Wind Waker is definitely best when you go off the beaten path. It's really about exploring and taking in all that the world has to offer, moreso than just linearily following along with the story.

When you download the game, you are given a free 1 hour pass. You choose when to redeem it and that lasts for the next hour from that time onwards, regardless of whether you're playing or not (so if you redeem it at 1PM, it lasts till 2PM, even if you quit the game).

Oh wow! All of Wii Kareoke U's music is uncensored! Makes sense since it's technically an app that accesses an external service (so since PEGI have no jurisdiction in rating the music, they can only rate the "game" itself - meaning that they have to rate it as 3), instead of it being a game like Lips of Singstar that has songs inside the game itself (which bump up the game rating). But still, LOLOLOLOLOL, Microsoft and Somy censor music while Nintendo doesn't

So I wanted to post the new trailer for Shovel Knight and I noticed that we had no thread for it... WHAT IS THIS MADNESS!? THIS WILL NOT DO! So here it is FOR SHOVELRY! BTW, For those that haven't heard of this game... It's a 2D platformer made by a new studio called Yacht Club Games. They're all ex Wayforward (Shantae, Contra 4, A Boy & His Blob Wii, the Mighty_____ series) staff, with the music being done by Virt (of Wayforward) and Mega Man series composer, Manami Matsumae. So yeah! The game is due "This Winter" on both Wii U & 3DS. But mostly I just wanted to post that AWESOME new trailer

Ahhhh, feels sooooooo goooooooddd. This remake is amazing! Everything feels so goooooddd!!! The music got a bigger overhaul than I had expected too! Everything has been sped up ever so slightly, text moves faster, little bits of Link's animations are quicker. Rope swinging has changed too (you have much more control now and can change directions even while swinging - no more stop and re-position anymore! ) Gamepad is also used nicely, the always present map and inventory is a real god send! And tbe Miiverse features are already great fun! Looks amazing too! Feels like an all new game

I'm 99% sure that any EU code will work on any EU region 3DS (Gamesrocket sell 3DS codes in the UK and they're based in Germany). US and JPN codes obviously wont work, but all EU codes should be the same.

Shopto are including a free keyring with all preorders. Supposedly they got them in late, meaning that they had to wait till yesterday to ship the games out. Normally all of their products sent out get next day delivery, but...

Lol! Well normally they're really good (usually arrives a day or two before release), but this is just terrible. So disappointed

Nintendo is getting the Monogame Framework engine ported over to Wii U! http://www.siliconera.com/2013/10/03/nintendo-bring-monogame-framework-wii-u/ Monogame Framework is basically the open source version (and continued version of) XNA, so PC and XBLIG games that made use of it and XNA (like Terarria for instance) can be ported to Wii U with ease now

The developer there said that it was still planned for release before the end of the year.

Goddamn that's brutal No doubt that'll impact on localisations too Capcom's really in a bad place right now, having to rely on platform holders to offer them development support & funding to get almost all of their upcoming games out (but that's a matter for the general gaming forums really...) Edit: Go figure, Ike thought so too :p

I absolutely loved this when I played it at Eurogamer Expo! It's a great blend of action and light puzzle solving - erring more towards the action side (but even during those pure action moments, you have to really think about how to position yourself in order to destroy or get past enemies - it's a thinking man/woman's shooter!) Physics feel just right and the gravity gameplay feels a bit like in Mario Galaxy with how you can orbit around stuff when you jump (though it's stickier than the plumber's outings). Really looking forward to this one. I'm jostling for a good run (well, slide) and gun action game and this fits the bill very nicely!

Ahh, so it's not just me who has to wait till Friday for Shopto's delivery... I hope that this isn't the end of their early deliveries. No doubt that fiasco with Rockstar (and the rumblings of what happened when some stores sold Pokemon X&Y early) must've spooked them somewhat... (Come on guys! Not every game is GTA or Pokemon )

If it's like what happened the last few times before, then it'll probably be fixed within the week. Until then, you can still watch the embedded versions of videos; thankfully they still work fine.

TWW HD's sales weren't as bad as I was expecting. It's roughly on par (a bit lower, but pretty close) with other HD Remasters like the ps3 versions of MGS 2 & 3 HD and the DMC HD collection. It was never gonna make any real difference to the Wii U's fortunes in Japan, which is why Nintendo only shipped 100K copies (not to mention that the Wii U family pack that comes with Wii Party U, NSMBU and Wii Fit U was also announced last week - so anyone with half a brain would be waiting for that pack to hit) It's in the west where it is expected to make up the vast majority of its sales...

Yeah, saw this one yesterday. A bit upsetting, but not too bad when you consider that it was due to release only a couple of weeks after Wii Party U anyway. The DKCTF delay hurts a lot more...

Am I the only person who gets annoyed at the fact that almost none of these reversible covers ever includes the spine/console logo/blurb stuff on back? Completely ruins the consistency of how it looks on the shelf! The New Play Control games on Wii do it right!

Sonic was totally expected, but I didn't expect a Lost World stage. That elevates the surprise to Awesome status
