i think it is, is it not? or is it one of the following games to come from ubisoft? fish, calm down, the online service will be up and running quicker than any competitors' services have been. you've gotten urself hyped up, but in reality they can't have games online from day one. we have opera and vc and lots of cool new ways to play games, online will come in a few months, no biggie. nintendo will deliver, and having these other things online outta the box is better than anyone else has ever done, so give them credit!! right now, anyone disappointed with this only has themselves to blame as ninty never said there'd be any at launch. bit like the GDC, we all (myself included) got ourselves hyped up, when in hindsight there was nothng to point to the need for it. if you don't wana buy these games that's ur choice.

that site doesn't have a clue what it's talking about, trying to report this as news! and they have this to say: "If the poster is real, this could mean that we'll be playing Wii earlier than the Sony fans will play the PS3! ". uuhhh... nnooo....

oh for heaven's sake... and how can they possibly know the size of those other stars so far away when they can't even stop arguing over stuff in our own system. bloody scientists lol! -

that GDC special teaser trailer was pure genius -
the ds was "wifi" ready outta the box but the system simply had to be set up after they knew if the console was a success. now i know they're not gonna wait that long with Wii and i'm sure they are simply optimising a new system for Wii. all i'm saying is that people are assuming negative things far too easily!! i put it down to frustation because we know we're so close yet we know nothing yet. after the 14th i'm sure a lot of people will calm down. we don't know anything about the system, about friends codes, nothing. we can't judge yet. and just because there's no launch online titles doesn't mean nintendo are making mistakes. no new online service has launched at launch (bad sentence structure there ) but with opera and vc outtathe box instead of nothing at all, we know it's not too far off. patience is a virtue, let's leave things till the 14th and see what happens. and on a personal note, apologies if i seemed irate with you shadow and kazza, i'm not, it's just frustrating for me too, but i'm trying to keep an air of optimisn amongst all this as i think everything is pointing towards very positive things. eg. opera and vc outta the box meaning the full service won't take a yer like other systems'. and another eg. maybe we don't know anything because it's a brand new system with the DS mistakes rectified...? think positive, we'll all live longer to enjoy Wii

your antialiasing argument doesn't stand up i'm afraid. again, you are basing this on bad screenshots (there's been plenty of bad screenshots in magazines even after a game is released that make it look more blocky than it is, DS ones especially but its happened all over) and video footage filmed off tv screens. any "proper" footage or screens i have seen may still be unfinished but by heck it is antialiased!! well said. i know it doesn't work the same way, but just to show you how people misconceive things: in the tv industry people think tv shows are finshed months ahead of them being shown, but (in america especially!) quite a few shows can still be filming a few weeks before transmission. ok yes, off topic, but i had a point in there somewhere lol, musta got lost jk! anyway, we can't say anything until we have the games in front of us (same with the online system which i'm sure is also getting optimised up to launch). system error you seem to be ignoring anything that is officially a proper piece of footage or a proper screen. i've seen shots of some rayman screens that look like they've no anti-aliasing, yet you can see the same screen elsewhere and it looks lovely! some screens are taken badly, reduced or increased in size to fit web pages etc etc... you can't judge yet!

have to admit tho, it looks fun may even end up being a better way to show off Wii to friends than Wii sports -
if they were gonna just use exactly the same system they woulda said by now and there'd be online games at launch, so its different. i dunno how, but it is. and i have faith in the nintendo brand to produce an entertaining online system that'll be FREE! seems a lot of people are just happy to complain about anything! graphics have come under attack, online has, hell even the gameplay has when NONE of us have gotten our hands on it yet! just wait! be patient guys and gals, we don't know anything yet. internet hype has got us expecting lots of things and then we've blamed ninty for not delivering when they never promised certain things in the first place(!). and now we've all turned doomsayers and are slamming a service that we know NOTHING about based on ONE game not being online. (and this is no different than other online launches!) it's ridiculous!!

obviously this guy just sucks at games -
sure all the advertising guff at the start stated that it would connect via wifi later down the line. true, true. and yes opera is built in, so the online system WILL be up and running from day one. they are probably just gonna be refining it right up to launch to ensure the best possible service, so you'll get opera and VC straight away, and then come 2007 the online games will appear too. gives us something to look forward to i'm glad the system isn't being rushed to launch. (so fish, {puts on best "Brookside voice"} caylm daown, caylm daown ) didn't they say at e3 that you could visit other people's towns while they slept? didn't they use that as the best example of wiiconnect24...? maybe i'm wrong... haven't slept much recently lol so funny the way some people are getting so agitated over one game... hehe, nicely edited

did you even look at the screens above?? lol
-
i like the smaller plug for the nunchku, instead of the original one that was the same width and height as the wiimote... god! this console is so close you can almost smell it!!

lazy boy, you are spot on! and i have to say, in my honest opinion, the more realistic games on the 360 are trying to be, the less "real" they look, you know? look at table tennis, it tries so hard to be realistic, but to me it just makes it MORE obvious that they are computer-generated people, and they end up looking plastic, to me at least! when i play a game i want to lose myself in it, not be aware that this is trying so hard to be real, because games for the forseeable future will ALWAYS look like games, so stop trying to look photo-realistic, it takes away imagination and stops (me anyway) from gettng deep into it when the graphics disturb me lol. all that new technology in 360 and ps3 should be being used to expand gameplay as well as graphics. gameplay looks to be just the same as before on those systems, and i've only seen a few games that i think look good, ones that use the power for massive playing fields for just one example (instead of trying to make your character trouser bulge photo-real!). Wii will have superb graphics but won't try for photo-realism and that's great for me. it means i can be immersed within these games with the controller and my imagination won't be cut short by plastic ken doll wannabes with their "oh so life-like hair and shirts"! action man in the 70's had real hair and that was just wrong!! those tony hawk screens look awesome! and this is a 1st generation title from a 3rd party!! think what they'll be achieving next year and i must say i'm getting zelda after launch as i really wana play metroid as it has been built from the ground up for Wii.... trust me, Wii will be excellent to look at too. now stop juding by delopment screens and wait! lol.
-
calm down people! lol! as has been discussed elsewhere, any new online system will take a few months after launch to be fully set up, just like the original xbox. 360 was ready to go because it was basically using the same system. the ps3 won't have their's ready either! so a company has to decide whether to wait until it's ready, or release now without online but maybe release the sequel next year with it. nintendo's online system sounds like it's going to be ready sooner than the original xbox's was anyway! and all this commotion just proves that the Wii online services aren't just the same as the DS they must be a completely new system, which is what people were hoping for on here!! now we're gonna be getting something new and fresh and that excites me. yeh sure it means 3rd parties will be a few months before they can release online games but so what? it's the same on any new online service! we've got ninty's games, and some superb offline 3rd party ones to do us until then. i'm hyped about Wii online, and reading the positive posts that some people have posted about this (when they've sat down and thought it thru) makes me look forward to it more. at the end of the day, this was the only 3rd party game that said they'd be online at launch. so it's not much of a loss. if they hadn't made a stupid mistake in their press release we'd be fine. come 14th september everything will (hopefully) be revealed, and come 2007 we'll have the best controller and the best online service i bet
-
why don't people READ what other's have suggested instead of huffing and just posting first?! xbox live took MUCH longer on xbox to get going, even first party title-wise! the DS didn't have many 3rd party online support... nintendo will release plenty of onlline games at launch foor Wii and they'll be ready to go! 3rd parties will be able to do so as of january or soon thereafter!! this is nintendo making sure they do a PROPER online service for us!!!! why can't people be happy with that?! and it's launching at the launch of the console with their first party games!!! (or at the very latest a coupla months in! big deal!!) and the VC! AND any other online service has taken MUCH longer after launch to get ready! so in actual fact nintendo are doing it BETTER than the competition ever has (so i can tell so far!)!!! questworld, in much quicker a time scale than other consoles before it (and i wager quicker than ps3, coz i bet it won't be ready to go online for a while) you'll be playing online FPS games on a brand new nintendo online service with the wii controllers. have patience my friend, patience...
-
did you even READ the posts on here or just reply straight away? i think the posts above give ample reasoning behind all this, and if anything point to a much better online service than we originally thought! never mind the point that this is the same as when ANY new online service has appeared on consoles. i'm getting sick of people instantly flaming nintendo these days before they've even properly thought things thru!!
-
brilliant dante! mp3 player now too? fantastic! nintendo keeps on surprising us
-
yeh, ur probably right, and even if ps3 IS online straight away i bet it's severly limited. makes sense that ninty will want to keep all this top secret for now, then launch a large selection of their own online games to show 3rd parties just how successful they can be. precisely, let's look at the good news in all of this this must be a fresh WFC network! there may not be 3rd party online game, but the reasons you've all come up with have got me super-hyped about the Wii's online service. (on another note, nice to see this thread is seeing this as a good thing, reasoning about it, instead of instantly flaming nintendo and dooming the Wii lol. not that certain other threads are coughcough!)
-
what a fine poet you are! starwaster has said the same thing to me on manies a wifi night at his place. don't think they'll do THAT necessarily, but just like apple they probably don't see anything wrong with telling us not too long before release. gotta be some reason why its secret i like what nintendo have been doing. they've hit all the right spots bit by bit, building the hype... now we're about to get this 14th september event, and it looks like the WORLD's media is gonna be there :D:D
-
have to say after 1 and 2 i'm really looking forward to spidey 3. anyhoo, bumblebee isn't? then what is he?! and that megatron render... not only all those points we've brought up, but he has NO personality!! that's shit! AND it looks like the transformations (if his body is anything to go by) are gonna be long drawn out and over complex, with lots of little fiddly and pointless bits! it should take a second or two, it should be simple, and we should SEE what he turns into from robot mode! starting to think michael bay is gonna do his usual... turn out shit!
-
everyone moaned coz at the start of the DS' life it was "new gameplay with n64 graphics won't cut it" or stuff to that effect. those people were proved wrong from the word "go!" so shall it be again! and now the DS is handling even better graphics, but my point is about before that...
-
they HAVE to change into earth-based vehicles like they did in the cartoon (when their computer that fixed them thought earth vehicles were a species!) otherwise they're not exactly "robots in disguise". that's what i hated about the later cartoons and toys they resembled crap all when they transformed!

The Super Mario Bros Movie (settle an argument)
knightendo replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Chit Chat
it's very good. and i think that, as i have said before, the mushroom kingdom IS there, just that koopa's reign has turned it into this dark gritty world, but after the film you get the feeling that it's gonna turn back to what it was in the games... shame there was no sequel. -
well, after all the crap "analysts" have been spewing out recently, i'll wait and see. yeh this could be good for nintendo, although i doubt even if it were coming out in the original numbers that they would dent the popularity of each other that much. only thing is, as much as i "laugh in the face" of sony right now, they'll just spin this to make it look like their system is in such high demand that they can't keep stocks up, hoping more people will want one as a result. they should be politicians.
