You can buy 3rd party stuff but Apple hardly make any effort to support it. Take the MP3 player example: Apple have iTunes. iTunes only works properly with an iPod and music bought from the store can only be played on an iPod, Mac, PC and certain mobile phones. You can use it to sync to 3rd party products but this is done via drag + drop Windows has Media Player. It can sync with every portable player around. For purchasable music Microsoft have PlaysForSure, matching up a large selection of stores with a large selection of players. Which is the better system?

I'd say thats pretty much true. Especially with Halo 3 Beta. Theres nothing to say what you are meant to be doing or where you are meant to be going and thanks to the crappy chat system if you are new to the game its nigh-on impossible to ask someone to explain Gears i didnt find to bad, the game is fairly simple in its objectives and they were explained to me by people who have been playing since release. The learning curve for the actual combat is quite steep though

Fair do's. But my first point wasn't just restricted to file types, it was just the example that was there. In the broader context: If you buy an Apple machine you are expected to run Apple's hardware, software and peripherals. Its a nice system but i'll take my freedom of choice and ability to run almost any piece of hardware/software over that any day

Some people read WAY too much into this game. How can you get to the point where you take games so seriously that you dismiss fun characters because "their skill potential isn't the high enough"? It really does make some of you guys sound obsessed, like you spend more time studying the game than you do enjoying it...

How is Apple creating its own exclusive file types a point in favour of Macs? Its irritating and sums Apple up completely, they don't like anything that isn't Apple. At All. There you have one of my 2 reasons for not liking Macs. The other is Apple make their software so damn user-friendly that its actually restrictive of functionality. Although this is just my experience of Apple software running on a PC (and therefore directly compared to PC apps)

End of the year. Gonna be an interesting Christmas for online FPS! Bioshock, Halo 3, UT3, Orange Box and no doubt some others that are worth looking at

Laptopsdirect.co.uk thats where i got mine, good selection. Avoid Acer though, not sure if they fixed it but there is a design flaw in the Travelmate casing that results on in breaking every 6 months or so (im on my 3rd case and £100 poorer for the privilege) Does it ever occur to you that by getting more people to "Go Mac" you are increasing the number of users and therefore the number of viruses and hacks that will be written/found for macs? How very selfless of you...

I never played Halo 2 online Gears is pretty much the first online game ive played that uses voice chat. The PC was mostly text and i hardly play any other console games online

He had his uses, his exploding sword attack thingy was hella powerful. I used to give him to crap players, defend him while he charged then throw opponents at him. Devestating

Just been checking my stats, 14 games and ive never come lower than 2nd! Didn't think i was doing that well! tis pretty inconvenient if you happen to need urgent help though (i.e. you are being beaten upon by a few enemies but the other team can hear you too, which is just stupid and confusing and really annoying when you're trying to surround them

Thats an R71, yes. R7 and R8 are series with various models in them (eg R71, R74, different models but same series). All models in a series are basically the same with slight differences (freeview/no freeview, different colour etc)

Not too sure about this, if true then its the only proper Wii mod-chip around. So far theres only drive chips Been done already As above Maybe, but its nothing new. The Xbox was more moddable than that and didn't really have many problems from it. Personally the prospect of Wii Media Ceter makes any other compromises worth it! I'd install one of these in a heartbeat
