Zelda: Symphony of the Goddess tour finally comes to the UK this May!
Dcubed replied to Dcubed's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I think it's safe to say that 99% of people going there will be bringing a 3DS with them (The last symphony was a goldmine for streetpasses!) -
Got it and it's more or less exactly what it says on the tin. It's almost surreal playing a late Wii game on a handheld! (even more surreal when the instruction manual keeps mentioning that it used to be a Wii game) Feels great to have another quality sidescroller on the 3DS (even if it is a re-release), there aren't enough of them for sure. 30 FPS is disappointing sure, but it hasn't really impacted the playability so far for me (and it does look fantastic in 3D - I always knew it would do, it was always meant to be seen in 3D! )

Unless it's related to this But nah, I reckon it'll be a new IP and that's a good thing. As has been rightfully pointed out, new Rare is a completely different company from the Rare/Rareware we knew and loved, so it's better to see them forge their own path rather than chase their lost legacy.

I don't think that their definition of "historic" is quite what you guys have in mind... This was a slide from the Xbone reveal presentation... And if we zoom in on that highlighted picture... There's a screenshot of a game starring an Arthurian knight, with a Rare logo on the top right...

Interesting... (ignore the crazy language, it's his shtick) http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=561137 This guy (who has leaked dozens of things over the years on the site and has never been wrong with his leaks) has mentioned that Smartglass integration is mandatory at a "core feature" level for all Xbone launch titles... Edit: He also claims that Dead Rising 3 (another game he leaked earlier on) has now been snatched up as an exclusive by someone... One of Microsoft's 8 exclusive titles perhaps?

Oh hey, finally got myself a Wii LAN adapter so I can now use the Packet Relay Tools with the 3DS version. I've not heard anyone online give their impressions so I thought that I'd share mine as well as some discoveries that don't seem to be well known... In short it's awesome! You actually connect to the same servers as the Wii U version, so you can play online with Wii U players completely seamlessly! The online game interface is exactly the same as with the console version of the game, with all the same chat features etc (it was updated to support off-TV play support as well, so no TV is needed either ) What is also nice is that with that wired connection in place, you can now access the Home Menu apps like Miiverse/web browser/eshop etc while the game is running and it does not interfere with the 3DS connection at all, it all works perfectly. Super slick! Soooo much better than Adhoc party on the PS3!

Nothing, but they don't really have a choice here. The BD Drive is far too slow for the amount of RAM in use by the console. Assuming that it would use a 6x (27MB per sec) BD Drive like the PS4 (Wii U uses a 5x drive) and that 5GB of RAM is usable for games as is rumored, it would take just over 3 minutes to completely fill the RAM. Now obviously this would be far too long to wait for a game to load, so they have to require HDD installations, where you have a read speed of about 100MB per sec on average (making for a maximum load time of around a minute now, but most games will not fill the RAM fully with each load). PS4 will require the same thing cause it's gonna be even worse there with having even more RAM to fill! The internal HDD is 500GB and non replaceable. USB 3 is supported. So they can reduce the amount of bandwidth being used up by huge 25GB+ downloads, reduce the time people have to wait for games to download and have a presence in retail stores (though with the anti-used games system in place, that probably wont last long ) Because EA demanded it and yes, you'll lose access to your single player games if the network goes down. It also means that once MS eventually shut down the servers in the future, your entire XBONE collection will be turned into glorified coffee coasters!

What Does the XBOX ONE Reveal Mean for Nintendo?
Dcubed replied to Zechs Merquise's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Nah, this'll hit the mainstream media for sure. The Daily Mail and The Sun will roast the console alive -
What Does the XBOX ONE Reveal Mean for Nintendo?
Dcubed replied to Zechs Merquise's topic in General Gaming Discussion
No chance. You can bet your arse that the always online requirement and anti used game system will definitely turn off mainstream consumers. They will expect to be able to share and sell their stuff and when they hear that they can't do that, they wont want to invest in something that they can't get rid of. Most people trade in the last FIFA game to get the new FIFA game. Who's gonna want to be lumped with dozens of old FIFA games that they can't get rid of!? As for the whole TV focus, never mind the fact that it's almost useless if you live outside of the US, but who the hell is gonna pay $400-500 for a fancy TV remote/channel guide!? (Not to mention that Nintendo TVii already does most of what Xbox One does anyway). -
What Does the XBOX ONE Reveal Mean for Nintendo?
Dcubed replied to Zechs Merquise's topic in General Gaming Discussion
It means that Nintendo is in a hell of a better position now than they were before. Not only has this reveal been a complete disaster on the scale of Sony's legendary 2006 E3 conference, it also makes EA much less appealing now as they have aligned themselves with a sinking ship and were also probably the driving force behind the whole always-online and no-used-games initiatives (this is why they publicly announced that they were dropping the online pass just a few days before the Xbox event) Suddenly you have people applauding Nintendo for not giving into EA and acceding to their demands... But the big winner here is Sony, not Nintendo. The latter is being shown mercy, while the former is being handed the generation on a silver platter. All Sony has to do now is not fuck up and they've seemingly got this generation in the bag really... -
Yeah very true, it's great fun watching the fallout. It really does feel like I've taken a timewarp back to 2006 with Sony's E3 conference OH MY GOD LOOOL!!! We even have a video to rival that legendary It just needed to highlight the fish-moving-out-of-the -way part and it would've been a perfect match (that's the "real time weapon change!?" moment right there )
-
BTW it has been confirmed that an internet connection is required for the console to function. It needs to be able to connect online once every 24 hours or the console will not work... http://kotaku.com/xbox-one-does-require-internet-connection-cant-play-o-509164109 So that's that...
-
Not according to the teardown pictures... Not to mention that there is an image of the external power brick itself... So it looks like it is indeed external...
-
For all the crap people give Nintendo about their online systems, they're the only company who have allowed you to transfer your entire digital library to your future machines with a 100% flawless record. Microsoft have now failed TWICE to do this and Sony only managed to partially do this with the Vita (which only plays a small selection of your PSP/PS1 games), while completely failing with the PS4. To those who laughed at people who chose to buy from Nintendo's online shops, who's laughing now?

Most likely that 4 of them are Uncharted or COD clones, while the other 4 are Kinect shovelware.
-
Lucky for us that the Xbox One reveal looks to be a complete disaster on almost the same level as Sony's E3 2006's presentation, so hopefully EA will go down with the sinking Xbox ship. Good riddance to the both of them I say! : peace:
-
Well it certainly looks like it does!
-
Just got back, watched the event and caught up with everything else. Holy cow, what an utter disaster! So it seems that all the worst case scenarios have come true. Games are a tertiary concern, behind TV/Movies and internet, wont turn on without a connected Kinect, no backwards compatibility/game transferring, no games of any interest were shown and the online connectivity requirement & no used games systems rumours turned out to be completely true, oh wow! Not to mention that they've managed to make a console with effectively the same name (and size!) as their first console. No possibility for confusion there! They're so high on their own fumes of hubris that they can't even see how they've created such a clusterfuck that even Sony of 2006 would blush at the sight of it! (all it needs now is a $600 pricetag and we're all set - and with a Kinect 2.0 included with every machine, it might still well be!). Third Console Curse anyone?

Could that guy sound any less bored?

Shantae hits the 3DS VC on June 20th worldwide!!! http://www.wayforward.com/blog/ At last! Let the tyranny of greedy collectors be no more!
-
Yup. Looks like a mini PC tower. Surprising that it's quite angular as Sony's recent console designs are generally rounded off. Yup. Expert timing on Sony's part!
-
You can use any controller configuration you can think of. Wanna use 2 Wiimotes? No problem! Classic Controller for 1st player, Gamepad for 2nd? Sure! You can even have two Player 1s! (one person on Gamepad and one person with another controller playing as the same character!) Makes for some crazy "co-op" fun! (Try playing Punchout, where one person makes Mac dodge and the other makes him punch, it's a good laugh )

Ok hats off to NOA there. That's actually pretty brilliant (And surprisingly on the nose with Wario being a rich arsehole who's after even more money, especially after the crap that Penny Arcade just pulled recently ) Where were these guys when the Wii U came out with its mediocre advertising!?
