  1. I thought the LG was costing you £400? I was suggesting it as alternative to that and the £414 Sharp. The deal i posted has the Tosh down as £438.24 after discount codes, the set is easily worth the extra over the LG and the Sharp. Read a few reviews of it Toshiba 32C3030D
  2. This really is what i love most about the iPhone. You say this and yet really Apple are just raising the bar. It's a good thing the iPhone is coming because now Symbian will have to make the next version of they're OS a lot more user friendly and a lot better looking! (no, im not going to be converted from symbian, ever) Yes it is. But the iPhone isn't going to change the problem i had with the Prada's keypad. The accelerometer wouldn't have been usefull in the N91. It isn't even practical in the iPhone (google it), a button would have done a better job of rotating the screen. Im not sure what "visual voicemail" is tbh but the N91 did the other 2 things, and is 18 months old now! I'd like to see Nokia replace it tbh, it's the best phone i've ever used (and i've been through a lot of them)! Mulititouch is incredibly practical and I think you need to use it before judging negatively. The way it handles photos is stunning and the OS looks perfect. Series 60 on phones is also good however.
  3. Ashley, for that money i'd look at this: http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87329&highlight=32C3030D Gizmo, i'll read you're post later. Im in a rush and it's WAY too long :p
  4. My N91 did all of that stuff, the only difference is the iPhone does it with a touch screen and a nicer looking OS. The multitouch screen is certainly an innovation though, just not a particularly practical one tbh my hate of touch screens stems from demo-ing a Prada for a week (review sample). I was trying to send a text whilst eating breakfast, but because i had to look at the phone to type i ended up spilling milk + cereal everywhere. Not good. Ultimately i'd rather see Apple make a more practical phone and turn the iPhone concept into iPDA. The iPhone would work a lot better as a PDA than it does as a phone (another thing that makes the "no 3rd party apps" annoying)
  5. Did you buy it?
  6. It's all very well being innovative, but wheres the sense in innovation without function? I'll buy an iPhone when a number of things happen: 1. They give me a keypad. The iPhone's touch screen keypad is useless, you actually have to look at it to use it! 2. They give me 3G data access. Maybe even go 1 step better and offer support for 4MB/s HSDPA! Edge is WAY too slow. 3. They include a Video camera. 4. They enable Stereo Bluetooth for wireless headphones. 5. LET OTHER PEOPLE WRITE APPS FOR THE PHONE!!!!!!! There is more, but these are the most important to me personally. Im also not really convinced they've done anything innovative. They've replaced buttons with a touch screen and added a tilt switch to rotate the screen (which doesn't actually work properly). The old fashioned button would have done a better job of both functions :p The OS however is very nice. Hopefully it will spur Symbian into making they're (vastly superior) OS more user friendly (i.e. prettier) Damn. Guess im stuck with Nokia and Sony Ericsson for the time being then
  7. Buy an analogue TV card for you're computer (or a graphics card with video capture) and plug the box in to it. If you want to schedule video then you need a USB IR Blaster. This will allow the computer to change the channels. The only problem with these is sometimes the computer can get confused and set the wrong channel (like if you changed the channel on the box at some point and didn't tell the computer). Only other way is by using a DVB-C card. Theres currently no legal way to decode the signal so i won't go into the hows
  8. Wow, that does look pretty sweet! I might actually get that if it comes over here lol @ iPhone comparison (yes, another one where it gets owned)
  9. Yay 3 months and counting until my 360 has an 'accident'! If i was that guy i'd put the console on eBay lol, he'd make a bloomin fortune!
  10. yeah, good luck with that... EDIT: damn, beaten to it Well the problem is you keep going on like the sun shines out of the (hypothetical) arse of every Mac in the world. The more you do it the more people will point out these little things.

    Bioshock

Me? Pirate games? Never!!! I just value £10
  12. As promised guys. Get you're cheap consoles at Gamestation! http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86060 This will work with anything as it's just straight store credit Im checking my local GS 2moz then ordering!
  13. All depends on the res you run the game at. The higher the res the more GRAM you need. A 512MB card is usually advisable for displays 20" and up because they're resolution is at least 1680 x 1050

    Bioshock

Theres no multiplayer in this game, right? Might get it on PC, a lot cheaper
  15. You can already get a 360 for £220. I've seen a fair few deals price them around that, will PM you + post here next time i see one Still, the price drop is good news
  16. Funny guy. Right too, the reasons to own an iPhone are limited to: 1. Apple Fanboy 2. iPhone makes me cool! Nobody that actually needs smartphone features is going to buy one because Symbian OS phones do a far better job.
  17. Try this: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Canopus_DV_File_Converter If that doesn't work then PM one of the Mac lot or post in the Mac thread, .dv is a mac file type!
  18. Was you're mates 40" an LCD or Plasma though? Plasmas actually work quite well for SD stuff, unfortunately they are big (37"+) and expensive (£600+). Everyone is different, some notice the problems associated with LCDs, others don't. It's all about what works for you I'd go into a store and demo some units, bet some will even let you bring you're Wii and demo the sets. Find one you're happy with, note the model number and find a web price (internet is usually a lot cheaper).
  19. Yup, theres a Windows update out. I only know because Apple decided to strap they're bloody updater on to my OS, i've tried to get rid of it but so far i've failed! This thing is harder to remove than most viruses! Could it be the new Real Player/AOL?
  20. For the average consumer, none. There are some very techy differences though, but none are really an issue unless you are running a £10k home theatre system (in which case Blu Ray is better) Sony didn't win the DVD thing, if anything they lost. They're intention was to make a more reliable DVD standard to replace DVD-R. In reality all they succeeded in was confusing consumers and pissing off the DVD forum.
  21. Yup. Its the screen thats the problem. LCDs have a fixed resolution. Whatever they are manufactured at is what they display, so a 720p LCD will only display 720p. You can put other stuff into the set, but the processing invents or deletes lines until the resolution is the same as the screen. The problem is, inventing lines isn't a good idea... The only way around this is to have a set that can vary it's resolution. So far the only consumer level technologies that can do this are CRT and Plasma, and both of these have they're draw backs. Give it a few years and either a HD Wii will be out or new TV tech will be out that can vary the resolution on a flat panel (too much info?)
  22. I would say consider what you use the most then. LCDs = Good for 360, not so good for Wii + TV CRTs = Good for Wii and TV, not so great on 360 (although 360 at 480p is a lot better than Wii upscaled to 720p) Don't buy an LCD just because it's "future proof". If you don't need an LCD now then wait and buy it when you do. By then the prices will have tumbled further and you're £300 will get you a lot more. I haven't done the upgrade yet myself, still using this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-14PT2666-Nicam-Portable-radio/dp/B00008Z9XI I've no intention of buying an LCD TV any time soon. Im going to upgrade to a 28" CRT + 22" PC Monitor combo because it gives the best of both worlds (and a total of 50" viewing space for the same price as a 32" Samsung :p)
  23. iTunes is a pile of poo. They give you crap license restrictions that are guaranteed to be broken. At least they are rubbish at coding DRM, if they weren't then i'd never shop from them again!# I'll probably have a BD drive in my computer by Christmas. T hey are down to around the £130 mark already and given they launched around £300 i can see them being little over £50 by then
  24. What are you panning on using it for? My current recommendation, assuming space isn't an issue, is to buy a 22" LCD monitor with component connections for PC, 360 and PS3 use and get a CRT for TV, DVD and Wii. It means taking up more space but the price of a good 22" monitor + a decent 28" CRT comes to about the same as a decent LCD TV and you get better pictures for it! Alternaively, the best 32" LCD in that price bracket is this: http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/129151/rb/0 If the main use is Wii or TV then i don't recommend you buy an LCD though
  25. I'll probably get this. Getting a little bored of shooters anyway and if there no multiplayer in Bioshock then im even less interested...
