  1. Yep, it varies wildly. Check out this stream from just under a month ago, when @Josh64 and I decided to play some Wave Race 64 and Pokémon Puzzle League... Wave Race 64 on the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack (+ Pokémon Puzzle League) - Multiplayer (14/07/2023) Yeah... I had fun putting together the thumbnail for that one. And in fairness, the connection may have improved since then, as one of us was on Ethernet, and the other on Wi-Fi which is always variable. Apparently if you have your profile set to 'appear offline' on the Switch, that can have an effect on it? Josh and I will probably play some other NSO games, or other Switch games soon to see how the connection holds up. Though, it does seem to be even more variable with four players... and I'm sure there have been times when we've had four players, all on ehternet, but when two or three of those players are on the same internet connection, that's another variable in itself. I will say though... @RedShell about the ethernet situation, have you considered using an ethernet hub? You can get them with 4 ports to 8 ports or more if required, and that might solve the issue of plugging and uplugging ethernet cables, I've been using a four or five port hub for a while, and am about to upgrade to an 8-port hub, as with the amount of wired consoles that are online and still functional, it's definitely required. (DC, GC, Xbox OG, Xbox One, Switch, PS5... (soon) plus a PC etc) From the ethernet hub, that then goes to a wired home plug, which takes the signal through the electric wires, to another home plug next to the router, eliminating the need for unfeasibly long ethernet cables, though from time to time, they can need a reset or power cycle. Those are my wired ethernet experiences for what they are worth.

  3. Thanks for the games. Enjoy watching all the mini-games... not quite as you might remember them in the first half of the video... ...and then almost exactly as you remember them in the second half, complete with all the tactics and CPU player randomness. Plus the quiz of "Just press anything!" or "Damn, I knew that one!" but not being quick enough, and sometimes "Wait... what?!?" 8. Thanks for the games. Some X2 matches tonight, Terry and a few others. Thanks for the follow @Glen-i on Twitch, you're the 64th subscriber to my channel, which I thought was cool. Also, all the chat comments survived the highlighting process, so most of the best moments have been time-stamped, and there were some great moments indeed. 9. We were just talking about this on Discord as we were playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. If there was to just be an enhanced ultimate port, it would be cool to see at least some new alternate stages, or some altered stages, maybe a stage featuring the Super Mario Bros. Wonder aesthetic, as it would be good to see some of the more recent Nintendo games, or soon to be released, but before the next Smash game titles. As far as the roster of characters goes though? It's almost perfect... we're just missing Rick the hamster. But when it comes to Smash-a-likes... there aren't really any which seem to stack up. I've heard Rivals of Aether mentioned before, but even then... it's not Smash. The most fun I've had not playing a mainline Smash Bros. game, is playing Smash Remix, as it almost feels official, and it has characters like Marina from Mischief Makers, Goemon from Mystical Ninja, and Conker from Conker's Bad Fur Day, complete with chainsaw and flamethrower... I doubt we'll see that in an official Smash game, cool as it is.
  10. Prison City is coming to the Switch Overview and trailer. - - - - - Tiny Thor launch trailer Overview and launch trailer. - - - - - Great to see some more retro-inspired platformers from the 8-Bit and 16-Bit eras coming to the Switch. Esoecially as Prison City seems to be inspired by many classic NES titles.

  13. I've played this now on the Switch. If you want to see what an (almost) full playthrough looks like... Check out the stream... Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons on the Nintendo Switch. (04/08/2023) Skip to the last hour if you want to see the last (almost) complete playthrough, as this game does take an hour or two to get into. I like how the game is setup, you choose from one of the four different missions, which are placed in different locations, taken over by various gangs. Each area is then divided into three stages or so, which are all basically part of the same area, and at the end of each stage, you get to choose how to upgrade your character. I'm not too sure how the token system works, but if you set the continues to 'unlimited' at the start, it's not actually unlimited, but it's tied to how much cash you have in game, but at least it gives you enough for a couple of continues. Of course, you could have more continues, if the opt not to buy any upgrades at the end of each stage, but you'll want the upgrades, as it makes the game more fun to play. Anyway, just from the first playthrough, I can see that this is a great game, well worth playing, and it'll likely take a few tries to beat, unless you get lucky with the enemy placements, repeated combos gaining you healing items, which you'll need to maintain your single life for each character, per continue. I'll be playing some more of this for certain.
  14. Thanks for the games. *Insert meme here* "Noooo! you can't drive a realistic car in Mario Kart!" "Hurr Hurr, Mercedes car go brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!" Here's a link to this week's stream... - - - - - N-Europe Get Together! (03/08/2023)
  15. Thanks for the games. Only two X2 matches, I believe? But those matches were Snake and Palutena, so that was cool. Great to have four players for at least half of the stream, it was nice to play Smash with you again @RedShell even for an hour. The good matches continued just with the three of us though, @Ike showing us how it's done with various Fire Emblem characters and Hero, of course. We all had some decent wins, and some stylish stage exits... intentional or otherwise. @Glen-i and @Dcubed you'll probably want to check out the highlights of the stream if you get a chance, as there were some great moments. Also... I may have 'forgotten' to take out Palutena's Temple on Stock ruleset, and it came up in the selection towards the end... at least it shows why we don't play it online, but it was still fun, and I regret nothing! All of the other match options seemed to be correct. Here's a link to this week's stream... - - - - - N-Europe Saturday Smash! (29/07/2023) - - - - -
  16. Yep, I have the setups ready, I remember we made sure all the details were correct the last time I hosted. Sure, I'll host... so Stock tonight at 8pm then.

No trailer, but there is an overview of all the included games. - - - - - @Grazza it looks like Double Dragon is officially back! (not that it ever really went away) Great to see the classic games and some lesser-known titles being brought back for a new generation to experience, and for long-term fans to play all over again.
  18. Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons launch trailer Now up on the main page. Overview and launch trailer. - - - - - Did anyone else pick this up on the eShop? (or physically?) I bought it on two platforms, I'll probably be playing the Switch version first though.

DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing Announced for Nintendo Switch Skull Island: Rise of Kong Coming Fall 2023 Sonic Superstars all Emerald Powers revealed The Legend of Zelda Oracle Duology Available Now Via Nintendo Switch Online A relatively quiet week, saved by Sonic Superstars news, and a couple of classic Zelda games, this current week seems to be shaping up well for news though.
  21. Thanks for the games. A good turnout overall as we had Eight players at one point, which is good considering we were at least two players down. Here's a link to this week's stream... - - - - - N-Europe Get Together! (27/07/2023)
  22. The Legend of Zelda Oracle Duology Available Now Via Nintendo Switch Online Now up on the main page. Thanks to @Josh64 for the well-written and researched write-up and for posting the news so quickly. - - - - - I'm glad to see both of these titles finally available on NSO, I can still remember buying both games and the dual game guide from EB/Game all those years ago. They are great games, and excellent entries in the series, definitely different from LInk's Awakening, but well worth playing.

  24. Nintendo eShop new releases (week 29) The twenty-ninth week of releases. A selection of new titles are now available on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Check the article for the full roundup. - - - - - Thanks to @Josh64 for the recently posted articles, which include... Umbraclaw a brand new side-scrolling adventure from Inti Creates announced for Switch Stardew Valley 1.6 Update Teased Pikmin 4 Developer Interview Reveals Early Concept Art, N64 Version and More Pikmin 4 Developer Interview Part 2 Pikmin 4 Developer Interview Part 3 It was set to be a very quiet week for news, then those excellent Pikmin 4 Developer Interviews came out, and Josh put together some really decent articles from them which are very much worth reading, as he has been a long time fan of the series, so his enthusiasm for the series shines through in these pieces, in addition to highlighting the more interesting parts of each interview.
  25. Thanks for the games. There were a decent amount of X2 matches, but with the randomness of the custom stages, character selection didn't matter much... until it did. It was fun to play some custom stages, especially the ones with a theme and one main gimmick, but I can also understand why some of the custom stages could be summed up as... "OK, that's cool for what it is, but it's not really Smash as such" even though, Smash multiplayer is about the laughs and the unpredictability of it all... when you're not really fighting, so much as just trying to knock each other into an obvious and almost unavoidable hazard repeatedly, it's a different kind of game. But... I still maintain that seeing Ridley climb up a tall ladder and slide down it, is one of the most oddly enjoyable things in the game. I do enjoy some of the more 'standard' custom stages though, and it's great to have @RedShell back playing Smash again, and assuming that there will be more custom stages in the future, especially to go alongside certain games coming out, I'd love to see any new stages that you come up with, at least once or twice, as the amount of detail which goes into them is astounding. Playing on the base stages is still fundamental to a decent Smash session though, so maybe there could be a chance for any new stages which anyone has created to be showcased at the start for a few matches... say ten minutes or so, unless it's a theme night which might require custom stages of course, then the rest of the session can be base stages. We seem to have a good thing going with N-E Saturday Smash sessions, so it'd be cool if we can carry on and find a way so that we can all still play and enjoy the game without unintentionally alienating anyone, as though I did enjoy the range of custom stages as a one-off, I can understand why @Ike didn't find the custom stages enjoyable. I reckon there is potential to include some custom stages though, so long as they aren't too gimmicky, heck... maybe we should all make a stage one week, if we can find the time... but generally, I'm happy to mostly play standard stages, while appreciating the artistic merit and creativiity of custom stages once in a while. With all of that said, I am glad that I was able to share all of the custom stages in the stream. Here's a link to this week's stream... - - - - - N-Europe Saturday Smash! (22/07/2023) - - - - -
