Because picking someone at random at the start of the game when no information is known will most likely just help the mafia... unless the neutral killer has some kind of special win conditions.

Have you experienced January/February yet? That's when it tends to be worst.

I'm not convinced that'd be any colder, to be honest - other Sheffieldians have told me Cambridge is worse.

It's so damn cold in Cambridge at the moment... and it doesn't help that the heating in my house turns off at 11pm or something, and there's nothing I can do about it. And even when it's on I need regular hot water bottles to warm my feet...

Well, they're presumably quoting someone else who did the searching, although as we saw there's no "ideal" way of doing it, so precise numbers are always going to be a little bit meaningless. Hmm, I'm not so sure of that given they don't put any in their books, but maybe.
