mr_bogus
I got Scaler on import from videogamesplus, don't think it got a PAL release on the cube, but it's really good - lots of jumping, tongue flicking, smacking, grinding on vines, transforming into other animals, etc. So i was wondering, since we all know the popular 3D platformers on the cube - Mario Sunshine, Sonic Adventure, Billy Hatcher etc, which of the lesser known platformers do you own and how would you rate them? Did anyone ever play platformers like Vexx, Kao, Tak, Ty, etc?
nekunando
I remember my friend got Ty and I saw him play through the first half hour of it or something.. didn't look particularly good

Zechs Merquise
It's funny, those games you mention are just ones that I find it so hard to imagine anyone getting excited about. I just can't imagine a kid begging their mum for a copy, or anyone buying a magazine to read the preview. They just seem so underwhelming it hurts! mcj metroid
well it was the lack of marketing really. Acclaim was on it's last legs there. i Bet all of those games are better than sonic adventure ha:)

Anakenobi
There were plenty. The Spongebob and other Nickelodeon games. I sometimes had to play those games to help my young cousins get through some tricky parts. Some levels are just a bit hard for small kids. welsh_gamer
I played Wallace and Gromit in Project Zoo on the Cube, and it was very enjoyable. One or two frustrating moments but still a fun game that lasted a few days A friend of mine also rates the first Ty game highly.
Adrian DX
If I ever find Vexx in a store I will buy it.. Or maybe I'll import a cheap US version from eBay.. I always wanted to try Vexx out, that main char. looks so cool
Teppo Holmqvist
Here is probably worst and most obscure 3D-platformer ever. Behold the majesty of Bubsy 3D!
Mr_Master_X2
Get... Metal Arms; Glitch in the System (sure it has plenty of shooting and stuff, but it's still a 3d platformer too) Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy (plenty of puzzles, adventure Zelda-style and platform bit. Okay this is more adventure, but...) Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 1, 2 & 3 (I really love these games. True platformer Mario 64 style the first one, then changes for the second more like the later Jak games. Be aware the 3rd one never got a UK release, so I haven't yet got it). Vexx (Done like traditional Mario 64 3d platformer. ie. hub level leading to lots of vastly different levels that you can select which objective to do for a "star/shine/whatever", collect 100 of an item for one too, boss every couple of levels type thing. Cartoony, but much darker and grittier graphics. Be aware though, getting everything is very hard, and the last boss is a complete and utter ****ty bastard). Kao the Kangaroo (Typical Mario 64 style 3d platformer. Incredibly easy, even for getting 100%. Still a heckuva lot of fun though.). Pacman World 2 (Really good too, has lots of colectibles (in the form of Pac fruit/pills etc. Incredibly long levels, etremely tricky to get everything too. Pacman World 3 is out too and cheap, and is supposed to be better, though I have not played it.) I have had more, though my memory is foggy at the moment. If I think of anything else, I'll post ya here.

mr_bogus
Was Bubsy 3D actually finished? Those look like beta shots! I loved Sphinx, thought it was so underrated. If you play it you can see they really put a lot of work into that game. Anyone tried Super Monkey Ball Adventure?

Shorty
Vexx was actually a decent game, the movement and fighting systems were very fluid and the puzzles not bad. It was quite hard and unforgiving though.
Retro_Link
I've never played it but Rocket: Robot on Wheels is meant to be good isn't it? Also, Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 are awesome games!!

People who think those two games are 'awesome' are clearly only saying so because they are Sonic games, had a new franchise come along and been plagued by so many issues as those two games were it would never have survived. I played the 2D games and wouldn't slate them as much as he said (although in those days i probably didn't notice things like how well you can control landing after jumps) but the 3D game does just look unfinished - as though the texture artist walked out 25% into the project or something! I have no 'loyalties' to Sonic, I just really enjoyed the games!

Mr_Master_X2
I always loved the two Sonic Adventure games. Though they were the Dreamcast versions (never had the Cube versions). Loved Mario Sunshine, though for some reason my brother hated it. He got brainwashed reading how it was horrible and such, expecting to hate it and never gave it a chance. Yeah, there is a problem there in that some people will fall into a mindset of hating a game long before they ever play it and never give it the chance it deserves. Sunshine is a classic example, as it's an awesome game. Personally I think the name hurt it too.
