Goafer Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 (edited) Let it get through the intro, most people on here will recognise if from one of 2 places. Love it. Live: Edited March 9, 2010 by Goafer
Coolness Bears Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I love Battles - Atlas, hard. In fact the whole of that album is wonderful! I didn't realise Gorillaz - Plastic Beach was out. I'm on my second play through and it sounds SO good through my Headphones. My computer out loud doesn't do songs justice. Fortunately got them working since the other day they didn't work in either ear. They do sometimes cut out! Anyway Gorillaz is highly enjoyable thus far! : peace:
chairdriver Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I have got some business out at the edge of town Candy weighing both of my pockets down 'Til I can hardly stay afloat, from the weight of them (and knowing how the common-folk condemn What it is I do, to you, to keep you warm Being a woman, being a woman) But always up the mountainside you're clambering Groping blindly, hungry for anything: Picking through your pocket linings - well, what is this? Scrap of sassafras, eh Sisyphus? I see the blossoms broke and wet after the rain Little sister, he will be back again I have washed a thousand spiders down the drain Spiders ghosts hang soaked and dangelin' Silently from all the blooming cherry trees In tiny nooses, safe from everyone - nothing but a nuisance; gone now, dead and done Be a woman, be a woman! Though we felt the spray of the waves We decided to stay till the tide rose too far We weren't afraid, cause we know what you are And you know that we know what you are Awful atoll O, incalculable indiscreetness and sorrow! Bawl, bellow: Sibyl sea-cow, all done up in a bow Toddle and roll; Teeth an impalpable bit of leather While yarrow, heather and hollyhock Awkwardly molt along the shore Are you mine? My heart? Mine anymore? The best post ever.
Ashley Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I'm pretty sure its just the lyrics of a song, not in fact the best post ever. There was nothing personal in it
chairdriver Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I'm pretty sure its just the lyrics of a song, not in fact the best post ever. There was nothing personal in it But Ys holds so much weight, especially having absorbed Have One On Me.
Ashley Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 It's not his soul I'm worried about. MGMT - Flash Delirium Slightly different from their last album. Similarities come and go in waves really.
Razz Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Show me your divisions, I hear nothing shit about it. Nothing truly amazing either, but nothing even close to shit. The production on some, like Starry Eyed is just awful. Not to mention it doesn't have a very nice melody either. And the lyrics, my god the lyrics. "Next thing, we're touch-ing!". I'm all madonna.gif and gtfo at that point. Don't get me wrong, I like it for the most part I just feel it's a shame that it's marred by a few absolute shit bombs. Kingfisher and In California take me to rapture. Empire Ants from Plastic Beach is wonderful. It just erupts, and is so gentle at the same time. I got The Optimist by New Young Pony Club. Haven't listened yet, I almost know it's going to be awful but I don't want this confirmed as of yet. Impressions to come.
chairdriver Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I was turned off by the album artwork of The Optimist. Considering the cover to the debut album is the most brill thing. ---- I just love. Come on Professional Sweaty Widow. The end is the best bit, gasping down lead piping.
The fish Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 MGMT - Flash Delirium Slightly different from their last album. Similarities come and go in waves really. It's pretty good - I like! : peace:
chairdriver Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I'm listening to the CD PMA made for me, Tori Amos' Best Live Performances : Don't Look Upon In Anger. I'm just rocking back and forth, crying re: evoked memories of miscarriage at the performance of Juarez. NO ANGEL CAME FOR MY LITTLE GIRL. NO ANGEL CAME FOR MY LITTLE LOVE. NO ANGEL CAME FOR MY LITTLE BOY. I SAID, NO ANGEL CAME FOR MY LITTLE ONE. and then ends with that stunning note that the album version ends with. I love how she makes shows worthwhile, by making songs that would be boring live so stunning to hear. Screaming wolf at the open skys.
Razz Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I love how she makes shows worthwhile, by making songs that would be boring live so stunning to hear. Screaming wolf at the open skys. She turned Can't Get You Out Of My Head into an chillingly haunting Ice Beam that's super effective regardless of opposing type, leaving you so frozen that no number of Ice Heals or Aspear berries can thaw you out. Plus she'd have mean looked you, so you can't even escape, you just have to sit their and take it like a bitch until you finally succumb. SET ME FREE.
Paj! Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 (edited) I'm not a huge fan of that cover actually...(I like the Set Me Free bit though). --- Also. Recent acquisitions that have the promise of burying me. (yes) Edited March 11, 2010 by Paj!
Ashley Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Danger and Jeffree Star in the same post? How disgusting! (I loathe JS)
Paj! Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I just love how crass it all is. And his new album has some good pop stuff that is a lot better than the stuff on the charts atm (not explicit). But then it's got a lot of "..." stuff too. I laugh everytime I hear this one. Just the chorus. And of course We Want Cunt. Classic. :p
Ashley Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I dunno, to me he just seems crass in a juvenile way. "Oh look at me, I said the word cunt!" If I want crass I'll listen to Louis XIV because at least its a bit more poetic ("back on the carpet, legs on the couch. All you wanted was my love in your mouth.") He (JS) reminds me of another band Jodie used to listen to. I always want to say Avenue Q but I know (think...) its not as thats the puppet thing. But they did have one memorable line "if you don't fuck me now I'll have to masturbate". (and all this loosly reminded me of the fact last I heard an academic paper (or even book) called "Some Cunts Have Teeth" (based on the vagina dentata myth) was being written. Should follow that up with my lecturer, would actually like to read that </mental note>)
SPAMBOT4000 Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 This week I have mostly been listening to Gorillaz: Plastic Beach. It's great. Probably their best album. Lots of GROWERS. It all goes downhill a bit after 'On Melancholy Hill' though.
Paj! Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 (edited) Although poetic-suggestive sexuality is in tonnes of stuff. I find his stuff humourous. P.S I want to live my life as someone who partakes in things like this. Edited March 11, 2010 by Paj!
dan-likes-trees Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 It's not his soul I'm worried about. MGMT - Flash Delirium Slightly different from their last album. Similarities come and go in waves really. Also known as MGMT of Montreal. Like it though I guess, good build through the track. Massively different than their first album I reckon.. -- Still completely obsessed with Empire State of Mind, in other news, even if I am still many months late for the party
chairdriver Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 (edited) The Execution Of All Things by Rilo Kiley is just so good. It just feels perceptive. As though Jenny Lewis knows. Let's get together and talk about the modern age. All of our friends were gathered there with their pets just talking shit about how we're all so upset about the disappearing ground. As we watch it melt... Jenny Lewis feels so incongruous. She feels like she has no presence and no fame/say in anything, but everything she's ever done (apart from the last Rilo Kiley album Under The Blacklight, which is a bit "...", but still OK) is brilliant. Her solo album Acid Tongue just feels really accomplished, and understated, which is a good quality in this case. She's one of those artists you feel proud to be a fan of, because she's great. ----- Never before have I loved so much. Never before. It's just like they know mine and Paj's humour. Saying stunningly random things, and just stunning everytime they present themselves. Edited March 12, 2010 by chairdriver Automerged Doublepost
chairdriver Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Lady gaga is looking like Madonna here. Yeah, obvious reference to a past great. I'm just stunned by the audacity of huge; The fact that Lady Gaga makes no compromise.
Razz Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 (edited) It's definitely a different experience from the song itself. I love the "Let's make a sandwich!" and the fact Buck's Pussy Wagon transcends universes in the name of revenge. Not enough blood for The Bride, but she'd be proud. EDIT: Also, the list of fictional toxins made me smile. There's Dune, Star Wars, Command & Conquer all nodded at. Edited March 12, 2010 by Razz
