  1. I'd still say Avengers Academy is their best book, with Uncanny X-Force and Thunderbolts in hot pursuit. Oh, and Children's Crusade is absolutely amazing but it's only bi-monthly. A while ago I would have said Invincible Iron Man but I don't think the Fear Itself tie ins have been much good- certainly not consistently. Iron Man vs Grey Gargoyle in Paris was amazing but this whole dwarf thing and Pepper and....urgh. It's been really quite shit since. Really poor, which is odd considering Fraction is writing it AND the Fear Itself series.

  3. I had fruit flies in my house in second year at uni. The girls I lived with insisted on basically trying to bake our house with the central heating day in day out so when the temperature fell in September, the flies found our nice warm house and decided to live there. Forever. Not really sure how we got them in the end but I think we managed to drop the temperature enough to kill them off, as well and being ruthlessly clean for a bit and taking away all their food.
  4. It's cool, but as it's basically one fuck off punch up, I'm not really loving it. I do like it though, and I think it's leading to good things in a few books- especially Iron Man and Thor. Schism is better I think, because it's taking the franchise in a radically different direction than what's been done before in a really interesting way and has had a fair bit more character to it. Spider-Island is really good too actually. Forgot about that. I hope it doesn't change Spider-Man too much though because I really like the whole angle they've found with Peter working in science properly and moving past the maligned 'menace' thing, which is really tired now.
  5. Is anyone else kind of waiting out the summer events at Marvel? Fear Itself is OK and Schism is really good, but what comes next really interests me more, particularly for the X-Men. Children's Crusade ends at the same time too so we have 3 big stories heading towards a unified status quo shift that sounds a lot more interesting than what's currently going on. Hum!
  6. You filthy sausage roll slut! (also: Cheers!)
  7. psst, Goafer! Have you posted the pad yet?
  8. It's kind of cover based, all about line of sight and timing. You have the ability to spring between cover by doing SWAT turns, rolls and so on between two points so stealthing through sections is about picking a route, staying out of sight and timing moves between cover. There's no arbitrary stealth meter or hiding in shadows either- if it looks like you'll be seen, you will. It's also pretty fast, which is good.
  9. Straight up, holmes.
  10. FUUUUUUUUUU- yeah, I heard it wasn't worth it but I bought the other three and they am boss. Really good fun.
  11. I think it was a self declared GOTY. It wasn't that highly rated at review I don't think. But don't worry, the DLC is tops. Collectively, they're actually a better effort than the main game I reckon. Except Moxxi, which is just a naff arena thing. The actual story ones (Dr.Ned, General Knoxx and Claptrap's Robot Revolution are brilliantly done, though.
  12. Irony lolz: I find Wii controls borderline impossible, but that's more to do with me being a lolspaz.
  13. Yeah. You know. Exactly my point..
  14. Woah, two page thread while I've been at my girlfriend's. Ok! Well yeah as pointed out by a few others, I R mega Southpaw. Obviously my disability, which reduces motor control on my right side in laymans, makes me something of an extreme case, but I'm not the only one who can't play a lot of games normally. Here's a test: Anyone who says 'you can just learn!' should do exactly that. Go and switch on Halo or Call of Duty (both of which offer excellent control configuration. Yay!) and switch from regular controls to Southpaw. Then learn to play it as well as you could before. Then, when you inevitably fail, imagine never being able to switch back. That's life for a lot of left handed gamers. How this is somehow industry standard is completely baffling, borderline discriminatory and speaks very poorly on gaming's record on accessibility and widening participation as a whole. Just look at Jayseven's issues with subtitles and audio choices for another example.
  15. Falling behind
  16. Yeah! Although Goafer just offered to lend me a modded pad for 360 sooooo....
  17. I, for one, certainly can't learn to switch. I'd be left handed anyway, but I also have a disability that makes my right side even worse. I can manage basic stuff with my thumb like straffing because that's basically just ramming the stick to one side but I could never line up a crosshair. Just how it is. Really, there's no reason to not include alternatives. How hard can it be? Certainly not as hard as somehow learning to be right handed.
  18. It arrived. Sadly, because Edios are unbelievablely massive fucking idiots, I cannot play it. The game doesn't support alternative control set ups at all and because I'm left handed, I can't play the game I've been looking forward to the most in years.
  19. hmm! Just checked and my order is still 'processing'. Guess we'll see. Post should be here soon.
  20. Anyone taken a look at the new Punisher comic? It's fucking brilliant. Not only is the art sphincter clenchingly good, but they've taken the series in a really interesting direction: Frank Castle never says a word. In fact, he's not in it much at all - The Punisher is presented as a kind of force of nature who just turns up and blows people away. The plot, meanwhile, is handled by an extended cast of cops, the press and gangsters. Totally worth a read. It's great.
  21. I did something similar a couple of years back. One of my long term friends was...well, in hindsight, a total cock pretty much as long as I'd known him. He was just staggeringly incompetent with people. Totally emotionally stunted and had no tact or naunce in his relationships. I'd had a kind of adversarial friendship with him for a while as he basically systematically isolated himself from every one of his former friends (my friends!). After a while, he became increasingly difficult to tolerate and, finally, he made a crack about my disability in front of a bunch of people I'd only recently met at university. I just decided enough was enough and cut all ties with him instantly. He just wasn't worth my time.
  22. agreed, it;s great fun. Was a little confused until I worked out that executions give you health, but it's a great mechanic for a game about Space Marines. Only by being bloody, ruthless, brutal and as violent as possible can you succeed. Absolutely shitting love the assault jet pack too. It's so RWWAAR! In fact, one of the game's clear strengths is in portraying the sheer physical crunch of the 40k combat. Bolters finally feel like the little grenade launchers they're supposed to and the marines feel like hulking killing machines. Fantastic.
  23. Just placed my order. I'll let you know if it comes back to haunt my nightmares. If they change it, shopto get my cash and these guys can suck it.
  24. BUMP demo time! http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-GB/Product/Warhammer-40-000-Space-Marine-Demo/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802545188a1
  25. Fair enough. I suspect it's just down to having to make the skin for a model that's actually a fair bit bigger than intended.
