  1. They love to troll us with that Isabelle in Smash bait and switch (*click*)
  2. Love these new artworks, from Yoichi Kotabe (I assume it's still him doing them and not someone new copying his style)
  3. And looks great in motion, love the stage flipping mechanic
  4. It's a decent enough metric. The Direct was very well received overall, and not just looking at YouTube comments, but on Twitter and ResetEra. It's ok to be positive about something.
  5. Epic trailer for the game, on account of it being ported to PS4/XBO soon... One of those rare games I wish I cold erase my memory of it so I can enjoy it all over again.
  6. Much better received than their E3 Direct... E3: September Direct:
  7. It definitively wasn't a bad Direct. You don't announce a new Luigi's Mansion and Animal Crossing in the same half hour and have it be bad. What games would have done it for you?
  8. 2019 so far: New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe Yoshi's Crafted World Fire Emblem: Three Houses Luigi's Mansion 3 Animal Crossing Throw in a Metroid and Starfox Grand Prix and that'll do quite nicely, first party wise.
  9. Wow, great Direct. Luigi's Mansion 3 + Animal Crossing announced, thank you very much!! Yoshi's Crafted World looks way better than what was shown at E3 last year too. Oh and I need those NES controllers, love how they clip on to the side of the Switch. Nice to see more free support for Mario Tennis and Splatoon (even though I have no idea what that actually was in the latter's case!) Love the new Direct format, tons of games shown off with no time wasting! Lol.
  10. Personally, I'm paying 1 quid 50 pence a month just to play a library of NES/SNES games, and whatever else they add.
  11. Personally I'd rather have it free for a year and a half than have to pay from day 1, but maybe that's just me.
  12. NES/SNES games library, and also a way of smoothing the transition.
  13. Come on. We know the title of Yoshi (still bitter, thanks very much @Dcubed), that means we've seen everthing. No sense tuning in.
  14. Oh and "most of it has already leaked", erm, not quite lol. If it's anything like the above "blurgh, not looking forward to it anymore, *sulks*", the meltdowns will be glorious.
  15. One hour after I say I've managed to avoid the leaked title, this post appears. because it was so necessary to post the game's full name. Seems done on purpose just to fuck with me.
  16. Cool. Looking forward to seeing more Yoshi (I've somehow managed to avoid the leaked title)
  17. This game's openworld reminds me a lot of Infamous... kind of shallow and boring but with a lot of manageable, if utterly mindless collectables. Seriously, I've gotten two thirds of the backpacks and am starting to wonder why I even bother. There's just no challenge, it's just "go to green map marker, press triangle". Likewise the "towers", no challenge to getting to them, just press triangle, spend about 3 seconds spinning the analog sticks and you're done. At least a game like Watch Dogs has you actually earning the tower unlocks or collectibles. Having said that I 100%'d Infamous and I'll probably 100% this, just because it seems pretty manageable, unlike something like Assassin's Creed that just gives you way too much to do. The side missions are really great though, at least the two I've done so far, and obviously the main story missions are fantastic, but the openworld... meh.
  18. It's worth pointing out that Nintendo had a pretty incredible first year, in terms of software, though that's stalled a bit lately. The first year and a half of Playstation was pretty barren first party wise/exclusive, it's only in the past year or two that the content has been flowing non-stop. Basically give it time, it takes a little while for a gen to hit its peak. Personally I find gaming way cheaper than going out. You go out one night for a few hours, spend £30-50 at least and have a good time. Zelda cost me £45 and gave me 150 hours of (mind blowing) entertainment. Obviously you can't compare enjoyment, but value wise I think games are pretty good, especially considering they're cheaper than they've ever been. Ocarina of Time on N64 was £50-60. I'm a little confused by all these posts saying games used to cost £30. Games are not only cheaper atm, the big blockbuster games tend to offer way, way more content than a decade or two ago. Similarly, you go to the cinema and spend £15 on a film (at least in London), another 5-10 quid on popcorn/drinks. That's £20+ quid for two hours of entertainment. Games takes 3, 4 5+ years to make and offer dozens, if not hundreds of hours of entertainment. I really don't see a problem with spending 40 quid on them. As for Nintendo games holding their value, it's because Nintendo games sell like crazy. Tomb Raider isn't slashed in price because the publishers want to "reward" consumers who wait, it's because they want as many sales as possible and realise that the rest of the industry is racing to the bottom, price wise, so they have to as well.
  19. To steal a line from Andre Segers... Neat!
  20. Yeah and the thread title was changed too, it's not been rescheduled yet
  21. Put a few hours into this tonight, enjoying it but I didn't realise it would be just like most other openworld games out there, towers, checkboxes of things to do, map markers telling you exactly where to go and what to do. It's all pretty cookie cutter in structure so far. Maybe the story missions will add a bit of variety. The crimes in the openworld are fun but I can imagine they're going to get very repetitive a couple of hours in. Still, I'm really enjoying it but it's certainly not blowing me away or anything like that. Hopefully gets better. Traversal is really fun. I can't agree about the polish, it's not bad but the AI seems pretty poor and I've had tons of NPCs clipping through other NPCs (including the first boss you fight).
