O_o!! more pics GC vs. PS2 vs. PC: http://www.hidebehind.com/50BCB515 http://www.hidebehind.com/65F336B8 http://www.hidebehind.com/3E0E5380 http://www.hidebehind.com/C2362CC8 http://www.hidebehind.com/45B7A0B4 http://www.hidebehind.com/33644324 http://www.hidebehind.com/BE193751 PC(above) vs PS2(bottom): http://www.hidebehind.com/5CBD1279 http://www.hidebehind.com/ECAAB460 http://www.hidebehind.com/31F44E7E PC version looks like an old, black and white movie with no perception of depth due to the lack of highlights and shadows. While the gameplay during the daytime is bearable, the absence of shadows and lights becomes a real issue during the night: Source http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/adventure/residentevil4/show_msgs.php?topic_id=m-1-33448062&pid=931851
The Bard Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 GC version still looks the best. PC version looks a bit darker and moody though. Ha, forgot how awful the PS2 version looks
UziT Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 lmao PS2 version, I played on the GC now i really want the PC one =D
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Christ that looks ugly. And the PS2 version was the best one by miles. It was the same game + extra content that boosted the game lenght by at least ten hours. I lamayoed at all the people making fun of the PS2 versions graphics when it was first shown, whilst complaining about people prefering graphics over gameplay in the mainstream Fun times.
Fierce_LiNk Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 I think the PC version arguably looks the best out of the 3.
Zell Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Based on that screenshot: gc > pc > ps2. While some of it looks fairly nice some of it looks horrible, like the laser beam looks horrible compared to the gc version.
Solo Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Really you think so? GC looks by far the best. The PC version doesn't even have any lighting!
Fierce_LiNk Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Really you think so? GC looks by far the best. The PC version doesn't even have any lighting! But then it looks 'darker'. A tad more "Resident Evil-y" if you get what I mean. Look at the house, looks great, imo. Looks run down.
Dante Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 I think the PC version arguably looks the best out of the 3. Your joking right? More here.
Fierce_LiNk Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Haha, now it looks horrible. But in the first specific screenshot, some parts of the PC version look better. The fact that it looks darker than the rest makes it seem more horror-movie-ish. I think the house in particular looks miles better than the other two versions.

The PC version is PS2 port with no realtime lighting/shading, bloom, and lots of details and added very sharp textures. Stupid Ubisoft. example:
Marshmellow Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 wow, i was actually thinking about picking this up but no way now i'll stick with the GC.
pedrocasilva Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 RE4 on PC is just a PS2 port that allows bigger resolution as is able to do more frames per second, but it still has textures with half the resolution of the GC one, that and 8 bit color instead of 24 bit; it actually also uses less particle effects than PS2 had, there's no fog or even blur to be seen, let alone GC effect like light scattering shaders and volumetric fog, leon's lantern being a light focus by itself, etc etc (endless list, really); there's not even bump maps on this one. The cutscenes are also FMV's now like in the Ps2 version, in GC they were in-game. GC: PS2: PC: GC: PS2: PC: GC: PS2: PC: look at the car, it actually lost polygons over the PS2 version there, there's no horizontal polygon detailed line now, and the texture seems to have been changed for another, more dirty and less detailed. Horrible port that's all I have to say.
Tellyn Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 The PC version is PS2 port with no realtime lighting/shading, bloom, and lots of details and added very sharp textures.Stupid Ubisoft. example: Didn't Capcom make it? Or has development switched for this second port?
pedrocasilva Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Didn't Capcom make it? Or has development switched for this second port?Just like Onimusha 3 and Devil May Cry 3 PC versions this was actually ported by (a small team at) Ubisoft.
Domstercool Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 The Cube one certainly looks the best, but the PS2 is really fine when you actually see it moving. PC one though, seems that it got screwed over. Does the PC one have the bonus content that the PS2 version had?
Hellfire Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 I think it does, but it's not like it was very worth it, considering the inferior controls and graphics. Specially the controls.
Guest Jordan Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 What the hell were the devs thinking? The aiming/shooting is a disgrace on PC, why the hell doesn't it have mouse support?!
Domstercool Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 What the hell were the devs thinking? The aiming/shooting is a disgrace on PC, why the hell doesn't it have mouse support?! Lazy porters probably didn't think of it! They're that lazy
Fierce_LiNk Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 How the hell do you aim then, if you don't use the mouse?
Dante Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 How the hell do you aim then, if you don't use the mouse? By using the arrow keys Fierce Link.
Bogbas Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 By using the arrow keys Fierce Link. I'm having a duke3d flashback here...
Goron_3 Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Nice to see that the Gamecube version still looks the best. So so good.
The Bard Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I played the extras on the PS2, and it much rather have the accuracy of the cube and the graphics over that half arsed "separate ways" thing, GC version is and always will be the definitive version. Funny how the PC version looks like a PS1 game though isn't it
