Most Overrated Game Series?

Spinter Cell probably does the actual stealth mechanics better. Seriously though it's about the overall package of the game and boy does MGS give you some great fantastic gaming overall, same with Final Fantasy.

 

I also have to agree with the other guy in the thread who said Tomb Raider. That series is SERIOUSLY UTTERLY overrated. I never understood why they were so popular on the PSX. The controls were awful, alot worse than Resident Evil. Atleast the stuff in RE was based around the controls. Tomb Raider just wanted you to waggle walk towards the end of a cliff, turn around like a tank, or in some crazy arsed arc.

I quite liked the Tomb raider games on the PSX but god the controls where infuriating.. i can remember the ammount of times i fell to my death thro no fault of my own... many many time i can tell ya.

Hmm yes, I may overrate smash bros because it's the only multiplayer I can still play now without getting bored, yet I'll say the series isn't overrated by the masses, which Halo is.

 

I'll also say that more good games came out for the gamecube than the xbox, in my opinion, and because of that Halo stood out more.

 

And yes I like smash bros, insult me and think less of me, if you give a shit.

 

PS I'll repeat what gaggle said in that if there's a better RPG franchise than Final Fantasy, name it.

Okay, it isn't the only decent multiplayer, but generally I believe that offline multiplayer games were worse this gen than the n64 era.

Hehe, Nice to know you use Nightmare, him and Maxi are the characters I specialise in. With Maxi I'd kill you with my neverending combo, wouldn't let you land . I'm particularly good at parrying too, so Nightmare would be a mistake.

Yes yes okay, I take it back. GC did have good multiplayer. F-Zero, Timesplitters and Soul Caliber were all brilliant. Totally irrational coment by me .

 

Loads of people use Nightmare? Niice. Although The best characters I use are Mitsurugi and Cassandra (although I reckon if you mastered Ivy you would be unbeatable).

Mitsurugi. Hehe, bens main character. I give him such a whupping . I like Soul Calibur because it plays so differently to Tekken and Street Fighter, you have to block and then rush in with a totally relentless attack. With tekken and street fighter, you just have to dance around outside your opponents range and hope they make a mistake.

Halo for me, I got an xbox not long ago on the cheap and got both Halos and can safely say its only worth getting for the multiplayer

It's god damn smooth. The only thing I could ever see getting tedious to anyone about it is the cutscenes (I enjoy them; extremely well scripted and directed), and if you're buying it for the story... you can actually complain about it?
