It was a mistake, that's pretty much undeniable, the investment required to make PS3/360 games and the fact that they need to sell millions so make any profit isn't being very good for a lot of devs, even with the backing of big publishers. And what you say about outputting few games each year is made even worse on 360/PS3 and since dev times are bigger than before, the time developers operate without any income is even bigger, so with banks offering less and less loans, even with publisher backing it's still very hard. That's not to say its certain developing for PS3 was the only cause or even the main cause the same could have happened developing for 360, Wii, DS, etc... Don't know if Sony helped with the development though, never heard about it. They published it and tried to nudge the reviewers by sending a "Lair's Reviewers Guide" to critics though. Which is hilarious. Also don't see how Wii would be their downfall. Still, pinning the blame on just one thing is wrong, specially without numbers and hard data. What I can't for the life of me figure is how most companies made such ridiculously bad managment, anyone with half a brain figured out that the increase in development costs and time couldn't be taken lightly or stuff like this would happen.

Short answer: yes. Longer answer: not everyone cares that much about online and things have been getting better, same about graphics, patch system is something that's used as an excuse to be able to launch defective games, dlc also possible on Wii, mostly another excuse to be able to launch incomplete games and suck out out money, etc etc ... :P And even if it weren't like that... to me, controls are very very important, specially when compared to those things which hold little importance. You have to realise the things you're saying are highly subjective and now that developers are paying more attention to Wii, specially FPS wise the differences are becoming smaller and smaller. Also, Metroid had no control problems. You're doing it wrong.

I have to say none of the FF XIII does it for me so far. It looks... generic. Not excited in the least so far.

I think they'll start fresh with a new, smaller budgeted IP or someone will sugar daddy them. Goldeneye, Perfect Dark ->Timesplitters They'll probably do the same. I wouldn't be surprised if WiiWare/XBLA/PSN would be their main bet, buying an IP doesn't make a lot of sense for a new company, specially with the economy as it is. It's possible that TS4 wasn't turning out good for sure after seeing Haze, but publishers look at the money it could make and since their last 3 games have been bombing and the games that sell on HD consoles are very well known brands with millions behind advertising I can see how no one would pick it up even if the game was turning out good.

Mine's a Master Grade, so 1/100, Perfect grade is 1/60. Size isn't everything though, so make sure to read about them, although most of the times, only ronery otaku guys can notice a difference in quality or just bitch for bitching sake.

Pretty much spot on. There must be lots of companies barely managing to stay alive because of their not very wise huge "investments" in lots of HD games, where they just went all out and spent loads of money.

About the training: First, training varies according to the era, in the prequels there wasn't an overflow of Jedi but there were some so they would only start training them if they were young, now when Yoda trains Luke he specifically says he's too old to start the training, but since Luke's their only hope, there's no choice. And like you say, the training wasn't complete and he was pretty weaksauce, but since Vader was conflicted and pretty much all fucked up it wasn't a big deal. After ep VI, since they need as many Jedi as possible, many things changed, Jedi were trained after being adults, they could marry, etc... Neither of those invalidate them being "super human" in the prequels. It's like saying that "grandpa A is 60 yrs and healthy, grandpa B is 90 and has er.. hair cancer, if grandpa A can jump in a pogo stick, so can B". Obi Wan is human, while Yoda's race obviously lives very long, he can um... do swass, because he was one of the most Force sensitive Jedi there was. Basically he was on steroids compared to other Jedi. Vader is basically a burnt torso with machine implants that were destroyed over and over, grievous has Jedi blood, very high tech implants and was trained by Dooku. Not to mention that they did that kind of stuff too and even more gargantuan stuff a lot before the prequels in the Expanded Universe. Of course that it was pretty much because it was technically impossible and it takes a lot suspension of disbelief to make sense of some things, but they're explained. Good thing about any magical background is that you can always say "a wizard did it!". In this case, during the original trilogy, since most Jedi are dead and the Dark Side runs amok, the Force is pretty much absent or murky, thus, not as effective. It's farfetched, but hey, a wizard did it!
