    You know, I don't have a preference. Pirates are damn cool, as are ninjas, but in a completely different way... As for who would win in a fight... if it was fair, probably a pirate, but otherwise a ninja would use some sneaky tactic to win.

    Which way is she writing Akira? As far as I know, there are 44 different kanji which could be pronounced that way, although some wouldn't be suitable as a name. 明 (meaning bright) seems to be the most common. Anyway, I thought Akira was unisex. Edit: Apparently it is normally used for boys, but occasionally for girls.

    You'll be between level 3 and 4 of the JLPT: level 4- The examinee has mastered the basic elements of grammar, knows about 100 Kanji and 800 words, and has the ability to engage in simple conversation and to read and write short, simple sentences. level 3- The examinee has mastered grammar to a limited level, knows about 300 Kanji and 1,500 words, and has the ability to take part in everyday conversation and to read and write simple sentences.

    I don't think I've bought anything since the Azumanga Daioh manga (all 4 volumes). Having now read it, I give it 9/10.

    I have the first volume of Cowboy Bebop in Japanese... not that I can read it. I think amazon is the only sensible place to buy manga, due to it's prices- I got all of Azumanga Daioh for £20. Some shops like Borders in Cambridge have large selections, but it's a bit expensive... Actually, if you're ever in London, the best places for manga are Gosh! comics (near the British museum) and Forbidden Planet.

    I agree with you there. However, in the time being, couldn't we at least make eva and naruto threads, and maybe even a higurashi one. (although that's only a couple of people)
