I'm not a huge fan of the speaker in the Remote, while Nintendo tooted on about adding immersion, i tend to have it turned low/off since it usually sounds appalling- far from immersive. So, whats the problem, exactly? Is it the sound file thats sent to the Remote? Is it the speaker itself- perhaps there is a method to replace the internal speaker with something a little less rubbish?

Its looking nice. I'm happy to see new IP, even if its not pushing the hardware.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl (100% Spoiler-Free Topic)
david.dakota replied to Tellyn's topic in Nintendo Gaming
oddly, my Smash Bros worked fine at first, failed to read on the SECOND attempt, and is now fine. -
For those who have participated in Gamestations Brawl Showdown, this is your place to talk about your achievement or otherwise! Taking part in the Telford showdown, i chose Bowser, and successfully hammered the others with three, yes three Final Smashes. Only to be cocky and end up -1 down (and leaving two Kirbys to a sudden death).

Update 3.3 hacked, homebrew alive & kicking again
david.dakota replied to mr_bogus's topic in Nintendo Gaming
If the homebrew community are continually hacking these updates, its only a matter of time until Execs sanction the use of Wii-breaking firmware. There are terms and conditions to using your Wii- including adhering to region locks, only using Nintendo licensed hardware and software. Nintendo is one of the most protective companies i can think of, there is simply no way they're going to leave Wii open to potential revenue loss. -
i've been offered a job there, at the jobcentre- lower mill street. However, i've got a fair distance to travel and don't want to be adding too much for parking costs. It may turn out that there is staff parking at the jobcentre, but i've not been told that yet. Yes, such a cheapskate! I'll be travelling from the Bridgnorth direction, so thats the west side... The A442 to Shrewsbury...

A little help required! I'm struggling to find parking in kidderminster for Tuesday, i've searched online and found some car parks, but no mention of a park and ride service, which would be ideal - especialy from the Bridgnorth side of town. I can't even find prices for full pay parking at the local car paks. Alternatively, what is roadside parking like on that side of town?

SD for Wii is extremely slow, but games like ExciteTruck pull MP3s and play them. As to whther this would be the same for music in GH:WT is for a more technically minded person to consider. My guess is that you'll buy access to the song, which you would stream/download as you play the game - ie, you select Song A, it downloads from Activisions own servers and you play it, its instantly removed when you've finished playing. Assuming an average file size of 3-4Mb, even with the slowest Broadband connection 500kb, it should take no more than 10 seconds to download, which is actually comparable to loading times on many Wi games. I personally think that Nintendo will continue to refrain from adding HDD/SD card suuport to Wii, instead speeding up download times so everything is downloaded within a few seconds to your Wii after selecting the channel icon, or even VC and WiiWare games streamed to your Wii as you play. Keeps it simple and intuitive.

I'm still of the belief after purchasing a Song, it'll sit on servers for you to download on the fly. Once you've played it, its wiped and to be redownloaded for next play.

THQ are really providing some promising titles. Both this and Da Blob are both on my radar.

There are a few upcoming games which promise some great story... Fatal Frame 4... The Conduit... Factor 5's Wii Game should all have some interesting stories to tell. On the other formats, developers go out of there way to create narrative (often ending rather rubbish, mind) but Wii doesn't have that many titles with interesting narrative.

Do a Barrel Roll!!: Ideas for the Next Starfox
david.dakota replied to LazyBoy's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I like the idea of adding story, and perhaps clever parody too. Controls: Nunchuk Anaolgue stick - altitude, direction. Tilt forwards - speed up Tilt backwards - slow down Z Button - Target Lock C Button - Aerial Skill (eg, click and hold C, tilt nunchuk up to perform loop-da-loop, down to quickly drop altitude and under enemies, perhaps even combining both Remote and Nunchuck for manauvers - pull up on both to enter a vertical climb and back down, tagetting particular ground based enemies, like cannons. Remote Pointer - amining (BWii-style with lock on) A Button - Fire B Button - Bomb D-Pad - Command Wingmen. - and + Button - Beam Select (ideas for beams... Gravity Beam - creates a magnetic field on up to 4 enemy ships, forcing them to crash together; Chain Beam - links enemy ships together with electrical force inducing power outages onboard, bringing them down). Some bosses can be killed easier by using these weapons. 1/2 Autopilot. Fox switches autopilot on (1), and jumps onto the wing (looking like one cool Fox), and blasts away at footsoldiers on cliffs. Analogue stick controls camera around ship, while pointer continues aiming function). 2, gets back in and take control of the ship. Some nice set peices too. How about Fox's ship is downed, he parachutes down, using his blaster to down drones? As long as out-of-ship areas are as good as the flight sections, then lets see 'em (afterall, Fox does have a blaster...)- or perhaps having a choice on some levels (take down the enemy base by Arwing, or land and stealthily take on the land forces). -

Gameplay. It needs to play right, i'll always except niggles, but the overall experience shouldn't be ruined by clunky controls. Originality. I don't want every game to be a new IP, but i want new ideas thrown in to keep things fresh. Art design. Please, anything but brown. When developer take the time to create a world, rather than a level, it shows. Vegetation, architecture; so much more important than HD or photorealism. I've believed for years that sound is a far more immersive sense than visuals. The music, the sound effects all need to help create a world. In a nutshell, its the overall package. I may take a punt on a lower rated game, if it hits some of my buttons, but overall i'm a whore to a review, but even then i'm selective about titles- they need to turn my crank.

Ubisoft "Play Zone" - New label for Wii games

A can of worms indeed. -
A classic franchise, wasted. Atari, shameful.

Give 'em chance! They've only started programming it yesterday. Should be out a week next Friday.

Or Resident Evil: Happy Zombie Chew Party.

I imported No More Heroes, but flogged it along with a freeloader. My opinion was that this was inevitable, and i'd get a better price before a block than after.

My Wi has been online for months at a time, with no problem. Yes, it does feel warm to the touch in active standby, but no serious complaints. Fingers crossed it stays that way... I suppose if your Wii has plenty of air on the right side (when vertical) that should be fine... a horizontal placing won't have the same air getting though. It wouldn't do it much harm to kick the fan on every couple of hours though.

How does Homebrew allow you to download VC/WiiWare for free?
