Mine is Link It's artwork from The Minish Cap with a few personal tweaks. Have it for years now but I love it still. My sig, on the other hand...

You're all missing my point It's not about getting gamers - there are enough. There are just many people that think the Wii is just a family thing, not worth spending time on. This is true for some gamers, but especially for many developers who don't put in effort to give us quality games. Finally, besides the point, a Wii GE would have to sell at a higher price because of all the components. It also makes it a more luxurious, more serious (and that's important) presentation of the Wii GE. But that's just marketing.

Ah yes, but the gamers are not the problem (hell, there are 15+ million of them, with a significant percentage being 'core'). The vibe from developers is that they need to be developing 'family' games for the Wii, or at least don't put in any effort because Wii owners are too thick to notice anyway. A Wii Gamer's Edition would remarket the Wii partially, and show that Nintendo's intentions are also towards gamers, because this seems not to be the case at the moment. Because of Nintendo's presentation, I can fully understand why a lot of developers are being so thick and lazy at the moment, despite Nintendo being the freaking market leader. Add to that it would just be very awesome to have a Wii with HD and more memory ^_^. It's just cool stuff for the gamer, but an important new image for developers. It would be a big step in realising all the games that people wish, because Nintendo can't and shouldn't possibly take care of all that alone.

Today I was having a moment of random thought, and I came up with what the Wii really needs. It's very important that this happens. So important in fact, that for the first time in my entire life, I gave a post an actual title. This is not some game or software, it's a new image for the Wii. Nintendo has always been slated for being kiddy, a false claim that was the continuation of the old SNES <> Mega Drive wars back in the early nineties. The Wii doesn't have this problem any more, as it's the 'family console'. The kiddy problem has not disappeared, however, as developers consider families (or, as they like to call it, the 'broader demographic') as much a bunch of retards as kids (the beloved 'younger demographic'). Even with the Wii, or perhaps even moreso, Nintendo's console is considered a retard's console with, as a result, a lot of stupid games. The problem now isn't to blame on some old console war, but on Nintendo itself, as they presented themselves as the family man. It can't be blamed that they did so, as the Wii (and DS) are raking in money for them. Still, the real gamers seem to suffer to a certain extent. How can this be changed? Nintendo needs to get out there, say to the consumers and the developers "we are here for the gamers", and I don't mean in just some off quote in Reggie's E3 presentation or another interview with Perrin Kaplan, but in actual actions. The Wii is too much of a family console for developers to understand that there really are gamers cringing for some 'hardcore action', that the Wii is a serious market for gamers. For this, you'd expect a new console, but there's enough in the Wii for more years. Besides, Nintendo can't just drop their money printing machine for the gamers, that would be foolish. What the Wii is in desperate need of is a Wii Gamer's Edition, or Wii Elite or Wii Extreme, or whatever. A redesigned Wii just for the 'hardcore' Nintendo fan so many of us are. Make the Wii more of a piece of gamer's gear than the family friendly Wii console now. Paint it black, pack it in with Metroid Prime 3 rather than Wii Sports, and give that Wii menu a customisable slick look. Give it an upscale chip and an HDMI out, for many gamers today own an HDTV. Add an Ethernet port on the console itself for a reliable connection, and give it a reasonable 2 GB of Flash memory so demos and Wii Ware titles actually have the space. Needless to say, all Wii games will retain compability, and all games will work on both versions of the console, but this will give the Wii a new image it so desperately needs, that the Wii is not just for retards, and the Wii is something to invest time and money in to create awesome third-party titles. Sell it at a higher price than the Wii - it's for the fan, the money spending gamer. Or, better yet, just introduce it at $249 and lower the Wii Family's price after the shortages are over. Just release some piece of hardware to give the developers an idea that there are owners of the console that do appreciate effort. A concept like this would satisfy a lot of gamers and developers, and should really be a boost in the Wii's support. There's too little effort in many titles for the Wii, and I hope this could fix part of that.

You could extend each of the five connectors with an RCA cable if it's too short

Nah, Advanced is the definition of first person games. May take some getting used to, but you'll blast away after an hour or two. Normal was included for 'the new gamer', but I don't know why they included it, as it isn't any easier, it's just slower. Also, if you want MP1 and MP2 grade difficulty, don't start on Regular difficulty but on Veteran.

I really doubt Monster Hunter is a game that will benefit from HD (well maybe that), or better graphics and physics. The Wii's Wiimote will really fire up the gameplay experience. Also, I doubt the PS3 version ever really existed, because if they had anything substantial they would've made a Monster Hunter side story on Wii (or PS3), and then continue with the material they had. The Wii version just has other appeals. The online mode will probably work fine, too - hopefully Brawl will show how it's supposed to be done.

That comparison isn't right, because the Wii is more than just an upgraded GameCube.

That's an interesting strategy. I just went in, wiped out his balls, and then wiped out his holes (gay porn game ftw ). Taking them out one at the time should work better. Will try it, thanks!

Head Tracking for Desktop VR Displays using the WiiRemote

That's not what I'm saying. The peripheral should most very definetely be used in other games, I could not possibly agree more. The problem is that wouldn't be used [as much as it should]. The Eye Toy had potential to enrich far more than it did in the end, as it was 'just a peripheral' and received virtually no third party support. This is because of the reasons I mentioned before. A device like this would probably more succesful than the Eye Toy. but it wouldn't compare to its integration in a new console. -

The problem is that, except for a few cases of cross compability, this has never occurred in the gaming industry. -
If you read carefully you see that they didn't attack your opinion per se, but your behaviour. Your behaviour tied with your opinion, but you don't have to give up your opinion to be more careful than you are being now, on this subject. Oh, come on! Get off your high horse, you don't have a right to be on this forum, it is a privilege (that is in the rules). You're really breaking the atmosphere on the boards with the stuff you (maybe unwillingly) provoke. Don't be an arse and take a step back if it's necessary. Personally I value people like you and Caris as it adds some fire to the discussions, but at least bear in mind that not everybody takes it well.

The thing is, that IR headset has to exist beyond the game it becomes packed with. It's a gameplay defining feature with possibilities beyond our imagination [/cheesy]. The peripherals you're mentioning weren't all that, did well with the games they came with, but weren't used outside of those games. That can't happen to a peripheral like this potentially could be. -
Yeah, I mean Mogenar (Molgera is an enemy from Zelda ). I don't think it's the (Advanced) controls in particular that are bugging me... Thing is, you'd he's really not that hard as his attacks are easily avoided and he gives you free energy all the time. However, taking out his back ball (and back hole) is a real pain in the arse, and later on he becomes just too quick for you - there's no way to keep sustained fire on any of his holes. And when he goes on rampage, he seems unstoppable, as apparently, you have to plant an infinite amount of bombs at his feet to let him go easy. It's especially frustrating because the fight takes so long, and you're working to get him down and then you fail when you feel you have him. I'll be so happy though when I finally beat that bastard

I really don't like the way you're provoking reactions and then to go "fanboy! fanboy!" like you're doing now. I respect your opinion, but you knew that a post like that is going to have people started - posting a post like that anyway is flaming. I'm not defending the people who attacked you here, but if you're going to start on that topic, be more subtle and elaborate about it. It's not the first time you've done this, either, you're getting on people's nerves (and I hope you're not enjoying that).

FFS do I suck in this game or what? I can't beat Molgera. Had three attempts at him and I just can't do it. Last time I thought I had him nailed with only two of his body openings to spare, but just as I destroy another one he goes rampaging through the room like a bull with its balls on fire, cleaning out four of my energy tanks and killing me. Damn, I was so pissed when that happened. Veteran mode seems much harder to me than MP1 and MP2 were, they were really quite doable.

HD-DVD's triple layer of 51 GB is an industry standard, which provides more space than Bluray's double layer industry standard. Either way, it provides beyond plenty of room for films. The audio comment is nonsense, as all HD-DVDs require Dolby TrueHD sound, which is (along with DTS HD Master Audio) the best sound quality you can get from a surround system. This is only optional on Blurays. The bitrates of lossy formats don't matter in that case, this is lossless sound for an unlimited amount of speakers. As for the film studios, yeah, maybe, but that's really not part of the medium definition. I prefer HD-DVD as the new standard medium, and if it becomes that, then all studios will come to HD-DVD.

That's what I mean. Germany, the Netherlands & Belgium, France and a few other countries have their own subsidiary though, so the rest of Europe does get stuff like Stars and such, at least partly. I thought you meant the stars were only for the Brits.

I know, but you should've estimated 30%, that's what I pointed out. It's obvious it won't sell 50%. Also, you can't compare the console market and the console peripheral market. -
I prefer HD-DVD for the cheaper costs and the non-Sonyness. It's a more natural continuation of the DVD standard. Except for the PlayStation 3 there is not much Bluray has to offer.

No, that's only Portugal *maniacal laughter*

Seconded, just viewed the HD trailer and I don't understand how they could possibly justify that much production value for so little audience. It is a promising game though, Vesperia.

Pedro, it's a cel-shaded anime game, why would you want animated mouths? I quite like it, though their syncing needs to improve. Half-assed would be a ToS rehash. This is obviously betteer.

I don't think that's the problem to be honest. Nintendo could just release a Wiimote stand and a pair of them goggles the guy used in the video. It's apparently accurate enough and shouldn't cost much. Freebie controller game Wii Play has trouble enough selling around 60% and it has been out since launch. 50% would mean that the game and peripheral has to sell 8.5 million units if it were to be released on New Year's Day. I'd be very surprised if Mario Galaxy or Wii Fit would make it to such a staggering amount. I'd say 30% is a very optimistic estimate, and that probably wouldn't be enough for the development of killer-apps for the device, bar the pack-in game it comes with. It is difficult, look at the current support for Wii - most developers thought it would flop. Point is, a peripheral just narrows the target audience for a console, it's simply not very attractive to develop for.
