Guest Jordan Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 From Go Nintendo: Wow, it looks like that move to New York/San Francisco didn’t sit well with a lot of Nintendo’s employees. Somewhere around 90% of Nintendo of America’s sales and marketing staff have decided not to follow Nintendo to the east/west, and have left the company. Senior Director of Public Relations Beth Llewelyn; Vice President, Marking and Corporate Affairs Perrin Kaplan; and Senior Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Communications George Harrison have all decided that the move wasn’t for them, and have left the company as well. They are still on active duty at this time, and it is unknown just when they will officially be gone. That’s a pretty huge change for Nintendo of America. Gaijin von Snikbah Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Nobody could spin Casamassina around like Perrin. Literally. I shall miss them dearly.
system_error Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Wow they must have had really strong ties with Nintendo .... I guess I wouldn't give up such a job - at least not when I am in a key position. Well since this is USA business I don't really care - EU marketing/sales can't get any worse hehe.
Sparko Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Awwww no, I've always liked Perrin. This is crazy though, surely Nintendo should reconsider if they're losing so much of their staff due to the move.
pedrocasilva Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I think it might be good to have new people on those posts though. George Harrison was good (as a lawyer), and AFAIK the main reason why Nintendo bought that basebal team so he should have deep ties. But Perryn knew nothing about games (realistically) and what she was doing most of the time. I won't miss her in that sense, if she's replaced by someone charismatic who knows what they're doing. I liked some of her ignorant phrases though, they were funny. It's sad to see people leaving the company apparently so easily, but... as long as we have Reggie.
Shino Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 They probably knew this would happen, no big deal, might even be good.

There are next to no people in marketing who actually understand the product/stuff they are promoting. So replacement will be easy - maybe some hot young girl. Don't bother if she ever played Super Mario Bros.
ShadowV7 Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Can't believe this.I liked Perrin and George Hope something get's sorted out.Always funny seeing Matt and Perrin talking in an interview.
conzer16 Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I'll glady relocate for them. No problem what-so-ever.

Cube Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 There will be more than enough replacements in New York..
Guest Stefkov Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Is this for real, as in solid evidence, seems like a little lie to me. If it's true then that sucks, I liked Perrin and George.

mcj metroid Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 OK then now that they are gone they can spill the beans on everything they know:)
Cube Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 OK then now that they are gone they can spill the beans on everything they know:) Its sales & marketing staff. They have no beans to spill.
My Buttons are Magic! Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I'll glady relocate for them. No problem what-so-ever. TRAITOR...lol stay strong to your irsh roots!
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 You know, MicroSofts offices are right across NOAs offices.

Zechs Merquise Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I'm not sure what if any effect this will have. Still, I think a silly move to relocate so soon after a launch. Maybe wait a few years into the console's life until things ae steady and everything is more stable.

Plus E3 will give them more than enough marketing. Its the perfect time, really.
Ginger_Chris Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 The loss of the three major executives mentioned isn't here or there, they can be replaced very easily, its the other 90% that's the problem. That's a hell of alot of experience going into the hands of other companies. I really can't see that figure being true, I can imaging 40% or 30% not wanting to move home, but not 90%. There has to be something else to this, either redistribution or Nintendo themselves letting people go. (as for spilling beans, NDAs will still be effect, whether they get fired or leave)
Excelle Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Good on them - you wouldn't catch me relocating for a job. Why should I uproot myself because my employer feels they might do better somewhere else? There's plenty more jobs out there.
