PlayStation Classic Announced (3rd Dec 2018)
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Other Consoles
Those are good shouts, but I don't think that we would've been able to get Resident Evil 2 (due to the upcoming remake), Silent Hill (Due to Konami wanting to bury the series and the outbreak of general insanity that they're currently going through) or Parasite Eve (due to Square Enix's general over-protectiveness of their Japanese-side IP here in the west). The rest are quite possible though! I don't necessarily agree with Rayman being removed though. It was one of the best selling games on the PS1, especially in Europe (but even in the US it was one of the system's best selling titles), and it's definitely a game that people associate the PS1 with. It is also the only platformer available for the Playstation Mini outside of Jumping Flash (which is a very different kind of game) and so, it fills a genre hole in the selection very nicely (and representation of the PS1's variety of genres is an important factor to consider when coming up with a list of titles). -
PlayStation Classic Announced (3rd Dec 2018)

What games would you have swapped out and added in? (Bearing in mind the issue of licensing, so games like Gran Turismo, Wipeout and the Tony Hawks series - as much as would've loved to have seen the later - were never viable options) Sticking to the 20 game limit (and the one entry per-series limit); I might have swapped out Rainbow Six, Cool Boarders and Destruction Derby for Symphony of the Night (Konami's stupidity potentially being a blocking factor here), Ape Escape (That would necessitate changing the controller to a Dual Shock replica; which they really should've done to begin with) and Tomb Raider 1. I might have also swapped out Revelations: Persona for Grandia and RE: Director's Cut for Resident Evil 2; but with both games having upcoming Remasters/Remakes? I'm not sure if either Gung Ho or Capcom would've actually have played ball... Likewise I would've loved to see more Konami titles like Silent Hill and Suikoden; but considering how much Konami have gone completely off the rails? It's a miracle that we even got the original MGS to be honest! Honestly though? I actually think the game selection is pretty good really. It's a nice mix of popular titles, some lesser known and oddball ones and I think it reflects the variety of the PS1's library quite nicely. You do have to consider licensing issues here and the fact that a lot of publishers would not necessarily want to end up having the PS Mini competing with their own remakes/remasters of PS1 games (So that would be a problem for games like Resident Evil 2, Grandia, Medievil, PaRappa The Rapper, the Crash Trilogy, the Spyro Trilogy and others). -
Be warned... Youtube is now completely off limits if you do not want Smash Ultimate spoilt! Pirated copies are now circulating the interwebs and pirates, many of which who are posing as "reviewers" who got "early review copies" are spoiling literally the entire game's contents.

A game specific Direct is still a Direct. Wouldn't surprise me if they had a game specific one for Mario Kart Tour (It IS still supposed to be releasing before March after all!). Though personally I'm hoping for one that announces the rumoured Metroid Prime Trilogy HD and Skyward Sword HD (The former of which was originally rumoured to be released in February; so now would be the time to announce it if that's still scheduled for February!)
-
Actually, November/Early December Nintendo Directs are very normal for Nintendo. It's actually weird if they don't have one around this time!
-
And I will love every second of it! Fuck Breath of the Wild and fuck everything it stands for! GIMME PROPER ZELDA! I'd take one Skyward Sword over 10 BOTWs any day!
-
I always knew it was inevitable (I mean, it's the only 3D Zelda left that hasn't yet had a remake or remaster, so... yeah!), but I really hope that remark isn't in jest and that it really is coming soon! I fucking love Skyward Sword!! Finally!!! A real Zelda game for Switch (Yes, I know that Zelda 1 on NES Online counts, smartarse! - I'm obviously talking about native Switch games here ). It's one of my absolute favourites in the whole series, right up there with Majora's Mask! Can't bloody wait!! Love this game to bits! All the game really needs is to have the annoying item pickup notifications turned off, to have Fi's handholding conversations made optional and to have the area transitions smoothed out (ideally made seamless). And no, those motion controls are not going anywhere. The entire game is built around them and they ain't redesigning the entire game to remove them. The Joy-Cons have all of the capabilities of Wii Motion Plus for a good reason! They are being put to use here maties! Also... HD Rumble is gonna be fucking rad as shit here! Never before has stabbing pumpkins and flinging them at people pointlessly ever been so satisfying YES!! GIVE IT TO ME! GIVE IT TO ME NOW!!

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2018-11-21-sega-classic-out-run-headed-to-nintendo-switch Looks like we're not getting Outrun until next year Looks like we are officially going to be trailing behind Japan on an ongoing basis now....

Summoning Salt is back!! This time it's the history of SMB3 Warpless! Naturally it's a fascinating and well produced watch as to be expected from him!
-
Pokemon Typing Adventure is way better than it has any right to be! Even ignoring the utterly mental music, it's a pretty darn solid little title! If you ever enjoyed The Typing of The Dead, this game is for you! Also yes, it's disgustingly hard! I will never beat this game 100%! Pokepark 1&2 are also surprisingly good too! They're not mind blowing or anything, but they're surprisingly decent little games! But yeah, it's all about Pokemon Typing! And that keyboard that it came with was actually really good too! (I actually still use it for my living room PC ) Seriously! Check it out guys!

If we get both games on the same day here in the west, I'll be a happy camper!
-
Not really interested in the game itself, but I'm glad to see that Panic Button seem to have done another bang up job with this port! Now get these guys working on the likes of Resident Evil 2 Remake for Switch please!
-
Bloody hell! A whole month late is nuts considering that everything was already in English in the Japanese release besides the manual! At least they're making up for it with a cheaper price I guess, but still! They had better not make us wait that much longer than Japan for all of the subsequent SEGA AGES releases...
-
@S.C.G, this one’s for you... http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/11/hardware_review_flip_grip_the_dream_peripheral_for_shmup_addicts Glad to hear that it turned out to be a quality little product! I backed this one on Kickstarter, so I’m looking forward to my one arriving soon!
-
Impressions regarding the game's single player modes are pouring out from the media now; be warned, they're not holding back on spoilers!
-
The only thing big about this reveal are the knockers on the front cover
-
SEGA removed the Ferrari logo from the car in the original Outrun and from Turbo Outrun when they were both re-released on 3DS... They can just do the same with Outrunners and Outrun 2 (granted, it would be a bit more work with the latter, but hardly impossible).
-
Fingers crossed for SEGA AGES releases of them! Virtua Racing Switch is a good start; and they've already got Naomi up and running, so it's not impossible! BELIEVE!

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Looks like we got our answer a little early! https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2018-11-18-pok-mon-and-spyro-top-hyper-competitive-week-at-uk-games-retail Edit: WE HAVE NUMBERS!! Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee - 116 000Super Mario Odyssey - ~85 000Pokemon Ultra Sun/Moon - 76 000 Here in the UK? 5% down on X/Y's first weekend and 60% down on Sun/Moon's opening weekend. Not a bad result really, especially considering the userbase size difference and the price difference! I reckon that it'll probably sell similarily to Fire Red/Leaf Green (but will probably end up lower because its legs will likely be killed off when Gen 8 lands next year). What I'm really interested in though is a demographic breakdown. The real question here isn't "how much will Let's Go sell?", but rather "will Let's Go bring in new players who have previously only played Pokemon Go and make them buy a Switch?" Let's Go was never going to match the proper mainline games. It's a remake of a remake after all! (Fire Red/Leaf Green is the main point of comparison here, not X/Y or Sun/Moon); but can it bring in lapsed and new players and get them buying Pokemon games and Switch consoles? That's what Nintendo is really banking on here... The fact that it seems to be selling around the numbers that you'd expect for a Pokemon remake, despite a lot of the typical Pokemon userbase being put off by the changes made, does seem to imply that there is an influx of PoGo players that is currently offsetting the loss... so it does seem to be bringing in some of that audience for now... But I really want to see a proper breakdown! Hopefully Nintendo will give us one in one of their investor meetings soonish! -
I do agree with your sentiment here. I'd love to really get stuck into competitive Pokemon, but the barrier to entry is still too high. It's really holding the series back as a proper eSports game too. I do feel that they need to find a way of integrating Pokemon Showdown into the actual mainline games if they truly want competitive Pokemon to really take off. Maybe introduce a Battle Simulator? Where you can take the Pokemon you've caught and just do Simulator Fights that allow you to just select whatever EV spreads, moves and items you want.
