Calza Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 I know this topic is for the Wii version, but can you buy the 360 version on its own? (ie with no guitar). Since Rock Band is looking increasingly to not come out until next year (unless I want to buy the full bundle, which I don't) I'm thinking of getting this too. While some of the songlist doesn't really impress me, there are some good ones on there, and there surely cant be anything worse than PsychoBilly Freakout from GH2. Yeah you will be able to buy it on it's own. I've seen play.com have it with just the game. Imo DLC is a big think, maybe not for Guitar Hero but Rock Band will have full albums to download such as Nevermind so I reckon Nintendo really need to sort something out.
Dyson Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Guitar Hero 3 tracks on expert here finally And oh my god. Raining Blood, Number of the Beast, KNIGHTS OF CYDONIA... http://uk.youtube.com/user/pdtecrj They all look impossible. As in, harder than GH2's expert.

Dyson Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Yep, that's my worry too. Might do some internet ordering instead..I imagine it'll be quite popular. I also know how hard it is to find GH2 around here, and that's on two platforms. This is on 4 ><

James_banned Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 You can only play Bloc Party and The Strokes in co-op? Well I'm bummed.
Cube Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 You can only play Bloc Party and The Strokes in co-op? Well I'm bummed. "Co-op Encore" seems to be different to co-op - there are videos of "The Metal" in Co-op/battle/whatever.
Dyson Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Are there videos of solo play songs that have been marked "Co-op encore"? As in, single player?
Guest Jordan Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Co-op encore songs are simply songs you play instead if you're playing co-op... I'd guess. But you know, with online and local co-op its not like you have much of an excuse
pedrocasilva Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Interview: WN: Tell me more about the Wii version of the game -- are there differences between that and the other versions? Alan Flores: The Wii version is a pretty close version to the Xbox 360 version of the game. One thing that is lacking is that it doesn't have support for downloadable content. But it's got a lot of other cool features that are implemented through the Wiimote. The Wiimote will vibrate when Star Power is ready, and it'll give out speaker noise when you miss a note, and lots of cool little features through that. And it will be online playable as well. (...) WN: I do want to ask about the Wii. Since when has it been in the plan, that you were going to have a Wii version? The entire time? LG: From a Guitar Hero III perspective, definitely. From a GHII perspective it was never in the plan. The Activision way on this kind of franchise is take it to as many people as you can so everyone can enjoy it. A lot of this stuff depends on your support from the first-party guys. Software's one thing, but on the hardware side you're dealing with a whole different bunch of challenges. The thing is, it's so big now that Nintendo, who historically don't license out many input devices -- I can't remember them licensing out an input device. They're not really set up for that kind of stuff. It's amazing, when Guitar Hero comes into town, they really supported our product, getting it done, getting it done right. WN: Was it easy to get done? LG: Technically it was easy for us to get done. After going through the whole thing with the Japanese mechanical engineers, getting them to understand things, it was relatively easy. They're very good. I've got to say: I come from a historic accessory background, where I've dealt with all the first parties in the past, and I have no favorites. I have favorite drinking partners at them. But they're all very good. Makes our job easier. Source: http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/10/interview-guita.html Another: Charles Huang: We wanted to make Guitar Hero more mass market. To do that we had to be of course on Wii, which is the one of the great mass-market platforms. You have to be on PS2, PS3, and 360. And you have to be worldwide. And you have to do things like -- if you look at the Guitar Hero III soundtrack, for the first time, we have non-English songs. We have German songs, we have Italian songs, we have French songs. It'll be on every version; if you buy it in North America you'll get those as well. We're trying to get more mass-market, more global. That was our strategy from the beginning. (...) WN: How many downloadable songs do you think you'll have by the end of the year? CH: We try to balance -- the tough thing about downloadable content is that now that we're shipping on all four platforms, we'd like to do downloadable content, but on 360 and PS3 for instance you'll probably have a high percentage of users online. But on PS2, nobody's online. And you go to Wii, that whole strategy's not even put together. So you don't know how many people are online on Wii. So you might be able to get some great songs, but the only place you'll be able to reach a Wii audience, if you're a Wii user and you put out great DLC, you'll say, put them on disc, because that's the only way I'll be able to get them. (...) WN: How important is the Wii SKU in the overall package? Do you see it outselling the PS3 and 360 versions? CH: The demographic is a great match. The casual game audience is a great match. Wii is very important, because Guitar Hero, we've always thought of it as a casual game for the masses. Which is why we're on PS2 -- I always joke, we were at TGS and had a meeting with Kaz Hirai from Sony, and I said, we'll probably be the last game that ever releases on PS2, because when PS2 drops in price, the guy that buys PS2 in year seven, at that point in the lifecycle, is not a hardcore gamer, is not buying first-person shooters or role-playing games. They're buying casual games and that hits right in our sweet spot. So we're going to ship on PS2 as long as they're shipping PS2s, and we'll be the last title, I joked to him, that will ever ship on PS2. Wii, we feel similar, in that we feel like it's such a great fit for that audience that we're going to push what we can on Wii. The traditional knock on Wii has been that Wii is a great platform for Nintendo software, very difficult for third parties. I think we're making a lot of progress on that. If Nintendo keeps doing what they're doing in terms of worldwide customer support and install base on Wii, I think it'll be a phenomenal platform. Maybe not for every piece of software, but for us and for Guitar Hero. Source http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/10/guitar-hero-i-1.html Seems like downloadable content is gone, or is it just not ready for launch as stated previously?
jammy2211 Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 I guessing PS2's won't have DLC in Europe either?
