  1. I'm just going to copy this from the Wii U thread... Once you have your hard drive sorted, you'll never look back. : peace: I know it's an extra expense but once you have it, you'll likely be looking for ways to try and fill it up, who knows we might yet get Gamecube VC games. If there's any game to get a hard drive for, it's got to be this one I'd have thought, you've done very well to get by without needing one until now.
  2. Undertale! I've been meaning to play this, I hear it mentioned then I think to myself "Hmm I really must play that" and then I keep forgetting, I'm going to buy it now while I remember. I won't get around to playing it right away, as I have loads of other games to play as well but at least then it will be in my Steam Library - along with around fifty-odd other games I haven't played yet but will do one day! - and £6.99 does seem rather resonable. Annnnd bought! One step closer to playing it now. : peace: I've finished maybe a handful of games this year, I don't tend to post about them, especially if they are for VC Weekly or a review, I should populate a list of those games I've actually completed. For now though, the last game I completed was Electronic Super Joy, there's no embargo on it seeing as it's already out but in any case I found it to be a most enjoyable platforming game, the review for it should be up on site tomorrow so look out for it.
  3. That's awful Dcubed. I mean, we kind of knew it was coming what with the news regarding the game getting worse with each small bit of information coming to light, then the lack of content becoming all the more apparent but for anyone just buying the game and thinking "Oh boy! A new Mario Tennis game!" and then the realisation as the title is loaded up for the first time... "...the heck is this?" it must be a crushing experience. :/ At the very least I suppose the N64 VC version is there for damage limitation but it really shouldn't be the way, personally I would have preferred it to have been delayed until next year and to have just had more digital titles to fill the gap, it's like they've just sent the game out to die by releasing it unfinished and in November which is one of the busiest months for gaming. For what it's worth he could probably easily get his money back by selling the game on now but really... that would just be passing on the disc of disappointment to someone else, I don't know what else to suggest though. It's just a huge shame that the game release turned out this way.
  4. Never played, always wanted to, can't wait! : peace:
  5. I went for Pokémon X as well while my brother bought Pokémon Y but at least they are still the same games - mostly - whichever version you buy, I think it's good to go for different versions if you live in the same household as it's fun to play along and compare progress in addition to the trading/battling as well; though this time with the VC re-releases of R/B/Y trading with my younger brother might be a bit difficult as he has recently moved out but... I suppose it just means that we can both catch the version exclusive Pokémon still and just trade when he comes back home to visit. Yes, I do indeed remember you from the stream, it was a lot of fun for me too watching you all play through all those Kirby games! Of course I did try to play along while Kirby 64 was being played but I had no chance in keeping up as it my first proper play of the game but it was still a lot of fun and it was nice that you all managed to raise a bit for charity as well. I still can't believe its been four months since Satoru Iwata's untimely passing though. I do think he'd have been glad to see the original Pokémon games released on the VC though, here's hoping we get Gold, Silver and Crystal as well to honour his programming skills. : peace: Well I'm glad that you got your account sorted - with Dcubed's help - as I'm sure you'll find N-Europe forums to be an excellent place, I'd love to play MH4U again at some point with you all, I remember our games to be really fun and I've been meaning to get back into it now that all the DLC is out, a link to the thread for the game is below... http://www.n-europe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56961&page=19 It would be fun for the four of us to go hunting again one day, so give a shout in the thread when you're all together and want to hunt, I'm mostly off work for a few days so can join most evenings if I'm not already playing another game... (with so many games to play these days I don't know where I'll find the time to play through the original Pokémon games again, but I'm sure I will somehow) You're most welcome, there's no need to be worried as I'm sure you'll find the forum to be a welcoming place. We all have our disagreements now and then in some of the threads but then what forum doesn't? Plus things have been a lot better recently. (We also have a creative board with lots of threads if you ever feel like sharing any drawings) Anyway I think that's everything... I'm glad Dcubed convinced you to post and I hope that you'll enjoy your time here.
  6. One play for reaching ten dummy badges again, used it to try and nab me a Luigi badge, didn't even make it halfway... Oh well! Roll on 2am! : peace: 2am, Try again! 2am, Try again! 2am, Try again! *sigh* this piece of software is going to drive me mad eventually I can just see it...
  7. Family eh? What are they for except to help you catch all the Pokémon? It was always the same for me and my youngest brother, I'd have Blue so he'd have Red, I bought Gold on import and he went for Silver... we still do the same thing to this day although neither of us get to play the games as much as we'd like but we still buy them. Oh and hey there Hazel, welcome to the N-Europe forums! I remember you from 24 hours of Kirby - all three of you were fantastic - and as UFA from Monster Hunter, which reminds me I really need to get back into playing that soon. In any case I hope you enjoy your stay here as I'm sure you'll fit in well on N-Europe. : peace:
  8. I've got as far as buying them as I purchased them straight after the Direct seeing as we get a reasonable deal on them - £13.48 for both games until 19/11/15 as you get one of them for half price after purchashing the other one - but alas I have not tried them yet so all I can say so far is that if you've alreeady bought a DS game on the Wii U VC then you can expect them to look as good as whichever game you've tried most likely. They'll both be reviewed in VC Weekly 362 so... that'll probably be in two weeks time - possibly earlier - but in the meantime I'll try and fire them up soon if I get the chance. : peace: Are you considering getting them both for the offer or are you more interested in one of the games more than the other?
  9. As aforementioned, I have the game but it's still sealed because I was a heathen and I didn't finish the first game... ...on the PS4. Since then the first Tomb Raider has been on Games with Gold for Xbox One, I'm off work at the moment so I'm trying to catch up with all those games that have been piling up. I'm making really good progress though : peace: I started playing Tomb Raider soon after the next game arrived, I've been playing each night and with every session I've found myself playing a bit longer each time, first it was an hour or so, then two hours plus... last night I started playing at 10PM and I don't think I stopped until gone 2AM because I've found the gameplay to be so... so.. Hnnnnnnnnnnngggggghhh!!! The way it's all integrated, the exploration, discovering optional tombs on the side while scoping out your environments, using your survival instincts to check for anything you might have missed, the seamless way in which you just light a torch so that you can either light your way or set fire to something in order to progress... it's the simple things. Of course you also have the upgrade system, which relies heavily on the things you can salvage from the world around you, all of the exp adding up, hidden parts needed for your next weapon, upgrades to your own skill set as a suvivor; it all helps to give you the edge particularly in combat which I feel is handled really well, plus you've got all of the enviromental puzzles which are rather clever in their own way. I like those cinematic moments which are nicely spaced out but add to the tense atmosphere within the game, the quick-time events which require a bit of precision yet they aren't stupidly difficult. Oh and the story is pretty decent too, I'm liking Lara's character development as I've been enjoying the games so much more since Crystal Dynamics took over almost ten years ago - incidentally the PC & PS4 releases should coincide nicely with their ten year anniversary of them taking the helm of making Tomb Raider games - :awesome: but this title is something else as they've made her character so much more relatable, whereas if I tried to play any of the really early Tomb Raider games now - from the first PS1 title to the last Core developed PS2 title - I just couldn't. Rebooting the franchise is definitely the best thing to happen with Tomb Raider and personally I now can't wait to finish the first title knowing that I have the sequel ready and waiting to be played. : peace: I'll keep you updated but hopefully this thread will become more active from now on, even if it's just me going on about how much I'm enjoying playing Tomb Raider Definitive Edition before moving onto Rise of the Tomb Raider.
  10. This is a cost-cutting measure by Nintendo, little do we know that this is our main Animal Crossing game for the Wii U as we'll have this, Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival and that'll be our lot! I can't see myself spending much time with this title again, it was good on the DS but we've had the 3DS games for ages and I barely play that anymore as it is.
  11. N-Europe Presents VC Weekly #359 Konami Krazy Racers Enjoy! : peace:
  12. In that case, there's definitely room for a compromise in lowering the price earlier, I agree with that. Things have improved though recently, A Link Between Worlds is in the new Nintendo Selects range, so that's two years after release. Perhaps a price drop of £10 after six months, then dropping the price to half RRP or less with the Nintendo Selects release but make it a year after instead of two, that would be more sensible. I'm hoping we will see better pricing strategies with the NX though for games. Back to Twilight Princess HD, how many will be purchasing it on release providing it's £30 - £40 and who will be waiting or not purchasing it at all?
  13. That happened to me yesterday - or was that the day before? Damn 2am reset - as I cleared a whole practice machine yet got nothing... today I cleared another one bar one badge and got two turns plus one for having more than 1o dummy badges; I went for both Super Mario Bros. Underground machines and managed to get a whole set bar ONE SHELL with Luigi's and managed to snag just over half with Mario's. I'm hoping to mop up those sets tonight - well tomorrow morning - if I manage to score some more goes as they both vanish in 2 days time, though the software does mention that sets which are taken out might repeat over time, but still... it gets it into your mind that you "need" those badges first to complete the set, slightly evil. I'd love to see some StarFox badges!
  14. A lot of their software still remains good value though, not all of it... personally there are a few games coming out soon that I won't even be touching because they don't appeal to me, but Zelda? Always worth the price, to me at least. : peace: Also by that logic, I've paid full price for Uncharted Collection, Fallout 4 etc... does that mean the price of those titles isn't going to be coming down either assuming that they sold well? Uncharted is perhaps not the best example but Fallout 4 will surely be kept at a high price. I'm not saying that the prices of games shouldn't go down, just that personally I would value certain software enough to purchase it when the game comes out. Quite a few other titles I will quite hapilly just play "the waiting game" and pick them up for bargain prices or even "free" with Plus/Games with Gold, if Nintendo ended up with a similar scheme I'd take advantage of it in the same way, but they don't so I just pick the titles I really want and then skip or wait on the rest to go down in price.
  15. I watched that video earlier as it has just reconfirmed in my mind that the game will look so much better by the time it has been hopefully polished to the Nth degree by the time it launches. Apparently the footage looks even better when viewed on the Wii U console from the videos on the eShop too, I shall be checking that out in a bit.
  16. It's still going to be reasonably good value even at £30+ as currently the only way to play the game with a traditional controller is to buy the Gamecube version which seems to go for around £50+ still due to its rarity. Perhaps not the best way to look at it but Nintendo software certainly does tend to hold its value for longer whereas games on other systems often plummet after mere months. All I know is I'll gladly pay around £40 with the amiibo figure for Twilight Princess HD as it's still very much worth it.
  17. Glad I'm only collecting Smash and any one-off/small sets that I'm interested in. (Small sets being the Splatoon amiibo figures being as that's only three) Wolf Link shall be mine though at all costs!
  18. This still stands... But I'll also put myself down as a... If not though, I hope you all have fun! : peace:
  19. The most important part to note though is that nobody has to spend money on plays yo get the badges. I haven't paid a penny yet and don't intend to unless I see a theme that I genuinely want. Even I'll admit that there is an addicitve nature to it but if I ended up spending say £20 in order to get all of the badges available so far I just know that I'd regret it and would be thinking about how many REAL Nintendo badges that could have bought me. But if anyone wants to spend money on these then that's up to them, they are pretty cool. : peace: I'm wondering if I'll change my tune when a Metroid set becomes available...
  20. I like the new dashboard, it seems quicker now at least though I would like the ability to customise things a bit more but it's perfectly usable. What I was more impressed with was the fact that all of the backwards compatible available games were just there, waiting to be installed, so I went with Zuma to test and not only did it work, was quicker but it seemed to have my original save present as well... how does that work? I was under the assumption that I would need to physically add all my saves to the cloud if I wanted to do that, so is it the case that Microsoft has moved all the available files on my behalf or that some games just go off the ahievements that you already have or something else as I'm genuinely curious about this; does anyone know?
  21. I've had my copy for a day or two, sadly though I can't play it as I haven't finished the previous title. Although because I've taken so long about it, I may have started the game on PS4 but I barely got anywhere, since then I've had the game for free thanks to Games with Gold so I just last night started playing the first game and I'm currently enjoying it a lot. I may as well just sell my PS4 copy - which I don't think I paid too much for anyway - and make some money back from it, Tomb Raider on Xbox for me from now on even if it means I'll be giving up potential extra content when the game eventually launches on PS4, that's a year away so I might as well take advantage of what is for now a platform exclusive. Tomb Raider may have been more closely associated with the Playstation brand at the start but ever since Crystal Dynamics have been developing the series, I've juust seen it as another multformat franchise which I have now taken to be more closely linked with the Xbox brand. Not that it matters ultimately, so long as the games are good and everyone gets to play them eventually then there's no harm done, on a personal level I'm just happy to be back into playing games again on a more regular basis thanks to a bit of time off I have. : peace:
  22. Awful news. I feel bad for anyone caught up in it.
  23. That's just exactly it though, it isn't F-Zero or Wipeout or any other futuristic racer you care to mention. While passing comparisons will be made, FAST is its own thing and it's glorious. This sequel looks to significantly improve upon the original which was already amazing considering what Shin'en were up against with the paltry limitations of the Wii shop channel. Now we get to see what their true vision for the series is and I for one cannot wait. : peace:
  24. So long as I can unlock and play a few puzzles per day/week for free then I'm happy. : peace:
