First vid w/ in-game footage -

Oh wow, I'm surprised they've managed to do such a good port of this. I think I might leave this one though, as tempting as it is. Too many other things I'd rather spend 800 points on.

I'm helping my sister with her dissertation by transcribing several hour-long interviews she did about sustainable development attitudes in the alternative medicine industry. This would be more monotonous if it wasn't quite so infuriating listening to someone incoherently extoll the virtues of homeopathy 20 seconds at a time. It's like being forced to read the Daily Mail - the deeper you go, the angrier you get.

My suggestion would be - 1. Scrap the mandatory two-compound tyre rule 2. After Bridgestone leaves bring back the tyre wars with multiple tyre manufacturers 3. Introduce the 2-pit stop system 4. Scrap the qualification tyre rule I believe this would take more of the race back from the pitwall computers and give it back to the drivers - if you know everyone's stopping anyway there's no point in doing anything except sticking it out on it's ear every single lap with the tyre that gives your individual vehicle the best possible performance. Modern tyres are clearly so good these days degradation was barely an issue even with full cars on super-softs in the heat of Bahrain. What are Bridgestone supposed to do, deliberately make crappy tyres with their brand on them?

I don't normally buy map packs, at least from day one, but MW2 is a game I'd be prepared to shill 800 points to have a little bit more of. But 1200? Ah ha. Ah ha ha ha. Yeah, no.

I think too many teams were already hip-deep in 2010 blueprints and tunnel testing by the time they agreed the ban so it was best to put it in for 2011. I think we're going to wait until a few rounds have been run to see how the new regs have affected the racing - I think as teams, strategists and drivers get used to them things will start getting spikier nearer the front. Again, I really didn't think this was an awful GP. I've certainly seen far worse before these regs and before double diffusers. Anyway... I think Rosberg needs to keep an eye over his shoulder. Schumacher came in behind but I think he's still dusting himself off, I think he'll be looking and feeling like the old Schumi once he's find his setup and driving method on the 2010 model. Ferrari look terrifically strong but having to change their engine round 1 I suspect their spectacular speed could be undermined by reliability issues as the season progresses. At Mclaren I think Hamilton has proved his edge over Button - if there's a problem with the car, whether it's down force or balance he can still wring the best out of it in a way Button can't quite. Also, nice to see the F1 forum on iPlayer. I don't think they had that on there last year did they?

I'm I the only person who thought this was an OK race then? Some decent tussling going on behind the front three. I also like how you can watch race develop more easily now. Unlucky result for Vettel.
-
Surprised the McLaren's aren't closer to the front, I guess they still have some balancing issues to work out. Who knows what may happen tomorrow - the race is going to be a vastly different proposition from qualifying and anything could happen. The cars of full tanks in race trim are going to feel different, tire wear difficult to predict and someone is bound to run out of fuel at the last gasp. Should be good.

Godammit, just one or two away wins and I could be winning this thing.

Practice seems to offer almost no insight, you may as well throw a dart at the grid trying to figure out who's quickest. Qualifying is going to be a very revealing showpiece. As for Hispania they were always going to struggle a the season start having had no testing, but they've got some solid heads in the team so hopefully they can sort their problems quick. Chandok is the one I feel sorry for, new driver in a new team under a heavy spotlight at home and still hasn't turned a wheel with qualifying tomorrow. I doubt he'll be getting much sleep tonight - I wouldn't be.
-
They can release it next year for all I care, just so long as they deliver a quality title.
-
I know, but we have to try. So, anyway - how many people this time last year thought we'd ever be looking at a picture like this?

I've thrown a thread up with higher-rez screenies & info, better keep the game discussion in there folks. http://www.n-europe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26820

First F1 2010 game screen shots anyone? I'll go start a proper thread in the consoles board in a bit.
-
With big straights and tricky overtaking I'm going to plump for Hamilton to win from pole.
-
Here's a thought - If they really, really want a second Italian GP, who in their right mind would spend all that cash buying then building a Rome GP when you could just rebuild Imola?
-
I'll be OK with this if Valencia gets cut to make way for it. Watching the drivers sitting in a vat of wall paper paste playing Ludo would be preferable to Valencia, for us and them.

Jesus Christ what happened to my striker? He's got 1 form now and he's in hospital for the next three weeks! One of your players is a murderer Haden, a fucking murderer!

The idea that there is place where YOU are perceived as a negative individual fills me with a sense of incomprehensible horror and pity for the people who go there. Honest to Coolness.

I bought the 1st Just Cause and it was brilliantly fun but had aged horrendously by the time I got it. This demo is simply superb - the feeling of tearing down statues and watching cranes tumble is awesome. I also love slamming cars into oncoming traffic and fuel stations, leaping clear and then parachuting straight down to jack another one. It's just great fun up and down.
