  1. Thanks, I guess I'll be booking tickets Tuesday morning then! I'm not going to watch the trailer, the teaser was enough for me. Want to go in as oblivious as possible so to anyone who watches it please spoiler tag anything major it reveals
  2. Game Pass, for starters. And let's see what exclusive software they reveal at E3. All those studios will be working on something.
  3. I have a feeling Sony saw what Nintendo did with the Switch's first year and will try and replicate that. Xbox vs. Playstation is reset to zero for next gen and they'll need to come out swinging and get some good will back again. Horizon 2 at launch I'd say is almost a guarantee. And God of War 2 not long after that.
  4. Just been reading a few previews, all sounding very positive so far! Cannot wait. I will say it's a little annoying it's releasing the same week as The Mandalorian and the IX prequel novel Resistance Reborn, couldn't they have spaced it all out a bit That Ltd Edition artbook looks lovely, bit pricey though for not much extra?
  5. Nice to read about how you're doing with the game. Traitor Lord and Watcher Knights were the two bosses that took me a ridiculous number of attempts too. I think I somehow managed the latter pretty early on but only after what felt like a hundred attempts. I would definitely, 100% aim for the true ending, don't even bother with the regular one, it's like a slap in the face tbh. White Palace is worth a visit.
  6. ResetEra are currently grabbing their well-used pitchforks at only "opposite gender" Pokemon being infatuated with Eevie.
  7. Well we'll find out more tomorrow I guess, and probably a couple of weeks after that too, and another pre-release Direct maybe.
  8. I know that's the reason it happens, I was just being nostalgic for a time before leaks and datamines and surprises being spoiled all the time.
  9. Weren't you complaining in a different thread about companies releasing games with no marketing, or without talking about them? There's a difference between promoting a game and revealing everything within a game. (to both you and @drahkon) There's also a middle ground between almost no promotion like in Concrete Genie's case, and revealing every gym, every trainer, all the new Pokemon, all the types of food you'll be able to make in the game, all the battle systems etc.
  10. Anyone remember the days when a game would come out, and you would actually find things out while playing it?
  11. 34th place in one of Playstation's strongest markets for an SIE game doesn't suggest it's worked particularly well. It's one part of an advertising campaign, sure, but it's hardly pushing your game or getting the word out effectively. That would have been promoting it in a State of Play, and really diving into it. Most of the thread ResetEra didn't even know it had already released or was anywhere close to release.
  12. Sticking an advert online on Instagram or a Wiki guide is a little different from actively promoting it. This was your big release in October, from one of your own studios, talk about it! It would have benefited from a game-specific State of Play (we all know those are coming eventually). I'm still annoyed they screwed Tearaway (twice), which consigned Media Molecule to spending 7+ years making another game that won't sell, Dreams.
  13. I think there's a difference between hardcore gamers and gamers who are only interested in AAAs though. I'd consider myself a hardcore gamer but I love Hollow Knight and Darkest Dungeon just as much as I loved God of War and Red Dead 2. Obviously play to your strengths, if Playstation is known for their big blockbuster exclusives then push that, but you can still do that and not send another of your games Concrete Genie out to die.
  14. I'd be very interested to know sales data for Playstation and how many out there are literally only used to play FIFA, COD, Minecraft, Fortnite, maybe AC at a push. With gaming getting cheaper and prices being cut so soon after release maybe that's having an impact on initial sales as well. I know Concrete Genie is a budget title but it'll be a tenner in a couple of months and people (myself included) have just been trained to wait. Iwata even talked about the reason first party Nintendo games don't go on sale until years later is because they have data that said people just wait, instead of picking it up at release. Case in point, I want to play Control on Xbox but I'm in no great hurry so I'll wait a few months when it's half price. Luigi's Mansion 3 though, day 1, because I may as well.
  15. I downloaded that episode, not listened yet. It's a good point, they could have waited until a gap in the release schedule, especially as it wasn't exactly time sensitive news. Maybe Sony has data that says the majority of PS4 owners out there are only interested in the big AAA games releases, but still, why settle for that, grow your market. And maybe they're only interested because that's the only thing that gets promoted.
  16. Jesus. Yooka Laylee will have sold a bit digitally on Switch at least, which isn't counted in the charts, but still. Someone needs to tell Sony it's all well and good having games like Tearaway or Concrete Genie on your console but if you're going to send them out to die and give them almost zero promotion, what's the point?
  17. Of course it's another remake
  18. Yeah I will do, thanks for the suggestions gents. Does seem a good film, love the look of it. A million times this ^. I'm amazed more people haven't gotten sick of the superhero thing yet, I know the quality is more often than not high but still.
  19. Cheers, used to watch Arlo but then his commentary started to seem a bit out of touch so I stopped.
  20. Controversial opinion, I'm sure no one will agree with, but I was never a fan of the Mario+Luigi games. They just felt really low budget, with so. much. dialogue. The last one I tried was Dream Team Bros and that bored me to tears after a few hours. But I'm weird in that I actually loved Sticker Star and Colour Splash As for Switch Online, if Arlo's talking about the actual infrastructure and experience playing games online fair enough (though I thought that was pretty much fine now, apart from Mario Maker). If he's talking about the whole package then I find it very hard to agree that £18 a year (or cheaper) for Nintendo's best of NES and SNES is a bad deal. For balance, Gamexplain's thoughts
  21. Really, I just assumed it was and stayed well clear for that reason.
  22. I forgot about this, it seems Playstation are sending another game like this out to die, yet again. Seriously, why no promotion? Would it really kill them, it's not like they've had much else releasing this year. Would have done well on Switch, maybe it'll be ported. I'm not sure if Pixel Opus are a PS studio. Certainly a beautiful looking game
  23. I tend to get all my indie games digitally and if there's an amazing one I want a retail copy of, I buy it after the fact. eg Hollow Knight and Darkest Dungeon. Too many good deals on the eShop for me to do it any other way tbh
