There's still time for Theo to get his act together, though. When he's on form, much like Aaron Lennon, he can tear people apart. But yeah, he hasn't looked his best this season, I've noticed that, too. I'm also in the Heskey-defence camp. He's got a great way of holding up the ball and bringing others into play. Which means that this helps players like Lampard and Gerrard to get their goals. Defoe and Owen are more direct approaches, get the ball to them and then they'll finish off their chances themselves. I haven't made my mind up on Carlton Cole yet.

That seems like a fair assessment, I think. He started off looking a bit un-sharp infront of goal, but he's looking a bit more potent now, imo. Not just yesterday's game, but his last few games. In fairness to him, he has had quite a few different strike partners playing alongside him, and yesterday he was pretty much the lone striker with Wellbeck and Nani playing on the wings to feed him. So, in terms of being versatile with who he's playing with, I think he's looking better each game in that respect. His finishing is what he needs to improve on, definitely. I think he needs to knuckle down now and put in some more good performances. At the moment, I think he's definitely in contention, but he's not fully justified his place yet. Also, with England, isn't there the option to play Theo Walcott up front, too? He can also play on the wing, so he's versatile. That's something that Owen doesn't quite have. He really doesn't have any extra dimensions to his game. But, think about someone like Owen Hargreaves, who can play in central midfield, right wing, and right back. It's a shame he isn't fit, because he would definitely be in the squad. Edit: Forgot to mention, what is the situation with Carlton Cole? Because he was a strong contender for that fourth spot, along with Peter Crouch.

I heard that, too. Yeah, it does make sense. For me, Rooney and Defoe are definitely going. Heskey will probably get a place as Capello likes his hold up play. Two strikers will definitely be used the most, probably Rooney and Heskey as first choice. Then, you bring on other strikers and players if things are not going well. Owen isn't being taken as a first choice starter, he'll most likely be taken as an impact sub. The only problem is that Defoe could be seen as an impact sub and looks like a potential starter for England. Crouch is very good at coming off the bench and getting something, too. So, that could be your 4 strikers. For me, the main thing is that there will only be a handful of games. What is it altogether? About 8 games? So, you need to take players incase of any injuries to your first 11, and players who can come off the bench, step into a role and make a difference. This is where flexibility and impact will count. Say that England make it to the Quarter Finals, 20 mins remaining and are looking for somebody to put the ball into the back of the net. Michael Owen can do that. I think the only problem is if something happens to one or more of the first choice strikers. Would Capello start a game with Owen? Probably not. Would he be comfortable starting with either Crouch or Defoe? Probably yes. That could be a factor. The competition will go quicker than you imagine, though. It's better to have Owen and not need him, then to need him and not have him there.

[SPOILERS!!] The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Fierce_LiNk replied to Dante's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I think what many people probably overlook is that for new Wii owners this could have been the first Zelda that they have played. I can definitely say that is the case for a few of my friends. So, to them, they're seeing this Universe for the first time. I would love to have played Twilight Princess without ever playing another game before it, just to see what my thoughts would have been. For the new generation, this is "their Ocarina of Time." Lucky buggers. -
Some of his play has been pretty great to watch. He always seems to find space in the box. The winner against Man City was a testament to that. Completely unmarked. I've been really enjoying watching his movement off the ball. When he's had the ball is where he's looked a bit hit or miss. He definitely still has that killer instinct though and he knows where the goal is. That first goal yesterday, we do not see Rooney getting into those positions enough. At the moment, he's got 7 goals in total for United. 4 of those are in the Champions League, which will not harm his case for England at all. The thing you have to remember with the World Cup is that it is a cup competition, not a 30+ game league. When you consider that, I don't think it would be such a shock if Owen did go to the World Cup. He has been improving in each game, though. Some of his finishing could be better, and I'd be very interested to know what his chance-to-goal ratio is. But, the important thing is that he is getting in those positions and is looking to score. I think he now needs to capitalise on this and follow it up with more performances. He is a goal-scorer, and as long as he keeps looking hungry then I think he'll be a contender to go. Imo, Rooney and Defoe are already guaranteed to go. So, that leaves Heskey, Crouch, Owen, Cole and Bent to fight it out. It's a good problem for England, though. All of these are good strikers.

This week has been a drag. I've not had a single day's work come in, so I've just been sat here waiting for work. Schools are rehearsing for their Christmas concerts and staffers are frantically trying to get all their work done before Christmas comes around. Meaning, they're not taking any time off work. Meaning I am not needed. Gah. Plus, I wanted to gym eet up today but my manboobs are still a bit sore from my last workout. Aaaand, I need to arrange my journey to London, and to Brighton. So, that means booking ticketsssss. My pocket will be empty.

I didn't really like If You're Gone the first few times I heard it. But then, it really grew on me. I liked them very much quite a few years ago, but then they've dropped off my radar. I might have to listen to them again, as I'm in the mood now.

Oooo. I didn't hear those words in that. I heard "And Digifucker. Then I didn't get the next bit. (I couldn't make out what she was saying) Then "and did you love her." I feel embarrassed. Gah, the more I listen to this, the more the lyrics sound obvious. I need to clean mein ears.

Haha, that's a class lyric. What song is that from?

Hardest games you've played
Fierce_LiNk replied to ClassicGamer's topic in General Gaming Discussion
F Zero GX is the hardest game I have ever played. You have to be a God to master that game. It's not even "cheap" hard. The difficulty is just so, so high. One day I'm going to go back to this and complete everything. -
Check the rate your last film thread, Ashmon. The last posts. Clear disagreement. That Fight Like Apes song is pretty nice. Although, I think I was much more of a fan of the music itself rather than the singing. It would've worked nicely as an instrumental for me, heh. Bloc Party all the way. My favourite song by them, and it means very much to me.

Happy Birthday, Men. I hope you have had a wonderful day.

Shame on you. Matchbox 20 are a lovely little band. Plus, he also sang this with Santana: I love that. When I was younger, I had a bit of a man-crush on him.

It is that song, hehe. It's not going to be to everyone's taste, but generally it's rated very highly amongst Rage fans. I love it. Have some very fine memories of it. Hearing it come on in a rock club and then losing yourself to eet. Ahh. -
Rage Against The Machine Xmas No. 1 2009
Fierce_LiNk replied to or else you will DIE's topic in General Chit Chat
Here is a list of Christmas Number Ones dating back 10 years. Yes, I'm going all Dante on yo ass, with the copying and the pasting. 1999 Westlife "I Have A Dream" / "Seasons in the Sun" 2000 Bob The Builder "Can We Fix It?" 2001 Robbie Williams & Nicole Kidman "Somethin' Stupid" 2002 Girls Aloud "Sound of the Underground" 2003 Michael Andrews & Gary Jules "Mad World" 2004 Band Aid 20 "Do They Know It's Christmas?" 2005 Shayne Ward "That's My Goal" 2006 Leona Lewis "A Moment Like This" 2007 Leon Jackson "When You Believe" 2008 Alexandra Burke "Hallelujah" How many covers? How many of these are actually Christmas songs? If anyone believes that Rage against the Machine do not deserve to get to Christmas Number 1 because it "isn't a Christmas song", then where have you been for the last 10 years? You're kidding yourselves. Having Rage as a Christmas Number One is just as deserving as these past choices. From 2005 to 2009, the winner has been an X-Factor Winner. It's almost a monopoly. I think many believe that having Rage as a competitor is a "stand" towards this. -
Imo, The difference is that it's harder to hit a moving target. The Lithuanian man stayed within the same City, and the net quickly closed in on him. In Maddie's case, the kidnappers were already on the move before the news even broke. By the time the appeal had started, they could have literally been anywhere. I think Stuwii was just pointing out that "millions of people can spot this guy, but they can't spot what a little girl looks like." To me, many kids her age look very similar to her. What if the kidnapper had dyed her hair to disguise her appearance? Many things could have happened. Plus, it's not just limited to one location (Lithuania in that other guy's case). So, you're looking for a young girl who could be anywhere in the world. Not easy at all.
-
Calm down, Dan. If you look at that original article posted by the Haggis: "Outraged viewers on Lithuanian websites and international sites such as Reddit.com chased after the man’s identity, and police, with help from web users, determined the dog was dropped from a bridge in the Vilkija district in the city of Kaunas, the second largest city in Lithuania. Police said a website they identified as http://www.15.min.lt was instrumental in identifying the man as Svajunas Beniuk." So, it was combination of a few things. Being able to spot which bridge the dog was thrown from, enabling them to then determine or narrow down which City the guy was from. As the video gained notoriety on the internet, the guy had to hand himself in, or else he would have been lynched. His face was plastered anywhere. The difference with that and Maddie is that yes, her picture was shown all around the world. But, we don't know the identity of the kidnappers. There were no credible witnesses at the scene, and there have been few leads since. The difference with this is that we are shown the face of the man, we also get a good look at that bridge and scenary, meaning it was easier for Lithuanian Internet Users and the Police to close the net on him. From the sounds of things, the man also stayed put within Lithuania. He didn't try to escape the country. Meaning he was stationary. Maddie's Kidnapper(s) have fled the scene. Meaning it is much, much harder to find them. That's one possible theory, yeah. But, if the ashes have been burned and disposed of in the sea, then there's no way to prove it has been done so. I won't be surprised if this case is never solved. There's no evidence, no real leads, no credible sightings. It's a dead end. For now anyway.

I remember me and a few friends were having a little chat about this subject, and we all thought that the most likeliest explanation for her disappearance was that the parents had killed her (maybe by accident, maybe not) and then tried to cover up her death with this huge campaign. Admittedly, when we thought this, we thought "haha, that's really farfetched." But, I dunno. There have been no solid suspects, no solid sightings of the child. The whole world has been looking for her, and nobody has even caught a glance. The sightings that have been reported have been huge errors or mistakes. Is it that crazy to suggest that the parents are covering it up by detracting the attention from themselves and placing the attention elsewhere? On these sightings. I'm not saying that's my official stance on things, but it makes you wonder.
-
I think he means actually looking for the girl herself, and not the kidnappers. So, "it's amazing that they can spot the person from that video, but not find Maddie." Doesn't mean I agree with him or anything, haha. But I think that's what he's trying to say. It does help that the viewers were able to spot what City/Town that man was in from the video, so then the rest fell into place afterwards. He had no choice but to hand himself in, otherwise he would have been lynched. And rightfully so.

I like Elbow but it wasn't their most interesting song. It is one I could happily close my eyes to and relax, though. In this moment is definitely not my sort of thing. Sorry.

The pace is another one, as Neville hasn't quite got the legs anymore. But, I think Gary is too short to be playing centreback anyway. If he was about 2 or 3 inches taller, he would've been a great centre back for us. Rio and Vidic dwarf over him. Rio, Vidic, Jonny and Wes are all 6 feet tall. So is Carrick, so I'm not too surprised that he slotted in ok there. They're all pretty mobile though (apart from Carrick, imo and also Neville who has lost a yard or two). Positional sense wise, I think they're all quite strong in that department, too. I don't think we conceded a single goal from a set piece until the Chelsea game, if I'm right. So, as a rule, I don't think Neville should ever play centre half, haha. Edit: From what I remember about the Villa game last year, we had O'shea playing on the right of defence and Neville and Evans in the middle. Neville wasn't having the best of games, so didn't he then swap with O'shea? So, Neville on the right, with Jonny and...John in the middle? I'm going to have to look that up to make sure I get that right, but I think that's correct. Edit, The Sequel: Yeah...we went 1-0 up, but then Carew towered over Neville for a cross to equalise. Edit, with a Vengeance: Park is playing at right back. Fletcher and Carrick in central defence and Evra (naturally) at left back. If we don't concede, it'll be a flaming miracle. Edit, Resurrection: Wait, is it Park or Gibson at right back tonight? I think it may be Gibson actually.

Rage Against The Machine Xmas No. 1 2009

You're tough work Eevil. I'm going to start with the obvious ones, but you must have heard of Wake Up. I love that bass line. When I listen to that song, I can't keep it out of my head. And Wilk's work on the drums is so smooth and natural. Sleep now in the Fire Morello's opening riff on the guitar that carries on throughout is sexy. I remember the first time I heard that. It was my "Welcome to Rage" song. Bullet in the Head I've jammed to this song once or twice with some old school friends. This song is brilliant to listen to and play. "Just victims of the in-house drive by... We say jump you say "how high?" " People of the Sun Probably in my top 5 Rage songs. Know Your Enemy That guitar/bass part when it kicks in. It makes me squeal like a little girl. That's brilliant. How can anyone deny that? Last one... Take The Power Back I think this is the first Rage song I ever played on the drums. It's very funky. They must have been onto something good when they made this. -

You're not a Geordie, therefore you have no excuse. For anything. You're a lost cause, son. I'm disappointed. I thought you would be one with the RAGE? What is it you don't like about them? I can't get enough of them. So many memorable songs, riffs, lyrics and beats. BENNNY! SCREEEWWW YOOOUO!
