Bit weird of them to announce this out of the blue like this. I wonder if the announcement of the white Premium means that they're dumping the basic model alltogether... I don't see the point of the Wii Remote battery packs myself. Why not just use rechargable AAs? Also I do wonder how much extra weight that higher capacity battery will add to the Gamepad, considering that this is the reason why they left that empty space in that battery compartment in the first place...

Spot on. You can literally get through the first 3 levels of Sonic Advance 2 (ignoring the boss battle) by just holding right on the D-pad and not pressing any other button; no really, I've done this many times, try it yourself! You can also do this in lots of levels in DIMPS' other Sonic games, but I can't remember which ones exactly. Also DIMPS have a fucking obsession with liberally placed bottomless pits and leaps of faith. Their level designs are largely dull, repetitive, frustrating and derivative (Not that Sonic Team have been much better, but Colours and Generations is at least a step up from their past games and DIMPS' rubbish). Either way though, I'm not exactly thrilled by Sonic Team's developer pedigree anyway so I'm not getting my hopes up on even the Wii U version.

Fing blinding stuff. I never noticed the drummer actually hitting the bass in time to the music The game had such amazing attention to detail! (that being said, Ken Lobb made the right call with that cutscene suggestion; it wasn't clear enough that the player should go to the barn first - though the rest of the tutorial section was masterfully done!) It's a shame that the whistling animation never got done in time and that DK64 Expansion Pak tidbit is just... wow! I wouldn't have thought it possible for the game to be running just fine without it! (though as they rightfully pointed out, that DK64 crash bug was a blessing in disguise as it allowed for such high penetration that PD could require it without much worry). It's really funny to see just how many characters in the game were based on their own colleagues (and that anecdote about the geordy bum was just priceless ). God I miss the good ol' days of Rareware Oh and this comment... Looking forward to the rest of the vids (HURRY UP YOU LAZY BASTARDS! )

Because we've known their release date for at least a month now. No news here to speak of (that and it's the wrong thread for it anyway )
-
Hmm... Maybe it is the same game after all then... Anything is better than having DIMPS' stink on it so I hope I'm right here! BTW, I really like the idea of having 3 seperate running speeds with 2 run buttons. That allows for some very accomodating level design (almost a Nintendo like idea that solves multiple age old problems with 3D Sonic )

What the hell is this black disc under my circle pad?!
Dcubed replied to flameboy's topic in Nintendo Gaming
All the more reason to get it sent ASAP. Nintendo's turnabout time is typically no longer than a week. -
That was part of that Sonic Excursion rumour that turned out to be fake. There's no reason to believe that it wouldn't be DIMPS. They've made every single handheld Sonic game...
-
Ahh so the 3DS version is a totally different game then? (2D side scroller). No doubt it has been outsourced to DIMPS. Garbage game confirmed. Not interested (Wii U one, we'll see though...)
-
No kidding! My thoughts exactly! With a dash of Mario Galaxy and Skyward Sword (running up walls and climbing on them) for good measure! Could be good, actually looks very interesting from a purely mechanical perspective! Looks like the kind of game that Nintendo would come up with themselves (I do wish they were the ones making this though. I'd have full faith in it in that case, but alas...)

Monster Hunter 4/Ace Attorney 5 Nintendo Direct
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
We'll probably get a JPN release date for MH4. Dare I also hope for a western announcement for MH4 here? I wonder if this will be labelled as a "Capcom Direct", much like how the last one was a "SEGA Direct". If so, could we be in for some surprise announcements? -
3 becomes 4, which becomes 5, which becomes... It's a slippery slope, especially when they're only releasing 1-2 games a week...
-
We have a German one though... ABSOLUTE FUCKING BOLLOCKS!!! We're 3 games behind the US now!!!
-
The US is also getting Megaman X next week on the Wii U VC. Here's hoping we get it too!

You know what... going back and playing the Wii version for a bit after playing the 3DS one... I have to say that the original Wii one feels much better to play. 60FPS makes a huge difference and makes the game feel much more polished (the zoomed out camera also works much better on the TV than on the small 3DS screen). I also think that the original Wii control scheme works better than the 3DS ones (I never had a problem with the "waggle" controls personally), it just feels right. You can tell that the game was really designed with the Wii Remote and Nunchuck in mind - that weighty feel of the gravity, the slight cool-down after rolling, the simple control scheme (especially the separation of grabbing from everything else with it using Z on the Nunchuck) and that primal feeling of pounding the ground and punching the ever living crap out of the boss at the end of each world just feels much better with motion controls. While it works with buttons, it just feels a bit "off", like it just doesn't quite fit as well. Don't get me wrong, it's really nice to have a portable version of the game, the 3D is great and I don't regret getting it, but it just feels better to play on the home console. If you haven't already got the game, I'd recommend tracking down the original first and then maybe pick up the 3DS one later on if you really like it and want to play the extra levels.

Oh so the timing actually matters then? As long as it doesn't take an utter eternity to kill enemies that way, I'd be happy. Oh and yes I agree with you about Ulala. Total missed opportunity!
-
You've never played either!? BUY BUY BUY!!! Both games are amazing and amongst the very best that the SNES had to offer! You'd be outright stupid to not go and buy them both THIS INSTANT!!!

Zelda: Symphony of the Goddess tour finally comes to the UK this May!
Dcubed replied to Dcubed's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Oh that was you!? That was an amazing costume! -
Yeah... this game isn't for me... It's a strategy RPG with no strategy whatsoever. Each enemy takes an eternity to kill and it just devolves into frantic button mashing. Although as fangasms go, this is number one for sure. No game could wank off a fan like this one! It serves its purpose masterfully

BTW, I just realised something... Miiverse is gonna be brilliant for custom puzzle sharing on Panel De Pon/Tetris Attack! You just make a puzzle, take a screenshot and you're done! I hope Nintendo are smart enough to realise this and make a separate puzzle sharing community on the game's Miiverse page... (oh and that we get it over here very quickly too ) We did. In fact, the US got it on Wii before Japan did...
-
Next week Japan gets Pilotwings, Panel de Pon (Tetris Attack over here), and Mario Bros. The US is getting at least Spelunker and Ghosts N' Goblins next week (SMB2 wasn't announced straight away when it was released last week so it's possible that Nintendo might be holding back something else) BTW, random factoid. Looking at how many of the Wii VC games have now been re-released on the Wii U VC; In Japan, Nintendo have released 12 (not counting Mother 2) out of a total of 27 1st/2nd party SFC games and 4 out of a total of 44 1st/2nd party Famicom games. I suspect that we'll be seeing mostly NES titles for the next few months now. They've gotten through a large chunk of their previously VC released SNES titles very quickly.

Nice to see that they're actually on time this go around. PKMD's download code apparently didn't get uploaded on their site until mid Saturday, so here's hoping that they get it right from here on out

Zelda: Symphony of the Goddess tour finally comes to the UK this May!
Dcubed replied to Dcubed's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I suppose that they didn't include a lot of tracks in that medley, but what was there was really great. I totally agree with you on the other two, but the ALTTP medley was the biggest highlight for me! That's probably why they decided not to include it. They can only fit so many tracks into one evening and there are some that they HAVE to include just because of their cult status (like Gerudo Valley and the Song of Storms), as well as their personal favourite, the Twilight Princess medley, so with the remaining time, I'm sure that they'd rather do tracks that weren't included in the 25th anniversary concert. -
Zelda: Symphony of the Goddess tour finally comes to the UK this May!
Dcubed replied to Dcubed's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Twas amazing! Pretty much everything was perfect. My only real complaint was with the Ballad of the Windfish arrangement, was not a fan. The ALTTP and MM ones were just WOW! Oh hey! I got you in the end! You were one of my last ones of the night (completely finished all the puzzle pieces BTW, yes all 625 of them - including the Animal Crossing one! ) -
Was hoping we'd get another one sooner... Oh well, I guess it's exactly as expected. Just hope that there's more than just the 3 way 3D Mario, SSB and Mario Kart U combo in store. Gimme some surprises!
