What I really want to see happen is the 'five lights' story going from 'freak event' to 'new Mutant population boom'. I understand that the X-Office thought they ended up with too many mutants, hence M-Day, but the Mutant concept is so much more compelling when they're a growing group because it was always the motivation behind the Xavier Magneto split. Mutants were unquestionably the future, but how they got there was the key. What Schism will hopefully do is create that similar concept but replace Xavier / Magneto with Cyclops/ Wolverine with a new ideological split for today's audience. I'm bored of the current survivalist vibe, honestly.

I'd recommend online dating Kurtle. I tried it out a few months ago and met my girlfriend - three months later it's going great, my confidence is way up, I'm happier, we're great together blah blah blah. Point is, if you feel a little disconnected from girls and your confidence is down, online dating is a useful tool: It puts you in contact with people who are in a similar situation and, perhaps crucially, gives you a safe means of dipping your toe in the water before meeting someone face to face. There's no stigma to it nowadays, either. Everyone uses the internet and folk are just folk.

That...can't be genuine.

yeah I suppose FI is more wide ranging. There'd be an issue of what to involve and when to stop. But I liked Second Coming's model because it was weekly. You'd get a bit of the main action going on every issue and the story had way more momentum. I'm enjoying FI but it makes me impatient, too.

oh cool. is that everything? I really liked the way they did that event across the whole X stable. It's a much more effective way of doing events than the model they're following in Fear Itself.

Yeah I might do. I saw the Marvel releases for next week and there's literally nothing out that I'm reading atm. Pretty shocking.

yeah. Except Deadpool. I know he's popular but...he's just not right. Deadpool books are satire - he's totally unsuitable for team books, especially ones like X-Force.

I really liked the art in Avengers. I think Romita really has a handle on the Red Hulk (Who I really like, despite it all) and having him smash around with Ben was awesome. It looks and feels like two super strong characters knocking the fuck out of one another. Which is a plus. Almost caught up with all things X now. Uncanny X-Force continues to be the best of the bunch, but it also feels weird. The stuff they do doesn't really justify their covert nature from the other X-Men. Planning to assassinate Apocalypse was a maybe, but they only found out he was still a child part way through- until then there's no reason Cyclops and the rest wouldn't have gone after him too. The other stuff I don't think really justifies their separate existence - particularly the Dethloks. It's just not like it used to be where they were out to straight up murder the shit out of evil bastards. Those were the days... It's fucking brilliant anyway. Who cares?

They made a Wolverine film?

It's worth checking out. Marvel vamps aren't really like traditional types popularised of late so you might get in to it.

Hahahahaaha ___ After catching up on Uncanny yesterday, I'm doing X-Men today. It's actually really quite good - feels a bit fresher than Uncanny and despite the obvious 'me too!' element to it, the vampire story was really well handled. Some great action, some cool story, nice little twists and a quality finale. Can't say fairer than that. Art is boss, too. It's sometimes a little too smooth for me, but the action is top class stuff. Really clear, solid framing and really good motion.

Yeah Erik hunting Nazi's was profoundly awesome. If that's not the next Bond right there, something is wrong with the universe. Gibbs: What errors?

Yeah that was great. Say what you will about the films but that's a perfect bit of casting right there.
