I seem to recall that some older Blu-ray players don't handle some of the newer disks with added extras. I even seem to recall that the PS3 was, due to upgradable firmware, the only truly futureproof BD Player. Is this correct?

Unnecessary waggle/waggling party games. If i want a sore wrist, i'll have a vigorous wank.

With 'proper' games bombing in Japan, it seems madness that publishers are not pushing them Westwards where they do seem to have a better chance. Here is a handy equation which publishers need to fully utilise. Europe + (Fragile x Fatal Frame 4) = Me a very happy bunny.

Not strictly true, the IP could quite easily be purchased from the developer. It all depends on the terms of the contract. But that wasn't really the point i was originally making, which was Nintendo should be prepping a Wii first-party shooter (thats not a Cammie, i do mean first party) Other than Bag Tossing, mentioned earlier, i've not read a single rumour on nSpace's future projects. Although, agreed a new Geist would be nice!

A franchise which Nintendo have, at least as far as we know, absolutely no plans to continue. I'd love to see a Wii-vised Geist. I really liked the Gamecube version, a Wii version would no doubt improve the controls and framerate- the two main criticisms of the original.

Nintendo has no franchise in the FPS genre, and i think its about time they invested in a quality western developer with a track record to carry out such a task.

I've always thought the idea of Dracula- as in Bram Stoker's interpretation- is just a wee bit too sexual for a game. We've got the Hammer-horror/Boris Karloff (or is that Johnson) inspired Dracula in Castlevania. Which only leaves a game based on the real legends of Vlad.

Dated for Japan. January 22, 2009. Horseradish.

Reckon i'm about half way through. I've been playing on hard, and certain combat missions are near impossible! The vast majority of my level awards are 'so-so'.

I think its standard Pro-logic which. Its certainly failing to work my sub out.

Have i missed something? Are Nintendo tunes in?

There is a noticeable difference between Disaster's cursor and, say, Mario Galaxy's. It could just be an optical illusion because of the shape of the cursor, but there does seem to be some difference. Either that or my optical nerve has a built in delay.

Moan when there's no DLC. Moan when there is. Can't we just be grateful a developer has gone the extra mile? Out of interest, whats the transfer speed from SD to Wii System Memory like?

I'm liking the game. Its an interesting story, it actually feels fresh, the cinematics are good. I'm loving the real time even camera- i've never seen that before. It has its faults which have been widely reported. The shooting bits are definately the worst part of the game (the laggy cursor doesn't help, and the complete lack of reaction to enemies being shot is abysmal). Sadly, these issues could have been fixed rather easily. The lack of PL2 is sorely missed- certainly for those with a decent set up. Although, strangely, there's some great sound design going on. The city itself seems a bit lifeless, other than a handful of survivors to save, there's on real sense of the city being lived in or the panic that would've ensured such a Day of Crisis. However, this is probably more to do with the hardware than developers' imagination. Its no masterpiece but for a few hours of escapism, its no better or no worse than alot of its contemporaries. If i were reviewing, a good 7.5. If the shooting bits were a little more developed, i think it could've fallen into the high 8s. 10/10 if PL2 were added!

To me it breaks the immersion, like a drop in frame rate or poor collision detection. Now, Prologic and Prologic 2 are matrixed into a stereo sound- but the a surround track will need to be encoded in Prologic/2. The Wii will output the stereo sound regardless, your equipment (TV, Reciever, etc) will decode and process the sound according to its specification- a stereo tv pipes all left sound to the left speaker, and right to right(and of course centre to centre). Prologic obviously pipes to left, centre, right, and rear. PL2 effectively mimicks Dolby Digital with left, centre, right, rear left, rear right, and a .1 for a sub. To cut a long story short, it can be automatic, and it can be a selectable option. Either way, if it includes Dolby PL or PL2 Dolby will be credited somewhere- box, instruction booklet, opening title. So, are they credited?

What example of homebrew software is there, out of interest? If homebrew is creating some decent aps, can't see why Nintendo can't.

Nintendo Points can be entered on either Wii or DSi, however, once they've been entered, you cannot swap them to the other system. Has anyone noticed the Wii Shop Channel lift music seems a little different?

i will be picking this up over the weekend, although the audio news is a near deal breaker.

firmware update most likely primes the Wii for voice messaging.
-
I believe sound is far more immersive than visuals, so for me, this is desperately disappointing. Hopefully, standard PL is included- it should be the base minimum for any game but honestly, this is exactly the type of game which should be testing a Pro Logic II system.

No surround at all- not even normal PL? Mental.
