We are actually due a new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon; but I'm pretty sure that today's announcement will be purely for Gen 8... ... PKMD is usually announced at E3 anyway.

Resident Evil 4, Remake and 0 heading to Switch.
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Oh and this of course! Considering that both RE:R and RE:R2 have it on Switch though; I'd be really shocked if we don't get it with RE4. -
THQ Nordic have snapped up the Timesplitters IP
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I couldn't believe it when I saw it! I simply had to make a thread on here about it. It's absolutely wild!! Just... how!? How does something like this even happen!? It's completely batshit insane! And to think that I was cheering these guys on just a few weeks ago! How can this industry keep fucking up so badly!? It beggars belief! -
So... yeah... This happened! This guy provided a nice summary of events, so I'm just gonna lovingly steal quote his work here... How the hell does this even happen!? How could anyone in their right mind approve of doing this as a moderately large publisher and a publicly listed company!? How utterly brazenly stupid do you have to be!? Surely you could only think of doing this if you actually believed in this ultra right-wing garbage!?

Resident Evil 4, Remake and 0 heading to Switch.

All I want is portable RE4. As long as I get that, the rest is gravy (I would actually want RE:RE 2 of course, but I’ve made my peace with that on Switch). -
BTW: Just to remind you guys... There’s a Treehouse Live happening tomorrow (and over the next few days); so chances are that there might be more than just the initial reveal trailer shown!

Dragalia Lost (Mobile) & Cygames’ partnership with Nintendo
Dcubed replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Does anyone still care at this point? Pathetic how long it is taken them to get it out over here. All the hype is no doubt dead and buried now. -

Resident Evil 4, Remake and 0 heading to Switch.
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Unless Nintendo are paying to publish Capcom’s games for them in Europe; this bollocks will unfortunately continue. Capcom really liked the cushy relationship they had in the 3DS era and are NOT happy with how they got dropped when Switch came around. -
Agree with all of the above, except for the shade thrown to Mega Evolution. I thought it was a brilliant new mechanic and definitely the best new thing that they did with the series since Gen 5! I absolutely loved how it suddenly made "useless" Pokemon completely viable! It literally turned the game on its head and I absolutely loved it! I'm take it or leave it on Z-Moves though. It's basically just a Nuke Button... not really all that interesting really.
-
What’s even more mad is that it was made by SEGA! It’s basically a port of the original GBA game (low res GBA graphics and all), with minor tweaks and changes to fit the arcade format. The arcade cab has a giant GBA d-pad and A button lol! What makes it even more mad is that it’s a NAOMI game; which means that it’s a first party Nintendo game, that Nintendo licensed out to SEGA, to (effectively) port it to the Dreamcast! See! Nintendo went 3rd party years ago!

Supposedly Nintendo are getting a cut of Game Pass playtime/subscription revenue from Game Pass on their platform; going by the rumours...
-
True... I mean, the whole reason why they got into the industry in the first place was to counter Sony and protect Windows... ... but with Google looking to enter the fray with their streaming solution, their lack of success at retail this generation and the company-wide shift towards subscription services (like Office 365 and Azure), this kind of shift does tie into that... ... but then why bother releasing a new console at all then? That’s what I don’t get. Why bother losing money on hardware if you’re planning on fully transitioning to becoming a subscription streaming service? Hell, they’re even apparently doing native ports of their games to Switch! It’s not even a matter of needing bespoke hardware to provide a “physical” copy of a game here; it just seems to run counter to the idea of having their own hardware. Why bother buying an Xbox if it has no exclusive titles? Sure, the Xbox consoles still have a place, even when their titles are also being released on PC (as there is a huge audience of people that would never consider jumping over to PC), but if you’re going to be supporting your rival’s console? Well... it doesn’t serve much of a purpose anymore does it? Bespoke hardware, or pure platform agnostication. Pick one. That’s how I see it.
-
But that DID come true... it was called Pokemon Ultra Sun/Moon! Everything about the rumour ended up being true (right down to the announcement & release timeframe and the inclusion of both new story events and new Ultra Beasts), with the platform being the only thing that was wrong (and that was probably a matter of crossed wires from seeing initial tests of the Gen 7 engine being ported to Switch; which probably did happen at some point). Game Freak are actually very leaky and have been ever since Gen 5... They’re very bad at keeping secrets and a LOT of early rumours from them are turning out to be true now (co-incidentally, it also started happening at around the same time that they hired a lot of foreigners and people who used to work at Genius Sonority...) @Ronnie, I can’t believe that this is true because according to those same sources, Microsoft are due to announce the next Xbox (as a two tiered SKU) this year; for a release in 2020. Why on earth would they do that; and then proceed to shoot themselves in the foot by announcing that they’re going 3rd party on Switch? What kind of insane strategy is this? Why would I buy an Xbox and get excited to buy an Xbox, if they go ahead and announce that they’re gonna start porting all of their games to Switch at the same time!? (Or even worse... before they formally unveil the next Xbox!) And all of this nonsense about Rare now coming back to Nintendo as part of this deal just screams of fan fiction. Besides, Nintendo have publically stated that they have no intention of continuing the line of classic mini consoles; that they were just a temporary line that was designed to fill a hole that was left by the failure of the Wii U. Nintendo is not taking back Rare; the people who made Rare what it is are no longer there anyway. I mean... if it were true; then this would be the single greatest paradigm shift that the industry has seen since the death of SEGA and the introduction of the original Xbox. Only thing that compares is the introduction of the Apple App Store. Sony would have to start reconsidering their entire business model if this move turned out to be true; as it would be a big step towards the commoditisation of traditional (i.e non-Nintendo/specialist) console gaming. And a big step away from traditional console gaming being driven by new and shiny hardware. Game Pass would become Sony’s biggest enemy, not retail games. They would have to triple down on PS Now and position it as their prime offering if they wanted to compete in the same space. It would be a truly disruptive innovation if true and a literal game changer. That’s how unbelievable this move is. We’d be talking about a complete seismic shift in how the traditional game market operates. Completely. Overnight! Excuse me for taking it with a pinch of salt!!
-
I don't believe any of this. Why would they go 3rd party like this on Switch at the same time that they're trying to promote and release their new hardware? Literally shooting themselves in the foot both ways here. Makes absolutely no sense.

Oh shit son! https://www.resetera.com/threads/square-files-trademark-for-collection-of-mana.101181/ Seiken Densetsu 3 in English at long last!?!? Looks like it’s happening!!!
-
Noooo!!!! We can’t lose Reggie!! Who will be the smug face of NOA now!? Legit gonna miss him. Loved his sense of showmanship. He was a great spokesperson. Doug Bowser is a complete wet blanket. No personality at all! End of an era indeed

Random aside. For anyone living in London; it looks like the Las Vegas Arcade in Soho has been doing some expanding as of late... https://www.lasvegasarcadesoho.co.uk/games-machines/ ... they recently got in Rhythm Heaven Arcade, Mario Kart Arcade GP DX and the new Taiko Arcade game (14)! For anyone who has never been lucky enough to go to an arcade in Japan, you might wanna check it out next time you’re near Soho/Chinatown!

Summoning Salt's next documentary is out!

They were indeed responsible for those re-releases; and reaped the revenue share from it. Super Star Wars in particular was actually a port of the cancelled PC version of the original game and NOT the original SNES version; which EA would otherwise have no rights to.
-
My man Lan Di is lookin' good!! No way is this game coming out this year though.
-
Presumably Disney would be the ones who own the rights to the game itself, but EA have the exclusive video game rights to the Star Wars IP right now; so their contract would stipulate that they have full control over the release (or re-release) of any Star Wars game... and lets be honest... they're the very last publisher who would ever allow a game to be released on Switch; let alone a game that people actually want, like Rogue Leaders! They blocked its release on the Wii U eShop, they'll block it again on Switch
-
I'd rather pay for the expansions. At a basic, ethical, level, it's wrong to exploit a vulnerable minority to subsidise the majority. It is never justifyable and it's disgusting that anyone would be ok with exploitation. It's even worse when you consider the insidious damage it also does to the inherent game design (as it inevitably turns into an endless grind that is purposely designed to suck the fun out of the game unless you pay up). Why anyone would even want to play a game that is fundamentally designed to be unfun is beyond me really ; but it is the acceptance of exploitation of a vulnerable few that really irks me. The Fuck You, Got Mine mentality is absoluttely toxic, insufferable and should not be tolerated.

Saw the post on Reset Era about new footage of the cancelled Rogue Leaders game for Wii, got excited and then sad after I realised that I got tricked by a necrobump. Goddammit!! Why can't Rogue Leaders be the game that Nintendo is reviving!? Damn you EA!!
