Paj! Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 I was like "Sweeeeet." *makes face* Yeah, you really say that a lot. Lordi, sayings are rubbing off on you. I'm hardly one to talk though. ---------- I bought The Adventures Of Ghosthorse And Stillborn by CocoRosie today, and I love it. I DL'd (for free) "Enjoyed: A Tribute to Bjork's Post". It's mostly crap, but the It's Oh So Quiet and You've Been Flirting Again covers are ok.
Sanchez Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Avril lavigne is so far up her ass that it would be easier for come out her mouth again. I have a stack of about 200 of the exact same thing sitting on my desk, which the girl at the front of the gig gave me. She was like "Here have a free bookmark." Then I was like "Can I have several? I like to read books." Then she said, "Here, have the whole pile". Woah, can I get one?
Roostophe Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 I was just listening to In Your Honour. I have to say, Disc 1 has some of the worst songs Foo Fighters have ever done... ...but Disc 2 has some of the best songs they've ever done.
Paj! Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Currently listening heavily to PJ Harvey, in particular, Uh Huh Her and Is This Desire? Also Cocorosie, The Kills and Be Your Own Pet.
Slaggis Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Is this the most retarded thing...ever? A Britney Spears song (well, a couple of sentences of lyrics) just made me realise something about myself/life. It's a little pathetic I had to have a song, a Britney song at that, spell it out for me. -- I bought "From the Choirgirl Hotel", I'm going to give it a listen whilst doing some of my english work.
chairdriver Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Is this the most retarded thing...ever? A Britney Spears song (well, a couple of sentences of lyrics) just made me realise something about myself/life. It's a little pathetic I had to have a song, a Britney song at that, spell it out for me. Which lyrics, and what did you realise?
Slaggis Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Which lyrics, and what did you realise? It was just I realised I'm completely fed up of being told what to do, and how to do it, by everyone around me. My family telling me to do this (i.e go to this university, study this course, don't complain), my friends telling me to do that and me actually running around doing it for them. And then when I'm finally doing things I want to do, I'm either doing them wrong or not doing/being what people want me to. I'd like to be able to be me, without people ranting constantly. Lol. That sounds retarded, but (*new attitude*) I don't care! :p -- I'm loving this album so far! I think I need to listen to Paj more often. -- Question! Song covers. What are people's favourites?
Dan_Dare Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Hurt by Jonny Cash, All Along The Watchtower by Hendrix and hounds of love by the futureheads
chairdriver Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Genie In A Bottle by Speedway The Boys by Dragonette (Cover of Calvin Harris' The Girls) Umbrella by Tegan and Sara Come On Eileen by Save Ferris amoungst others.
Gizmo Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Some that spring to mind; Nirvana - The Man Who Sold The World Muse - Feeling Good Senses Fail - Institutionalized
Dan_Dare Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 I forgot 'Take me to the river' by talking heads. Genius.
Dyson Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Me and a mate were feeling the blues earlier. Shame about the clipping, other than that, was great I'm really into the Wombats at the moment, I borrowed the album off a mate and really like it. I love Backfire At The Disco, a friend sent it to me, great track. Question! Song covers. What are people's favourites? My version of I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor. It's on my myspace.
Oxigen_Waste Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Rivers Of Babylon by Sublime. Hurt by Johnny Cash. All of Cat Power's The Covers Record.
weeyellowbloke Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 I forgot 'Take me to the river' by talking heads. Genius. Love you. Some off the wall choices but how about: Grace Jones-She's Lost Control The Edgar Broughton Band-Dropout Boogie/Apache Nick Cave and Shane McGowan-What a Wonderful World Al Green-I Want to Hold Your Hand The Slits-Heard it Through the Grapevine Dead Kennedy's-Viva Las Vegas Yellowman-Swing Low, Sweet Chariot (under the title Carry Us Home) The Fall-Jeruselem
Paj! Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Fuck! I just had a cover i loved in my head, but now i've forgotten it. All of Strange Little Girls by Tori Amos. Covers should be re-imaginings or reinterpretations, which this cover album does completely. Ever heard Neil Young's Heart Of Gold as an E-fueled electro-rock anthem? Also all of Covers by Placebo. Daddy Cool.
killthenet Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 The Edgar Broughton Band-Dropout Boogie/Apache The Slits-Heard it Through the Grapevine The Fall-Jeruselem Damn right. Didn't know you were into Edgar Broughton, they're one of the only decent exports from where I live.
chairdriver Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 I love when people know the truth about music. Pitchfork reviews Joan As Police Woman's Real Life I just love that album so much. It feels so funny that she was Jeff Buckley's partner. I never knew.
Dyson Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 No, it's not, you might love it, but it's not "love".
Oxigen_Waste Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 No, it's not, you might love it, but it's not "love". Yes it is. When you fall in love, you're falling in pitchfork. Their synonims. Lol, I kid, yes, I love it, for their ruthlessness and demanding when reviewing music. Plus, for the fact that they're almost always right.
