  1. That would be a first for Switch (and also really annoying since I've already bought all 3 already ). Hopefully that's the case anyway!
  2. The lack of discounts is also Nintendo's fault here, since they currently don't have support up and running for cross platform discounts/freebies on Switch yet (they also don't have support for bundles yet). Can't really blame Wayforward here (they've offered cross platform discounts before on Wii U/3DS, so I would imagine that they'd want to do it here but can't right now).
  3. The Risky Boots DLC comes out on August 29th! Also, more details about other upcoming DLC below... http://nintendoeverything.com/shantae-half-genie-hero-pirate-queens-quest-complete-wayforward-working-on-friends-mode-dlc-more/ Didn't even know they were doing another DLC pack after Risky Boots. Nice! Hopefully we get a substantial amount of new stages, without the backtracking which bogged down the main game. There's a good game here, there just isn't enough of it to keep the game going without the need for padding. I'll probably re-buy it and play it on Switch for this DLC (surprised that nobody in this topic has mentioned that a Switch version of the game came out!)
  4. Yeah, this sounds more like a 3rd version and less of a sequel like B2/W2. I reckon I may have been right to skip out on S/M after all
  5. I like how it's a GB/GBC style cardboard box. And shiny too, just like the originals
  6. Well the devs did say that they designed the visuals as if it were a long lost SEGA Saturn game, so you're not far off really
  7. Sadly I can't make it this week. Looks like a fun one though!
  8. The Okami port is just a rumour right now, it hasn't actually been announced yet... If it happens, a Switch version surely has to be a no-brainer. With them putting the upcoming re-re-master of RE Revelations on Switch, Okami seems a likely follow up.
  9. Yeah, that was my biggest problem with ALBW; the flat difficulty curve. That's the problem with purposely designing your game without an intended sequence, you can't assume that the player has picked up the necessary skills/items to tackle more challenging dungeons and have to accommodate the lowest common denominator. The dungeons certainly have their moments (he rightfully pointed that out with the skull woods wallmaster puzzle, that was brilliant), but overall they are some of the weaker ones in the series for me. I prefer it when there is a balance of sorts, and I think that ALTTP handled that better. Still a great game mind you and the merge mechanic is still one of the very best in the series; the amount of mileage they get out of it and the sheer complexity it adds to the game as a whole is just amazing
  10. Apparently there's a bug with the game that prevents you from using the capture or home button in handheld mode... https://gonintendo.com/stories/287595-sonic-mania-might-have-a-screenshot-menu-issue-in-handheld-mode That's a real shame. Might just wait until they patch it before I play it.
  11. I reckon she might do... But we still have no date for the Switch version yet...
  12. It's funny to think of just how much of a multiplayer powerhouse the Switch has already turned into! But at the same time, it's really slim pickings if you're looking for a substantial single player experience. There's only one single game that fits the bill (BOTW) and though it it's very substantial, if it doesn't click with you (which it doesn't for me, at all.), there's practically nothing right now unless you count late ports and Wonderboy (as great as it is, I wouldn't really say it's all that substantial though). Luckily we've got Sonic Mania next week, Mario + Rabbids at the end of the month and Mario Odyssey in about 3 months time, so not too long to go until there's something else (no, I still don't think that Xenoblade 2 is coming out this year, I refuse to believe ) I've actually been playing my 3DS more than my Switch recently. It's lineup this year is pretty killer (and that's not counting the backlog!). Switch will get there eventually no doubt (remember the early days of the 3DS? I certainly do!), but I get the feeling that it's gonna take longer for the software schedule to catch up compared to the 3DS' early days; especially with how the major 3rd parties are still slow on the uptake and how long HD games take to make.
  13. I just generally expect everything non 1st party to come to PC these days. Yes, even Dragon Quest 11 doesn't seem too far fetched anymore. Just holding out for NiOh and Project Diva Future Tone. I could get them on PS4, but I'd just rather play them on PC
  14. Looks like it could be decent. Shame about the A/B button placement being slightly wrong though. Still very happy with my modded analog sticks on my original N64 controllers
  15. SEGA delaying a game to ensure quality!? We really have entered the Twilight Zone! All the more signs that this game is gonna be the tits
  16. I did kinda just jump in... expecting to see that nobody else was playing it... (what, with the total lack of buzz it's getting). Glad to see that it's not totally being ignored here though
  17. Switch of course! Home and away? Easy choice really.
  18. Anyone else playing the demo? I'm really enjoying it! The battle system is pretty simple, but fun. Predicting what kinds of moves monsters are gonna use is good fun and there seems to be some sort of combo system that lets you deal more damage by doing certain moves in a certain order that I haven't quite figured out yet (plus this is just the very beginning of the game; like I mentioned in my quick preview on the main site, I'm sure they'll add more wrinkles to the battles as you go on). I like how you interact with the world as well, it's very Monster Hunter esc; they've done a great job at translating MH's world traversal into an RPG here! (Actually reminds me a lot of Okami in many ways) and the areas are pretty big, with lots of places to explore. I really like it, out-of-battle gameplay here feels more interactive than your typical RPG. The story seems pretty simple, but rather charming... ... I'm actually kinda growing on the characters too. They're all pretty likeable (and even the weird looking feline isn't as bad as I thought he would be). Also baby Rathalos is so cute it hurts (Actually, all of the monsters are pretty damn squee ). Hilariously, you actually don't create your own character right away, but in the middle of a story sequence, meaning that your main character suddenly changes their physical appearance (and possibly gender) in the middle of a cutscene and nobody bats an eyelid Music is outstanding as well! I simply love the main theme! And the rest of the music is already getting pretty catchy. The production values are pretty superb overall; you can really tell that it had a substantial budget behind it, before it underperformed in Japan at least. Yeah, seems like a really good time overall. Looks like it could end up being one of the 3DS' best RPGs. It's a real shame that it's probably gonna bomb in sales, because the game itself seems pretty great. I'm really glad to see it get localised; it defintely helps to soften the blow of Capcom's Double Cross and it's a lovely addition to the 3DS' late life. The demo is very substantial BTW. It's the entire begining portion of the game and you can carry on from where you left off when you get the full game (I hear it's around 4-6 hours long!). Don't sleep on it people!
  19. Yeah, it's not a bad version of the game per-say, just a very disappointing one. It's certainly not as polished as MH3U was on Wii U, but it's a fine enough rendition. I was just hoping for at least the same TLC they gave to MH3U Wii U... I definitely can't see them localising it though if they've put such little effort into it here... Edit: Have to say that it looks a lot nicer on the handheld screen than on the TV. The shortcomings of the visuals are much less noticeable in handheld mode, making it actually look pretty darn good!
  20. So the demo is out now on the Japanese Switch eShop... It's a very lazy port job, more akin to Portable 3rd HD than MH3U Wii U. It's the 3DS version running in 1080p with the touch screen arts mapped to the directional buttons on the Joycons and nothing more. The textures seem to have all been redone, but outside of this and the resolution boost, the graphics are basically unchanged (no extra lighting, geometry or retouched special effects); even the HUD has been transplanted directly from the 3DS version, looking very pixelated and ropey indeed. There's also no 5.1 surround sound support, which is tremendously disappointing, especially when MH3U got such a fantastic 5.1 surround mix on Wii U. The FMV opening is also kinda low quality (certainly better than on 3DS, but definitely not at the same blu-ray movie quality as on Wii U, probably only 720p video here; again, disappointing after they really put the effort in with the Wii U remaster) Nope, the only new feature is rumble (not HD rumble mind you) and it's only used very sporadically. It's a very barebones and basic port that feels a bit rough around the edges; Capcom clearly didn't really care when they put this out. If this is indicative of their attitude towards Switch, then I wouldn't get your hopes up about future support... On the plus side, it is still Monster Hunter and thus is a great game. I'd still want an English version, but the slapdash nature of this port doesn't give me hope for Capcom's future titles on Switch...
  21. http://jackboxgames.com/2017/08/09/the-jackbox-party-packs-1-2-coming-to-nintendo-switch-on-august-17/?utm_source=Jackbox+Games+News&utm_campaign=d844c9eeb9-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2017_08_8_17&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_e5351605ef-d844c9eeb9-227867285 Jackbox 1 & 2 (yes, both of them!) are coming out on Switch next week! Jackbox 4 re-confirmed for launch on Switch later on this year.
  22. Nice to see, but I can't justify a purchase if it doesn't have the original music. The new soundtrack is terrible.
  23. Nice to see some coverage from them. Dare I hope for some surprise announcements?
  24. Oh it's that time again? Time to break out my trusty atlas...
