I'd think there'll be some form of native american game-age, even if they aren't actually playable. Either that or playing the yanks will be WAY too easy.

Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop (BEST NAME EVER?!)
McPhee replied to Boomstick's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I'm not too happy about the removal of time-based events tbh, it was just about the only thing that made you think in the game. Now it sounds like it'll just be a hack & slash game Also wft is up with removing the camera? Still, i'll give it a chance. Hopefully it still has it's charm You could only save in 2 locations in the whole Mall. This lead to a bunch of pussys moaning because they couldn't do the 'save, fail, re-load, retry' system. It also meant long runs through hoards of zombies to get to a save spot, so not a good game to play if you need to leave your house any time soon. Personally i liked the save system, it was a challenge and actually added difficulty and an element of strategy to the game. -
A new Counter Strike is in the works already, it's been confirmed for months. It might just be an updated version ala DoD or it could actually be a new game, Valve haven't said which yet. Either that or i'm going crazy, pretty sure i read an interview a few months ago that said they are making it.

woohoo! cannae wait! it might well be the first MMO i've ever subscribed to

I guess it just remains to be seen how much data can be crammed on to one disk. Maybe they'll do dual sided disks, the top half is the install, the bottom half is the play disk, you'd be looking at over 15GB per disk that way. Repeat for disk 2 and that should (hopefully) be the lot and without too huge an install (5-8GB). Wait til you see whats round the bend Phones are becoming pretty powerfull and i know NVidia are working on some pretty powerfull chips right now. Gamecube in the palm of your hand sort of powerfull! I would think the mobile FF game will be for fairly powerfull phones tbh.

Because he's a goddam powerfull politician and possible future President? It's good to have powerful people in your pocket

Is this PS3 only? OR is the PC getting it as well? It sounds awesome! I hate the levelling up in MMOs, it's such a crap idea. Making it skills-based is ingenious! And i love the idea that existing heroes and villains go about their business in the same world you're playing in! Stumbling across a battle between Batman and The Joker in the dead of night will be awesome!

Thats pretty cool. I know next to nothing about Naruto, but i enjoyed the first game!

And you'd have the fun and games of being branded a paedophile! Go team! : peace:

I bloomin well knew it was his voice, it was the little rapping bit that threw me! It's not something you'd get in a Bowling For Soup song and i didn't know he had other projects. Cheers

LG have been doing the touch screen thing for ages, they aren't jumping on the band wagon. Same goes for Sony Ericsson, the P-Series have had touch screens for years! If you want people who are jumping on the touch screen band-wagon then try Siemens, Motorolla and all the other manufacturers that don't do high end phones. Touch screens are only new in the low-end cheap crap that these guys churn out.

Unconfirmed as of yet (AFAIK) but it's from the early 1700s up to 1820-ish. CA have already stated they can't do that yet, it's outside of the boundaries of what their engines can render at any given time. It would also give players far too much to manage at any one time. They are making a map that is vastly out of scale and proportion instead and just changing movement speeds to keep traveling distance realistic. I'm hoping for China, Japan etc. but the chances of them appearing are very slim based on current rumour, they're even missing out a lot between Europe and India, just to squeeze India and Indonesia in to the game.
-
You can't play the game without the disk, games on the HDD will still check the disk is in the drive to verify that you own the game.

Yup, we're getting Europe, America (from Canada down to Central and possibly South America), Asia Minor (basically Europe to the edge of Iran etc.), Northern Africa, the Indian sub-continent and possibly some other areas as well. Easily 50 factions in that lot! Known playable factions so far: Britain The Thirteen Colonies (America) Sweden United Provinces(Netherlands) Poland-Lithuania Russia Prussia Venice Spain France Ottoman Empire Plus the Mughals of India, although they aren't confirmed to be playable yet. Release date of 9th February at the moment. It's a shame it' not out this year, but i suppose it gives me time to save up for new kit! Gonna need a new CPU + Graphics card for this beast methinks!

A new trailer for Empire: Total War has been shown at this years E3, along with a nice little hint at what ground the campaign map will cover. A higher quality version of the video can be found here: http://uk.pc.ign.com/dor/objects/958390/empire-total-war/videos/Empire_FullTrailer_071008.html And an IGN hands-on preview here: http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/888/888181p1.html

Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop (BEST NAME EVER?!)
McPhee replied to Boomstick's topic in Nintendo Gaming
YAHOOOOOOOO! : peace: Finally some good news! Can't bloody wait! One of the best games on the 360 this! No need to fix it, it simply won't be an issue on the Wii because the range of resolutions it can output in is extremely low -
Sony CEO says Wii is "more of an expensive niche game device"
McPhee replied to Jamba's topic in Nintendo Gaming
The Wii is expensive. Sure, it only retails for £180 compared to the £300 for the PS3, but the Wii is a very expensive console to own. It has an increasing focus on peripherals; Wiimotes cost £30, Nunchucks cost £15, Classic controllers cost £15, the Balance Board costs somewhere in the region of £50, MotionPlus will retail for around £20 and the Web Browser costs a fiver (IIRC). If you want a basic Wii experience, single player with only the Wiimote and the Nunchuck then it's cheap, but the £120 difference between the Wii and PS3 soon disappears when you start adding more players and peripherals. The same can't really be said for the PS3, it costs £300 and you can buy 2 Sixaxis controllers for £30. It's fully kitted out for under £350. And the Wii is a niche console within the market that Sony are going for. I assume thats what he was trying to say. Nobody would be mad enough to try and insist it's niche within the market as a whole. That is most likely true, they stand to make a hell of a lot more money out of Blu-Ray than they ever could from the PS3. Once Blu-Ray starts to gain momentum they'll likely use that to shift more PS3s (though i'm thinking a price drop to £200 is needed first, then PS3s will start flying off the shelves). -
Yes, but what i was saying is that i'm pretty sure Rare kept the rights to their games after the split. That was what Rare got out of the deal, they signed over their claim to any games containing Nintendo IPs and gained the rights to all games not containing Nintendo IPs. That also fits with the Goldeneye story, IIRC it's release was stopped by Activision rather than Nintendo?
-
Yeah, can't wait on seeing what the iPhone and iPod Touch have in store for them. It's a pretty good gaming platform by the looks of it and is potentially a strong competitor to the DS (hell, on paper it's a DS beater)! PC-wise i'm expecting no surprises. Half Life 2: Episode 3, Counter Strike 4, Empire: Total War, Fallout 3, maybe a little bit on the next Elder Scrolls game. The usual basically. I was hoping for Microsoft to launch Live on to Windows properly. It wasn't in their press conference so i guess thats a no, i'm now hoping it's a standart feature in Windows 7.
-
I thought Rare left Nintendo with the rights to all their games and franchises, barring the ones that had Nintendo owned IPs in them. Nintendo also got the likes of Diddy Kong and Krystal, despite them being characters made by Rare. I can't be arsed to find details of the split, but i'm pretty sure Rare kept the franchises and the games as their part of the Nintendo-Rare-Microsoft deal.

I like it, very similar to Window's Media Centre (i've not seen the conference or any vids yet, just going off the images). Looks like a nice improvement over the current (cluttered) interface and the new features are great! Can't wait to use em! The themes are all compatable with the new interface. Gamerpics? Who knows, maybe they'll find some use for em...

No sub on the T20s, and they were the best 2.0 PC speakers on the market until Creative launched the T40s

I'm worried by the words "extra value" in the description and the brand name that i've never heard of before. Could be a bargain, but they could also be shite. I've got a pair of Logitech X-230s in front of me, pretty good for the price i paid. They've now been replaced by the X-240s, a tenner cheaper: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/126176 No idea if they are as good as the 230s, but i would hope they are. Also got a pair of Logitech Z-4s in the house, truly stunning for £50! As it's for TV Creative's GigaWorks T20s might be a bit better than the Z-4, i've heard they are better with voices.

Sounds like the sort of rant you'd expect from a 'gaf user :p
