  1. Beautiful. Any indication on a euro release
  2. isn't this really, really old news? Nintendo even offered a replacement disk for those affected by it.
  3. I've got to agree. We can argue about the creative look of The Conduit, but the fact remains that Wii has only a couple of decent First Person Shooters- and only MP3 springs to mind. Regardless of its apparent 'lack' of creativity, The Conduit deserves our attention because its pushing the technical boundary and pushing a "hardcore" genre. Now, if High Voltage can pull off a 7.5 on this (which is probably a given), thats a good score- with good sales, that can help encourage more hardcore titles.
  4. Its a nice, funky idea, but maybe your right. I'd probably be quite happy with it, but others won't (wireless battery drain, hassle. Besides, its far too technically advanced for Nintendo- i'm expecting a 3.5" floppy drive for Wii (i always confuse " with ', since i'm a metric boy. Anyone fancy a 3 and a half foot Wii Drive?).
  5. My daughter who is 2 and a half has tinkered with Okami, Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart, and Zack and Wiki. By tinkered, i mean she shook the Wii Remote and something happened, she enjoyed it. But they're not games she'd fully appreciate. HOWEVER, she loves, absolutely adores the WiiFit balance games, and some aerobic exercises like jogging and step. Personally, for the wee one, i steer clear of the actual weight management thing.
  6. I'm inclined to think think that any new redesign could be a wireless storage solution for Wii. How much is a 40gig solid state drive at bought in bulk wholesale, not that much i'd wager.
  7. On one hand, there seems no sustainable income with these additional features. On the other, didn't Reggie say that the storage solution was "so much better than a hard drive".
  8. More Famitsu's than you can shake a stick at. I'm sure there's console specific Famitsu for Sony too, and as said 'general' famitsu.
  9. Mk4 Deatomiser. I want. Hopefully, the Alien weapons compare to the brilliantly crazy weapons of Turok.
  10. My understanding is that only only the director and editor have a say in the final cut. Exceptions exist (like Bond, where the producers have the final cut, incidently thats something established by Cubby Broccoli), but they're few and far between. Honesty, i don't think there are many directors who would deliberately make a film long just for the sake of it- its the content that drives it. I'd agree that there are films that are unnecessarily long, but there are long films which simply couldn't be cut any further.
  11. It should do better in the West. Hopefully.
  12. Comedy typo seems to give much joy. Anyway, for the record, my opinion of King Kong is that, yes, Jackson was riding high on Rings success, Hollywood loved him, and yes, he had nothing to hold himself back. Perhaps it was a little self-indulgent, but in all honesty it does exactly what it says on the tin, its a flawed but an enjoyable popcorn poor. Ultimately i've nothing against it. Dan Dare made the argument that long films are poorly edited, and thats plain wrong. Complain a film is too long by all means, but you can't argue that its poorly edited just because a running time is longer than your attention span.
  13. But you gave The Lord of the Rings (incorrectly, i feel) as an example of poor editing. You never mentioned King Kong at all. I'm saying 'proper editing', as you put it, is not exclusive to short films. Here's some examples of longer films which i believe have outstanding editing- Schindler's List, Ben Hurr, Dances With Wolves, Lawrence of Arabia, Spartacus, Magnolia. To name a few.
  14. Surely the controls are the most important part of any game?
  15. 'Proper' editing is not about cutting the film down, its about choosing the best shots and pacing the story. Its in a studio's best interest to have a shorter film (more showings throughout the day), they're probably far from pleased at the prospect of less showings. Lord of the Rings was edited wonderfully, as was The Dark Knight - another long film.
  16. If only more of the Wii's audience would have this attitude.
  17. Is that Cammie?
  18. Balance Board Confirmed.
  19. Thats an impressive score- they're rating it above Metroid Prime 3, which is a standout title for Wii. Metroid earned 90/100 on both Game Rankings and over at Metacritic- so judging by my logic, Disaster should prove a great hardcore title. We're not looking at a dud, guys. I'm hyped.
  20. Labour MP Keith Vaz, a regular critic of video gaming, is again taking up column inches over at the Daily Mail- only this time, its Vaz himself under the spot light. Turning the tables on Vaz's criticism of gaming being a bad influence, Vaz is accused of writing to a Judge in order to delay a court case where a friend stood to loose £400,000. Full details are over at the daily mail. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1058575/Labour-MP-Keith-Vaz-faces-sleaze-inquiry-outrageous-bid-sway-judge-behalf-crooked-lawyer-friend.html Gaming a bad influence? People in glass houses, Mr Vaz.
  21. i always wanted to own a holiday and theme park empire. Still do actually, but the small issue of cash gets in the way.
  22. It seems to me that the patent rules need updating. After nearly 2 years on the market, companies should not be able to progress claims. If a company holds a patent, it should take account of this asset and monitor it- if someone moved into your home, you wouldn't wait 2 years to file an eviction notice. Nonsense. But the sad thing is a patent judge will no doubt agree and fine Nintendo vast amounts of cash.
  23. Were there not rumours of a new Wii SKU some time ago. Since Wii is selling as fast as The Big N can manufacture, so perhaps not a major revision, maybe some new bundles? Its likely we may see some storage solution, since Nintendo have been quite vocal on the subject. Games-wise, i can't see the point of promoting post-christmas games, so Animal Crossing, Disaster, Project Zero and third party stuff.
  24. i suspect they were happy with what they'd done- and they should be- but wanted to progress into the HD market where they can do more visually.
  25. Doesn't Nintendo hold the vast majority of its own stock? I'm sure either late in Yamauchi's reign or early Iwata's the company was buying its stock back to hold back any hostile takeover bids.
