  1. Seems that HAL might be the ones responsible for Wii Sports Club... This image appeared at the end of the Wii Fit U direct where WSC was announced (and we already know that Wii Fit U was developed by the same team at EAD as the past titles so....
  2. Talk about out of bloody nowhere! I KNEW Nintendo still had a trick up their sleeve for this Xmas! (A damn shame that they couldn't get all 5 games ready in time for launch though, but hopefully it should still have a nice impact on console sales). For those moaning about the price, don't forget that Wii Sports was a full price retail game (it was sold seperately in Japan and we payed an extra $50/£40 premium over the JPN Wii console price because we got it packed in). I really hope that they eventually upgrade the Wii Sports Resort games as well. Would be awesome to Dogfight, fire some arrows and play Frisbee Golf online! Sadly though, out of all the WSR games I would imagine that this would be the one game that wouldn't be possible online. The lag would be horrific for that game, considering its 1-1 controls!

  5. Atlus always made money on their US localizations though. They're VERY lean and efficient in their US operations (even the EO series made money for them and they typically sold under 30K each!) SEGA on the other hand are nowhere near as efficient and have refused to localise games which sell much better than the EO series (hi Valkyria Chronicles 3!) One would think that they would keep Atlus US around (and even allow them to take care of some of SEGA's MIA games like the Yakuza series), but SEGA aren't exactly known for smart decision making...

  10. More than anything else, I want the Ball & Chain back but with actual 1-1 Motionplus controls & physics! Twilight Princess was such a goddamn tease! (And Skyward Sword disappointed me by not having it ). Dammit! It would feel amazingly fun to use!

Beyond Good & Evil had various framerate problems, sound glitches and a slightly messed up camera (moreso than the original), while MGS HD was missing content (mainly from MGS 3, though a few bits like Snakeboarding was missing from MGS 2 as well) and had various missing graphical effects (toned down rain in MG2, missing bees in MGS 3 etc). Peace Walker HD was apparently an excellent port though with no problems at all.
  12. To be fair, FF10/10-2 does look like a great HD remaster (assuming that they haven't chucked Lightning in there...), but yeah. A lot of HD Remasters out there have been absolutely dreadful! (I'm looking at you Silent Hill HD Collection, Splinter Cell HD Collection, Prince of Persia Collection and Beyond Good & Evil HD! - Even the MGS 2 & 3 HD were riddled with problems and they're somehow considered to be "quality" HD Remasters!) I didn't mean to belittle FF10/10-2 HD at all, the point I was trying to make was that the work involved in the upgrade was roughly equal in both Remasters. WWHD's additional graphical effects aren't really hard to add on their own, but when you combine them all together it becomes a lot of work to balance it all and make sure it all looks right; making the amount of effort involved roughly equal to touching up the polygon models in FF10/10-2 (which in of itself is a large undertaking that involves more than just turning on bloom or SSAO). I think you're reading too much into it here... I'm not out to "get" S-E, just trying to make a point of both productions being roughly equal in terms of "effort" involved (meaning that the concept of comparing the value of both products coming down to whether or not you feel that TWW is worth more than both FF10 and FF10-2 combined at a lower price).
  13. They both have roughly the same amount of effort/production values being put into them, but FF10/10-2 is cheaper, yes I acknowledge that. So the issue of value has nothing to do with the actual HD upgrades that these games have recieved, but rather it comes down to the value of the original games. Is Wind Waker worth more than FF10 & FF10-2 combined? For me, that answer is VERY obvious. I would happily pay more for Wind Waker than FF 10 and FF10-2 (and yes, I've played all the FF mainline games) because it's a far better game than those two combined. Simple You Edited: Huh? What part of "touched up" is inaccurate here? They took the high detail cutscene models for the characters, smoothed out the rough edges and added extra detail. That is surely the definition of "touched up". It's not like they redid all of the models at FF13 quality, they're still based off the PS2 models but with an increased polygon count. It looks great, but it's not a gigantic upgrade that is tantamount to a full remake (and they haven't really tweaked the visuals outside of the redone models and high res textures either, so I fail to see where I'm being inaccurate here).
  14. How are S-E putting more effort into FF10/10-2 HD? The upgrade seems pretty comparable to me. Both have redrawn textures, both have other graphical enhancements (FF10/10-2 has 720p resolution and touched up polygon models while Wind Waker has 1080p resolution, SSAO, dynamic shadows, unlimited draw distance thanks to the entire ocean being loaded into RAM at once, self shadowing, HDR & bloom lighting, an all new dynamic lighting system and other shader effects added), both have extra content (FF 10/10-2 has extra content from the JPN re-releases translated into English, while Wind Waker has new gameplay features that utilise the Gamepad, Miiverse integration and tons of gameplay tweaks; features that didn't exist in any previous version might I add!) and both have remastered music. The only real difference in terms of "effort" here is that FF10/10-2 HD includes 2 games (granted they use the same engine and assets, so sprucing up both games at once is reletively easy, but it's still two for the price of one), while Wind Waker HD is just one game - well that and the fact that Nintendo made WW HD very quickly in comparison because S-E are so pathetically mismanaged that it actually took them longer to remake FF10 than it did to make the original PS2 game in the first place It's really just a matter of whether or not you think that Wind Waker is worth more than FF10 & FF10-2 and for me, that answer is an unequivicable YES! EASILY!
  15. Good thing that products aren't priced depending on their development cost then (or else god knows how much GTA5 would cost!) Wind Waker is well worth the £40 price tag. It's one of the best games ever made, made even better with all the awesome upgrades they've made to it (HD visuals, remastered music, Gamepad use with touchscreen inventory/map/motion controls/off-TV play, Miiverse integration, fast sailing, game tweaks like remixed item placement and Triforce hunt tweaks, Hero mode etc). I will happily plonk down £40 for it and feel that I got a bargain! Can't wait to experience it all over again in a new way
  16. Doing so would greatly increase the time and cost of development - eating into development of both A Link Between Worlds and Zelda Wii U. This is a spruced up re-release, not a new game. It doesn't make sense to pore that many resources into a project like this. Those resources are better spent on the new games.
  17. I think they said that they were aiming for 60, but it wasn't guaranteed. So it could be... Either way, as long as it's fast, fun and feels smooth, I don't really care (it's not really the kind of game that absolutely 100% needs it like a fighting game, or a precision 2D platformer like Mario or DKCR)

  21. Should be about 20-30 mins from Paddington, but you don't want to walk from King's Cross Station... You'll want to take the Piccadilly Line from Kings Cross to Earls Court. Get off there and the expo is literally right across the street when you head outside the Warwick Road exit Funnily enough, I'll be going but I wont be playing MK8. Don't really want to spoil my first time playing it (Cause there's no way that I'm not getting it anyway!)
  22. The early days of PSP piracy were very easy going. By the time that they really started to erect significant barriers like the Slim & Lite model, the damage was already done; and those common DS flash cards like R4 didn't really come into play until around halfway through the DS' lifecycle, so the effect was much less pronounced. That being said, you're right in saying that ultimately the DS just had a much more compelling game lineup. Even towards the end, when DS piracy was in full force, you still had plenty of top selling titles like Art Academy and Pokemon B&W. People don't just want console style games on the go, they want games that are taylored to the handheld gaming experience.

PSP piracy was far worse than DS for two reasons. 1, it didn't require any additional flash card purchase (it was softmoddable and the stronger anti-piracy measures came into play far too late). 2, It was "hacked" on day 1, thanks to Sony's unbelievably stupid mistake of allowing unsigned code to run off the memory stick as default on day 1. DS on the other hand took about 1.5 odd years before the first flash cards (which were fairly unreliable and obscure) came about. So piracy was widespread from the very start and quickly gave the perception of it being "The Piracy Machine". Of course its software never really resonated with the market like the DS' did, primarily because most of them were console games shoved onto a handheld device (that's not to say that it didn't end up with a great library - cause it did! There are a surprisingly large number of great games available for that thing!); but piracy was a big problem, much moreso than the DS. That being said, it did extraordinarily well in terms of hardware sales in the end. Sure it sold less than half of what the DS did, but 76 million is nothing to scoff at! That's very close to matching the GBA! (Granted the GBA was succeeded by the DS only a short 3 years after it launched - with a 5 year lifespan and to this day remains the fastest selling handheld of all time before replacement; even ahead of the DS, in comparison to the PSP's 8 year lifespan, but that's still a great result nonetheless!) It was software sales where the PSP floundered though (save for a few notable exceptions like the Monster Hunter series, GTA LCS/VCS, MGSPW in Japan etc).
  24. It's the best "character" action game ever made, no question. Not even The Wonderful 101 matches it! It's just so perfectly smooth and fluid, so perfectly balanced, refined and tuned. A true master class of combat design! (And the non-combat elements are also very well done; just enough to add some variety to the game and break up the combat, with some clever ideas that utilise your ever expanding skill set - just like Viewtiful Joe!) Ok the Space Harrier missile and motorbike sections dragged on a bit longer than they should've, but it's still untouchable! The best game that ever got released on the PS360 by a country mile
  25. If it was definitively the superior version (better graphics, second screen Gamepad use, exclusive content etc), then yeah it might have shifted a good few units. A straight port with no enhancements though? Pointless.
