I feel so sorry for Common Plecos and think that they should be banned from being sold in this country. They grow up to 2ft in length and people buy them to put in 2ft long tanks. Most people don't even bother learning about the adult size of fish when they buy them. What do they think is going to happen to these fish? A lot of tropical fish are actually captured from their natural habitat. A lot of these Plecos are being caught in the Amazon, packaged in plastic bags and then transported all around the world for the aquarium trade. They are lucky to survive the trip. If I was one of these fish, I'd rather stay in the Amazon. I'd like to see a ban on the sale of all fish that grow to over 6-7 inches in the aquarium trade. Common Plecs (2ft), Golfish (1ft) and Iridescent sharks (4ft) are all big no nos! If people cared about animal welfare, they would support such a law. With pets, people often say they "love" them, when it is really just selfish one sided love. People buy Pugs and adore them, when they are really supporting animal cruelty by helping to bring more deformed, suffering dogs into the world. People "love" their pet birds, but make them live their lives in cages to small for them to even fly. A lot of pet owners carry out animal cruelty in the name of "love" for their pets. We are often deluded when we think we actually love them. We are often just making animals suffer for our own comfort. People are so ignorant to think that fish are somehow different from other animals just because of the way they look and live. Many fish are incredibly intelligent and some would easily give a dog (or a 6 year old child) a run for its money. A Cichlid like an Oscar is as clever as a dog and anybody who likes to fish will know exactly how intelligent Carp are. Their memories are as long as their lives and they learn how to overcome even the most advanced fishing rigs. SCG, this is how big Mirror Carp are supposed to grow: You should find a pond, lake or canal and let it go. They survive perfectly well in England.

Goldfish have memories just as good as our own and they can live to 40 years of age. If you keep them in a bowl or a small tank (10 gallons for every inch of each goldfish is the minimum), their skeletons will just become deformed, their water quality will suffer and they will live a life of misery until they drop dead. It was probably better for the goldfish to die than to be alive. Blender is also right. Goldfish aren't social fish (only people think it's a good idea to cram loads into a small space) and will nip the fins of other goldfish and kill them if they have the chance if there is a lack of space in the aquarium. Sorry to be harsh, but Goldfish belong in ponds and not aquariums. Tropical fish are the way to go.

Only in Die Hard 4;) The STOVL variant of the F-35 will only hover when it lands (Short Take Off Vertical Landing). The plane can't do what it does in Hollywood films and it can't manoeuvre in the air like the Harrier. The plane wont be in service before 2015-2016 anyway. I don't think that the F-35 will be that good at Close Air Support... It can carry a max of 8 SDBs in its internal weapons bays (maybe less with the B variant?), while a Typhoon or Tornado could carry up to 18 Brimstones on their external hard points. Stand off missiles are very expensive and overkill for the Taliban and you wouldn't see them using their cannons.. -
What aspect of life do you like the leeeeast?

Waking up in the morning and having exactly the same routine from 7 to 8:25 (always becomes 8:40 or 8:39 if I'm lucky) every single morning without fail. All that changes are the silly BBC headlines. Even when I walk to work, I pass by 3 Chinese mothers with their kids all in exactly the same locations each day..blimey!! they are always in the same order too. I dislike Groundhog Day. -

I watched the last episode of Pole to Pole with Michael Palin, it was pretty good, but the series paled in comparison to Around the World in 80 Days. I'd give the series as a whole 8/10. I watched Monty Python's Happy Valley and Gumpy Brain Specialist sketches. They deserve 8/10 and 10/10. Journey to the West Series 2 (2000) Episode 6: The Arhats defeat the Roc. 11/10.- 3920 replies

Serves me right for hotlinking. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/ed/Spider_crabs_at_the_Kaiyukan_Aquarium_in_Osaka_close.jpg/800px-Spider_crabs_at_the_Kaiyukan_Aquarium_in_Osaka_close.jpg http://www.photopassjapan.com/images/img%206646%20osaka%20wan%20tenpozan%20kaiyukan%20takaashigani%20-%20osaka%20aquarium%20giant%20spider%20crab.jpg War of the Worlds anyone? Their leg span can grow to up to 12ft and they have really tiny bodies. I kind of have a phobia of swimming in the sea.. Rip tides are not nice to be caught in.

The government will probably wait for the media to get bored of covering the shortage stories and then hope that we'll forget about it. The amount of orders that were placed for Merlins, Apaches and Wildcats was a big mistake and it's coming back to haunt them. -

You are right about the US defence budget and how it has rocketed during these conflicts (the navy were planning on building $4 billion destroyers...), but the story is different for the UK: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1540160/Defence-spending-is-lowest-since-the-1930s.html That quotes a 2.5% figure for 2005/6. I believe that it is now just 2.3% of GDP. Defence expenditure isn't growing with the growth of our economy. The percentage of GDP that we spend on the military has halved in the last 20 years. I think it needs to be fixed between 2.5-3%. On top of this, we are also suffering from defence inflation like the rest of the world, which is a lot higher than normal inflation. -
As money is of no concern, I'd just spend millions on everything I could possibly want and just let the island take care of itself, without any buildings or people (or tigers).

Well, its supposedly just a rumour: http://warships1discussionboards.yuku.com/topic/9883/t/Times-Rumour-Mill.html -
British history isn't just British history, our country used to own a huge chunk of the planet and dominated the world's oceans. The US, China (HK), India and etc all used to be British colonies. We also kick started the industrial revolution. I somehow doubt that Belgium has a history that can rival Britain's, unless their people came from another planet.

Yeah, that's illegal and they would get sent to prison. The politicians of this country are disgraceful and our armed forces have been seeing huge cuts in the last few years, especially in the Royal Navy. Our politicians always lie about increases in defence spending and procurement each year, knowing that the people of this country are mostly too ignorant to know any better. Their short term cost saving strategies also add billions to the price of the equipment we purchase, like it did with the CVF, which cost an extra billion (dollars) thanks to delays. Our Type 45 order has been halved from 12 ships to 6, our Astutes have been cut and the FSC that is going to replace our Type 22s and Type 23s seems to have been put on hold indefinitely, leaving us without any surface combatants to defend our carrier and amphibious task forces in the future. The government has been absolutely desperate to cut its Typhoon order for the RAF, but can't thanks to it's politician proof contract. The Army is going to have its manpower cut soon, cutting numbers to less than the 100,000 mark. -
Anybody who thinks that any of his children are 50% African are crazy. Halle Berry and Bob Marley are what half black/half white people look like. Black genes are dominate and black people with white parents just look as black as any other black person. They don't have blonde hair and blue eyes!

When I cycle, I stick to the paths and only switch to the road if no cars are around. I also dismount when I am going past a pedestrian. The roads and paths aren't that busy in my town. Cycling is kind of like an art! Cycling on roads with cars overtaking you is crazy.. I don't feel safe cycling at the speed of a car either. I have been hit by a car once, but that was when I was crossing a pedestrian crossing and the driver didn't stop when the lights went red... Her car totally bent my front wheel by 90 degrees, but I only suffered from a bruised little finger when I was knocked to the ground. I am lucky that she didn't drive over me...

That's one odd film! They added a shanty town into the scenery of KL that isn't even there.:awesome: Its just a normal office building, with a nice shopping centre at the bottom called Suria KLCC. That film was really set in Hollywood lala land.

I was obsessed with Sonic when I was a child and now as an adult, I seem to have an abnormally fast pair of legs. Maybe its inspiration or perhaps its just a coincidence. I'm a fast walker and enjoy long distance running.

Im in the same situation as a few others here, I am in a job, but it was time to move on a year ago.. I was searching just as all of this started to happen. There is less and less to do at work and I am at the mercy of my employers, who seem to get meaner and meaner each day of this recession. I feel like a slave at times (like being expected to do 2 people's jobs on Thursdays and Fridays, with them simply shrugging off my complaints) and often think that redundancy would be better than working at my current place. I don't know how much time I have left there, but need to stick with it and see if I can ride out the current situation and then kick start a better life. At least I am getting paid, even though its not enough. I haven't got a bonus once or ever been appreciated at my current employer. Each day seems to start on a high and then end on a low. I am learning extra skills and developing myself in my evenings and then I have to experience groundhog day for the nth time the next morning..shheesh.. I have almost given up on treating tomorrow as a new day. I am like a pot plant that has outgrown its pot. I've been getting a bit depressed lately and feel as if I'm not doing enough, but I am managing more than I have ever done before with my life, even though my job isnt helping.- 562 replies

BT BroadBand Finally gets an update in speed !
Pyxis replied to Jimjebus's topic in General Chit Chat
"BT Broadband is now increasing its speed from a 8 Megabits Pers second to a nice 20 megabits per second and are also increasing the upload capp from 256-300kbps to 1mbps which will be a nice boost in upload videos and photo's , Although it will only be avaliable to 40% of the country at this moment , only city areas will benefit the most where as homes no where near a local exchange will not receive it" So not everybody can get it then? I am with virgin and have 10mbps, its a bit annoying though as the speed is really random. Some times I can just get 200kbps and last night I got this: 46Mbps! It only lasted for about a minute and then went back to a steady 11.2Mbps -
If you are in KL, pop down to Puduraya and get some tickets for the Cameron Highlands or Taiping.

I heard the door open. Our house is practically soundproof. Look, you said that a policeman who broke into the incorrect address (100 numbers out!) had common sense, congratulations. A man seeing a banana skin in front of him and then slipping on it would also have common sense according to you.
