A few of the Senior kids at dinner asked if I wanted to place a bet on this. I said yes and I've gone for Wales, despite them not having a hope in hell. As a competition, for some reason I've always been more attached to the Six Nations than the World Cup. But, I'm excited for this. I only wish that it was earlier and that the football wasn't taking place at the same time...I like to focus on one sport at a time.

Can't beat a lovely cup of tea....
Fierce_LiNk replied to Raining_again's topic in General Chit Chat
Two tea-bags is craaaazy. I've also found that Dairy Milk (either original or Fruit and Nut) helps me out after a bad day. I feel much better after that and putting a film on. Avec un cup of tea. I want some chocolate now... -
I had a dream that I was lost and confused over what to do next in Epic Mickey, so I wiped all my data and started again. I don't know if that's a sign...

Today is Ine and I's/Me and Ine's 3 year anniversary. A few days ago, I poked around the old image gallery thread and tracked it back to when Jordan broke the news that we were visiting Disneyland together. http://www.n-europe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=381&highlight=image+gallery&page=414 Makes me laugh and also smile when I read the comments. Seems so long ago now, but then it doesn't feel that long, in a way. We both look different now from those photos. I'm doing something stupid in the first one...pulling a weird face.

What song(s) are you really into at the moment?!
Fierce_LiNk replied to Aneres11's topic in General Chit Chat
Loved this song since the moment I heard it. Here's the song during the part from the movie where it's taken from. I still get goose bumps whenever I hear this. It's beautiful. It sounds stupid, but it makes me proud to be human whenever I hear it, how amazing we are that can compose something like this. -
Well, I think it says it all that someone like Smalling can come in, out of position and in-experienced, and probably do the job to as good a level as Johnson can (and still get forward well like Johnson does). The guy is Bale Mk. II in the sense that he isn't really a defender. I wouldn't trust him to defend if he were playing at United, lets put it that way. I'd rather see Kelly play right back for both Liverpool and England than Johnson, so I agree with you there.
-
No you can't. I wouldn't really steal eet. I am no thief.
-
That's probably a better team, except I'd get rid of Johnson and I'm still tempted to oust Barry. I don't even think Barry does that deep role well. He sits deep, but the guy isn't really that pacey or particularly that much better in the tackle compared to Wilshere. In that team, the likes of Terry and Gerrard will be coming nearer to the end of their international careers. So, there's two big gaps to fill potentially there. I also don't really like the idea of playing one striker up front, unless the midfield are very mobile and get up to attack quickly enough.

Wales played some pretty good football. Ramsey really looks comfortable in that Wales shirt. Overall, a 1-0 scoreline was probably a good outcome for me. Keeps the English and Welsh part happy. That Earnshaw miss, however, was awwwwwfuuuul. I've never rated the guy, despite that awesome record he has. The problem with Wales is that they haven't really got somebody to lead that line and cause trouble for the opposition. The closest thing there is Craig Bellamy. England's midfield is just poor. I don't know what's happening/happened to James Milner, but the guy just looks very un-exciting and out of his depth. The centre of midfield is the problem, because Young and Downing looked like they wanted to do something, or at least looked like they could cause trouble. Is Barry really good enough to play central midfield for England? He's not even one of the best central players at City. Maybe that's just saying something about our options. Wilshere and Cleverley will hopefully be the future of that midfield.

Can't beat a lovely cup of tea....
Fierce_LiNk replied to Raining_again's topic in General Chit Chat
I looove tea, me. I drink it alll the time. I have to have sugar in eet. But, I'm trying to cut down. If I've had a bad day, I really do just come home and make a massive cup of tea and relax. My Mickey Mouse cup that I used at uni was big. If it were ever possible to replace all of the water in the world with tea, I would. -
I'm going to play the waiting game and wait for the Triple Analogue version to come out. One analogue for each dimension that we play our games in. Until then, I'll swipe Ine's, then paint her DS Lite blue and pour some glitter over it. She won't be able to tell the difference.

Monster Hunter? Fuck Yeah. I'm all over this. Triiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.

One of the School Governors caught me in the hallway and asked me if I had been on holiday to get that tan. I said yeah...Belgium. I didn't have the heart to talk about my Asianness. His facial expressions when I told him that were pretty funny. I was crying inside.

Had a pretty amazing day at work. I bought two new shirts the other day, one of which is piiiink and brightly so. I walked past it and said jokingly to my housemate "aha, what about that one?" and she said "...actually, that would look pretty good on you." So, a few days later, I bought it. Went to the gym this morning before work, got showered up and dressed, got winked at by a bloke on the stairs outside of the changing room on the way out... When I got to school, I was maybe in there for about 3 minutes and had seen 3 or so people, and had received a compliment off each of them. It was like that all day, first thing people said: You look awesome. I thought some of them might have been taking the piss, but then it was pretty much everyone commenting: the teachers (male and looots of female), the kids, kitchen staff. Mad. I even had some of the parents saying good stuff, gah. Best part of all? It's from here.

Lame thread title is lame. However... This is still a birthday thread. For two very awesome people. Both equally awesome. Not as awesome as the chicken I had for tea. Or not quite as awesome as a dancing robot chicken. That was born from a goat. I digress! Happy Birthday to Wesley and Lost Over There!

I'm worrying myself over money, particularly as my job doesn't pay well. I'm increasingly tempted to look for weekend work, but I don't really know what kind. Thinking of doing some tutoring, but not sure where to look and what the hours are like. I really just want something to help me pay off this damn overdraft and have enough to start actually saving money. Well, being in plus money, at least.

I really should put more effort into push-ups, but I find it takes a bit out of my chest-workout if I'm doing them before. Or, afterwards, I don't get much from them because I'm already spent. They're pretty useful when you haven't got access to gym equipment, so I do them sometimes when at Ine's place.

No joke, I did say to my housemate earlier that it felt like sex. "I get the same pleasure from eet as I do from cummmming." It was quite funny yesterday. It's rare you see anybody doing deadlifts in the gym I go to. Dunno why. Yesterday there were 3 of us at once doing it. Seemed funny in my head. Did 90kg, but I want to get over the 100 mark. It'll be a good psychological boost to get over that.

Well done, Mr Paul! I'm tiiiired. I went to the gym yesterday and did some deadlifting and back stuff. Bluddy killed me. Woke up this morning really early to go to the gym to do some more cardio, but got up later than I had planned, so did fuck all there. Had my first day of the new school year. The class are lovely, including one of the kids who talks shit for aaaages, but he makes me laugh. He sat next to me at dinnertime talking about dynamite for a good 15 mins. The kid is 7! After school, I'm running a football skills club, because I noticed that most of the kids are pretty crap at passing and dribbling, etc. So, we did some skill stuff then had a match for the last half hour/40 mins. Fucking knackering! It was basically 5 a side. One of the kids said to me that he had water coming out of his head. I cried! I'm pretty tired and want to sleep now, but my housemate has just come into my room and given me a home-made cake, with strawberries and ice-cream. Dammit woman, I'mma never lose my belly fat like this. Tastes like heaven. My whole back basically aches today, especially the lower back and my traps. I thought my heart was going to explode yesterday, felt awesome.

I think it's fine to prefer one/some of the games over the others. It's the same with Zelda. Actually, it's the opposite with Zelda. A Link To The Past, Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time all have the same elements, but my heart belongs to Majora's Mask. Prime was a technical masterpiece and I don't think we'll ever play a Nintendo game with the same amount of attention to detail as that. (seeing Samus' eyes in the visor reflection, the arm canon reacting when using the wave and ice beams, the water drops on the visor). It's probably one of the most beautiful games I've ever played.
-
Wut? Use your elf eyes, Legolas. I love Prime, but I connect more with the more platform-y ones like Super, Fusion and, for that reason, Other M. Prime is one of my top Gamecube games.
-
It was the game nobody really wanted. It's like...giving us Links Crossbow Training when what we really want is Majora's Mask. The multiplayer was decent but it's still so, so far away from what could be achieved if Nintendo put more effect into it. The game itself is just wrong. I remember playing the very first "mission" and thinking...what is this?! I wanted more Starfox and less Command. At least, their definition of Command.

Might be more suited to a home console, in that case. But even something like 4 vs. 4 would be amazing. Or even 4 vs. 4 vs. 4 with different teams and stuff. I'm sure it would be incredible on the 3DS, the bottom screen could have the map, stats, maybe touch-screen weapons like bombs, etc (although its probably better to use buttons). Maybe you could even have the option for each human player to control an AI Arwing/ship. Like in Rogue Leader on the GameCube, where using the D-pad gave you options, such as protect, attack, flee, etc. If that were the case, if every player had, say, an option to use 2 AI, you could triple the number of ships on screen. Would love amazing. Yeah...we're never getting this. Edit: Oh my, even better. What if you had a single player game and in that game you controlled what the other Arwings did. So, like Rogue Leader, giving options to the other ships. You could use the touch-screen for that. So, you'd be in charge of the other 3 arwings and you could select each ship individually and quickly by taking an icon. (I'm imagining 3 arwing icons on the touchscreen, then when it gets taped, it "zooms" in to give you more options, such as defend, attack, flee, guard, etc.) THAT'S what StarFox Command should've been!

Have to agree, there. I've dreamed of having Star Wars style dog-fights in space or in Corneria. A massive online experience where you have Starwing/Fox coming up against Andross' army and Starwolf. In fact, why has such a game not been created yet? It sounds a billion times more exciting and interesting than the countless FPS borefests we're subjected to instead. Every kid who watched Star Wars or played Starwing when growing up dreamed this kind of game. It's tragic that we've never seen anything like it. Nintendo are awesome when it comes to Mario and Zelda. But, whenever it's one of the "lesser" known franchises, it runs the risk of getting treated like leprosy. How else can we explain the terrible Starfox Command?

I've never completed it before. Played it a few times and found it a bit too hard when I was younger. Same with A Link To The Past. I actually played that many, many years ago before getting stuck and putting it down. I then picked it up again a few years later, got much further, but then became stuck, again. I wasn't as into gaming back then. I've only played Fusion on the GBA but am always on the lookout for Zero Mission. Super Metroid feels much bigger in scale than Fusion, but Fusion more than holds its own. I think Fusion feels more claustrophobic and there's better narration, whereas Super has more of a feeling of "Dread" (some of the soundtrack emphasises this). I would actually love a remake of II, because I've never managed to play that one either. The original got a remake in Zero Mission form, so it's only fair that II gets a remake. I think it needs it. Metroid Prime is great, but it feels very different to the 2D ones, to me. I'm not sure that I connected with it as much as something like Fusion, but it's still an amazing game. The original is lovely. The soundtrack is brilliant.
