciding point in Europe.
mcj metroid Posted June 18, 2007 Author Posted June 18, 2007 Really? Well i know it's popular over here but not as big as GTA or need for speed both of which i am confident will eventually come to wii. Anyway i'm sure konami aren't as stupid as we think.
