  1. They are. It was already announced at E3. Every PS4 game that does not use the Move or the PS4 Camera must support remote play, with a Vita control scheme being mandatory. The Vita TV is just using a modified version of the same streaming tech designed for the handheld (just changed to output in 720p instead of 544p and to allow the DS4 controller to be used)
  2. One thing I have to say though is that if SCEA and SCEE hope to get this thing to sell over here in the west, then they had better greatly improve their selection of PSP and PS1 titles. The list of games on offer outside Japan is utterly pitiful in comparison! Going by the lifestyle videos they showed here, they (at least SCEJ) really do consider the back catalogue to be a big selling point for this console (and considering that massive 1000 + games on offer, it may well be), but that number is basically cut down by about half in the west (probably even moreso when you consider how many PSP and PS1 games currently on the PSN store are not available to download from the device itself, but instead need to be transferred over from a PS3!) Perhaps (hopefully!) this is the reason why it is not coming out till next year in the west, instead choosing to wait until the PS4's dust has settled and they have sorted out the issues that have prevented the Vita's PS1 & PSP library from working in the west.
  3. Hey hey, no need to kick em while they're down here. It's hardly an elegant solution, but it's better than nothing. It's not like it's gonna suddenly destroy the 3DS here. Better to let the poor thing live, than to leave it for dead!
  4. Aha! Turns out that there IS a rudimentary touch screen control solution! http://www.jp.playstation.com/psvitatv/faq/ When you hold down L3 or R3 (presumably that controls each respective touch panel/screen), a pointer appears that controls the touchscreen action. There we go! That solves the issue for those games that needed at least some rudimentary touch screen actions Stuff like Wipeout and Uncharted should be playable on this thing after all.
  5. Problem is though that they already have FF14 on their current PS3 and they'll be getting DW8 on their current PS3 well before it comes out on PS4. It's not really a great lineup if they already own the games that will be available, minor graphical upgrade or otherwise. Doesn't matter if Microsoft or Nintendo flounder, it's still a very poor launch lineup because of the lack of exclusives. It's gonna have a very slow start with the lineup looking like that (and the western focused games aren't even worth mentioning, they wont sell for toffee). Hopefully the Vita TV will kickstart that console's sales though. I reckon it has a decent chance at least
  6. Yup. GG Xrd looks incredible! Hard to believe that it's all 3D (and not just any 3D, but UE3 3D! )
  7. Man, bad news for Sony fans in Japan (I bet that Nintendo are breathing a sigh of relief right now!) The PS4's launch lineup in Japan is looking pretty damn weak too... Not counting their first party titles (of which all of them other than Knack are western focused and developed by western studios - and that latter game is not only included with the first run of consoles, but it's also not exactly looking like a great title anyway, with about as much hype as a wet fish), they don't have a single exclusive retail title. Considering that it's gonna retail for about 40,000 yen, who in Japan would buy the console for THAT lineup when all of those 3rd party titles are also gonna be on PS3?
  8. I'm not saying that it would be any good, I'm thinking more about those games that just use it for silly context sensitive actions or button icons that could be just as easily controlled with buttons, like Uncharted Golden Abyss. It seems silly to exclude those games that could easily be made to work with the Vita TV, even through a ghetto solution (like the one I mentioned before), cause not all of those games will end up getting updates to make these things controllable with a button (patches aren't free after all, so not everyone is gonna end up doing it).
  9. There's a compatibility list up now... http://www.jp.playstation.com/psvitatv/game/psvitalist/ Soul Sacrifice is listed, but stuff like Uncharted GA and Little Big Planet Vita are not... I get that feeling that they're releasing an update for SS to make the touch controlled stuff optional, rather than including some sort of touch screen substitute... That's a really small list of games! Can't believe that they're not adding in ANY sort of solution here!
  10. £19.99 is a laughable price for Generations. The retail version is a mere fraction of that price now Would be nice to see Rhythm Theif get an eShop release though...
  11. They must come up with some sort of solution for the touchscreen controls, even if it's something as dire as requiring L2 or R2 to be held down (front and back respectively) and using the two sticks as cursors to simulate the touch controls. So many Vita games require it to be used (often for small things, but things that can't be skipped!), that they can't just leave them to be unplayable. Even Soul Sacrifice requires it for a couple of context sensitive actions and they actually showed it being played on Vita TV! (unless that was actually SSDelta...) The current situation here is ridiculous... (The pathetic 1GB of storage is also hilarious and sad, but that's another matter...)
  12. Nevermind, it is compatible with DS4, but not until a future software update.
  13. Yeah, just re-watched the video. It is compatible with DS4, so they could use the touch panel as a substitute for the front or back touch and the motion controls. But it's still a very poor replacement for the front touch screen, since you can't actually see what you're touching - plus it can only be used to simulate one touch panel at a time (meaning that you're SOL if you want to play games that require both panels to be touched simultaneously - like Tearaway) I suppose they could just allow you to use a Vita to control it, but that would be a pretty pointless solution Seems poorly thought out when you think about it... Ahh, figured as much. Goodbye any potential future interesting touchscreen/back panel uses!
  14. Wait a sec... How the hell are touch screen games supposed to work if it uses a Dual Shock 3!? Can't believe that I didn't even consider that. Could the device itself have touch panels on either side? (That would still suck though without being able to touch stuff directly...)
  15. It's a consolised PS Vita! (basically a PS Vita without the screen that connects to your TV - is compatible with Vita Cartridges) Works with a Dual Shock 3, retails for about $95...
  16. Not gonna lie, I want one. Would be great to play MHFU on my TV!
  17. PS Vita TV!?!?! Ooookkkayyy... Didn't see that one coming! Bye bye Ouya!
  18. The Link costume looks really REALLY stupid with the MH animations The Mario & Luigi feline costumes look pretty good though.
  19. Looks good. Looks DAMN good! Hope it still comes out before the end of the year! Heh. Guess it wasn't Pirate's Curse after all, but rather it was Half Genie Hero
  20. Ahh, so the Nintendo/Capcom collaboration IS MonHun related then? Probably just some Nintendo related armour sets for MH4 then. Kinda cool I guess
  21. That's a big deal for me. Starting a new file in a Pokemon game has always been such a complete PITA because I have to go out of my way to transfer my prized Pokemon over to another game in order not to lose it all. It's gonna be great having them all stored in the cloud, meaning that I'll be able to play through all my games again without that enormous hassle!
  22. $400,000 seems way too cheap to produce the game even at the minimum level. $1,200,000 actually sounds pretty realistic for a game made with HD sprites from scratch (MSFHD would've been much cheaper to produce because they already had assets to work with). Look at the Kickstarter for Skullgirls if you want to see how expensive sprite production work can be! The thing that feels weird to me is that the Kickstarter for this appears before Pirate's Curse has even had a proper trailer, let alone a release! At least get that game out of the door before begging for money to make a sequel! As I mentioned before, they're probably really low balling the cost of the project in an attempt to make the Kickstarter look more achievable for backers. If they got just $400,000, then no doubt they would have to fund a huge chunk of the production costs themselves. $1-1.2 million is probably the total estimated cost of the whole production and they feel that $400,000 is the minimum safety net that they need to be comfortable in chucking in $600,000-800,000-ish of their own money.
  23. CV4!? ALL OF MY WANT!!! Would eat rotted pot roast to play that on my Gamepad!
  24. Brawl came out roughly 1.5 years after D/P in Japan. If SSB4 comes out in mid 2014, it'll be just a mere 6 months-ish afterwards; if it comes out towards the end of 2014, it would've been 9-12 months. No matter how you slice it, that's significantly less time for them to include Gen 6 content. Considering that they're already fighting for time (and hell, I'm actually really doubtful that both games will get released in 2014 - No way will it have a roster bigger than SSBB either, nor will it include as many stages in each game), it doesn't really make much sense to wait for Gen 6 to come out so that they can decide which Pokemon to include when they can just get to work using Gen 5 stuff anyway. Besides, N's Castle is just begging to be a stage! (And Zoroark's main gimmick will be funny as hell in Smash Bros )
  25. Yeah, like Mario Galaxy was the main focus in Brawl rather than Super Mario Sunshine Gen 6 is coming out too late to really factor into the game's development (Sakurai wouldn't know what's really going into the game apart from what has been publicly announced as Nintendo do not really share details about upcoming games amongst their entire staff - in order to prevent leaks), so I bet that Gen 5 will be the main focus for the stages and characters - but they'll probably chuck in some Gen 6 assist trophies later on in development (and maybe Mega Mewtwo as a final smash if Mewtwo was added back in for this game)
