  1. I believe that the default interface colours are quite dark, but there are a number of preset colour schemes that lighten it up a bit without being too garish. I *think* that's called UI painting and it seems to have gone the way of the dinosaur in Vista, along with that horrible window pasting that sometimes happens when an app isn't responding (looks like multiple copies of the window are all over the desktop when you move the window about). Not sure about all this, none of it rings a bell though It's difficult to say really as there is a lot going on behind the scenes for developers and as a precursor to later OS versions, however as an upgrade from XP it doesn't feel too different which is both a curse and a blessing. I'd still recommend it over XP to anyone with 1 Gig of ram or more but my personal opinion is that this OS is really just setting the scene (such as the new driver implementation and back end) for the next major OS which is supposed to be a lot more revolutionary for the end user.
  2. They've apparently filmed 3 alternative endings for this series, so it's still up in the air as to who will stay/go.
  3. yep, i got it today too. Nothing new in the catalog yet though
  4. We'd better, or i'll be sending some of NoE to a real life trauma center.
  5. Thanks for adding me marsh! I'm being picky now but could you please lowercase my gamertag name... i don't like shouting!
  6. This could go either way for me. I enjoyed KOTOR to a point but it didn't grab me too much for some reason. Looks pretty though, I just hope it doesn't take itself too seriously and is actually fun to play.
  7. And the long answer?
  8. So, it's ok for apple to charge what they like for a mac because "people are buying macs" regardless of price(2.5% market share approx). But it's not ok for microsoft to charge what they like for vista, and in whatever way they see fit? (20 million sales in first month)
  9. When the computer and OS in question is twice as expensive as equivalents?
  10. Can I buy a mac without OSX and just run boot camp or parallels so I can choose my OS? Third party hardware is much more limited than PC the vast majority of PC hardware works without setting up these days too. Extra hardware can't possibly just work 100% of the time for 100% of all users, granted the sucess rate of installing new hardware is probably much higher for macs than pcs but some of this success can be attributed to the fact that mac users are generally more computer savvy than the average user so are less likely to do something daft. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of macs and would love to buy one eventually (lack of space in house and money in bank are stopping me) but the fact is that when you buy a mac, you are also buying OSX (no bad thing) and are therefore restricted in the amount and variety of software you can use from day one, especially free quality software, and are paying a premium for the privalage with no budget options.
  11. Yep, it cost me £0 (legally too) as I was given it via work. I'm not sure how certain mac users can cope going to Tescos to do thier weekly shop, what with all those options of different kinds of baked beans, crips, peas and whatnot. Maybe they have special shops that only stock one kind of each product so that they don't all fall over in a heap trying to choose what's best for them! Similarly, I'm sure the bods over at microsoft would enter a tesco extra, go to the beans aisle and complain that there wasn't a tin that contained exactly the right number of beans that they require and there should be more choice for them.
  12. How does that work then? You select which bit version you want to install while upgrading?
  13. They seem to have a vendetta against Hero-of-Time though... wonder what he did to them?? "Looook, Adam!" /stabs
  14. So some banned people are on that list but not me? It's ok, i'll just play with my star wars figures on my own in the corner....
  15. Microsoft produces all the different versions for all the different types of user that require the Windows OS: Students, Office Workers, Enthusiasts, Developers, Media Consumers, Light Users etc etc. OSX only needs one edition because there's only one type of OSX user: Elitist Smug Posers that create websites for their cats. I'm joking btw.
  16. Installed it at work. It asked for my proxy username and password so i entered them hit login crashed to desktop Uninstalled Now i understand that it's beta but most enterprise level beta applications i've used at least get past the login screen!
  17. Not sure if you've seen this but... I want to see this film too! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0390884/
  18. I'll let you do the next one then. (Most likely when mine goes!)
  19. Next week's is supposed to be even better than last week's, according to the few that have seen it, good times!
  20. ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST!
  21. Maybe, but that's not how I wanted to play it and it's definitely not how my gf wanted to play it. I'm all for difficulty in games where appropriate but adding the limited single save system just made the game unplayable to me. For me, games are meant to be fun first, anything that is added that decreases the overall fun level shouldn't be in there. In my opinion, the save system and the real-time events nonsense reduced the fun i could have with the game. If i was in charge of Dead Rising 2 i would keep lots of things the same but have all the bosses and survivors start when you come across them, and have a save anywhere system. Once the game is completed, a real time option could be available that plays similar to the first game for those that want to play that way.
  22. Manhunt will be the first original title however so will be a better indication, sales wise, of how well an 18+ title can do on the Wii. Publishers can't say that sales weren't as high as expected because people had already bought it on another system.
  23. I'm going to buy Manhunt in order to boost sales so that hopefully developers release more 18+ titles on the system. This is similar to why I'll be watching the new transformers movie at the cinema, so that hopefully it'll do well and they'll begin making the Thundercats movie!
  24. looking at the video review, the mansion level looks exactly the same as the mansion level in tomb raider legends, is that the case?
  25. I'm with you on the Dead Rising thing, the trailers showed the player running around doing funny and gross things to zombies, yet if you did those things you'd run out of time and fail the story. I hope the sequel keeps all the zombie crushing but removes all the time limits and the stupid save system.
