Incase anyone is interested there is an Alone in the Dark: Inferno demo up on the US PSN store. Can't really see all the supposed 'improvements' that have been made for the PS3 port, but I do think the graphics look slightly better (if a little jaggy).

Love the demo of 'Underworld' up on Xbox LIVE. It seemed a bit twitchy at first, but got used to it especially the combat - those tigers are quite hard to kill. I think the graphics are pretty good too. Anyone else played it yet?

This should be arriving today from ShopTo on the 360 and glad to hear that you guys are enjoying it. I love Survival Horror games and was going to hold off getting this because I thought 'Silent Hill: Homecoming' was out next week (although of course now its not) so plumped for this instead. I can't wait.

Did you have a RROD problem with a Falcon (motherboard) xbox360
Columnar replied to marcel's topic in Other Consoles
I'm on my second 360. It was manufactured on 11th March 2008 so I assume it has a Falcon. Its been fine so far (touch wood) but after going through the RROD process with my first 360 (launch window model manufactured: 7/1/06), I know what to expect if this one goes tits up as well. -
I too owned all four of the last-gen consoles and for me, the Dreamcast was by far the best of the bunch. I can only imagine what the games would have looked like if the DC had had a proper life cycle, as by 2001, you could see developers were really getting to grips with the hardware and it would have been amazing to see games like Splinter Cell on Dreamcast. I honestly think the later games of the generation would have looked and played just as good as the PS2 versions. I love GameCube (even more than Wii) and it was the Resident Evil series going exclusively to GC that made me buy one. I had never owned a Nintendo console before so discovering the likes of Mario, Zelda & Metroid really blew my mind. The Xbox was OK, too many FPS for my liking although I suppose was a natural progression for a lot of DC owners because of the vast amounts of exclusive Sega games on the format, and as for PS2, well it had a hand in the death of my beloved DC so I'll leave it at that. I think what makes a console special is definitely the games and exclusives. I was (and still am) a Sega fanboy, so it was always a foregone conclusion that I would get a DC because I loved their games. The online elements were also a big plus point for me - the first time I ever went onto the internet was through the Dreamcast. I don't care what a machine looks like or who makes it - if the games I want are there, then I'm sold.

Just got an e-mail from Sony giving me a code to download the MotorStorm 2 demo! Did anyone else get it? Haven't been on here in like a week so haven't read back very far, but to anyone that did is it good? Off to download it now. EDIT: Just read my e-mail more thoroughly, and it says that if you don't get the e-mail fear not as the demo is released on PSN on October 11th.

According to CVG, the PS3 version of Mirror's Edge will have exclusive DLC. Sony says that EA have signed an advertisement deal with them which probably explains why ME's first trailer was shown at the PlayStation Day in London back in May and that online adverts for the game have only so far shown the PS3 version's boxart. About time the PS3 got some exclusive content over the 360 I say. SOURCE:http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=196390

The Last Nice Thing That Somebody Said About You
Columnar replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Chit Chat
The last nice thing someone said to me was on Wednesday night: "You're just the person we're looking for and I have great pleasure in offering you the position". I start on Wednesday! -
If this happens, does anyone think there's a chance that DOA and Ninja Gaiden II would make they're way to PS3 and stop being Xbox exclusives?

I'm scared of a lot of things but mainly: Heights, spiders, moths/butterflies and the king of them all: DADDY LONG LEGS! They absolutely terrify me - no flying beastie should be that big. I've also got a strange phobia of broken glass. No idea why, it just freaks me out. Think I'm scared it'll cut me and injure me in some way. Can't stand the sight of blood - mega squeamish.

Any chance that the 160GB bundle will contain the beautiful WHITE PS3? I would buy one again in a heartbeat.

The 160GB PS3 bundle is also coming to Europe! Apparently its launching on October 31st. Don't know the price though.

Haha - never read it described quite like that before! But I agree, it just doesn't recognise movement accurately enough for me especially when I press down on it, it always seems to think I'm pressing left:shakehead

Apparently its 'rockier' (???) than the old one according to IGN and has a deeper base allowing the pad to roll more easily. I'm quite intrigued by it cos if there's one thing I hate about the 360 pad its that god-awful D-pad.
-
Microsoft have confirmed that they are releasing a special limited edition controller for the 360 with an improved D-Pad to coincide with the release of PES 2009. Apparently this new more 'loose' feeling D-Pad will also work with SF IV. Source:http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=218894

Sega Europe have cried and the video has been removed from YouTube - the bitches! What does it look like???!!! EDIT: OK seen it now on GT - looks a bit meh just now actually.

PS3 owners! Just been perusing good ol' gameFAQS and saw that someone has posted the PAL boxart for the game from a DUTCH game site of all places. Interestingly, the Dutch say its coming out 19/09 and not the 12th? Whatever, have a look and see what you think. I think it looks quite nice:) HERE: http://www.bartsmit.com/shop/productDetail.php?menuID=1&productID=200346

Should Scotland separate from the United Kingdom?
Columnar replied to navarre's topic in General Chit Chat
Well having recently left my home country to live down here with all these English people, I must say that I'm slightly less inclined to believe in Independence - incase my fellow Scots don't let me back in:heh: But, I have to say that I think I had a better standard of living in Scotland and obviously there's more money to go around per person north of the border since there's only an 1/8 of the population, but I'm still not 100% sure either way. It all depends how my life pans out down here I suppose. If England shafts me then I'm moving home and closing the border:) -
After having loved and completed TRA on Wii, I think that 'Underworld' definitely looks like it has improved graphics and lighting. I'm more excited about the game on PS3/360, but still it looks a lot better than I expected. Oh yeah, and what's all this nonsense about Ubi Soft and 'Tomb Raider'??? Ubi Soft have nothing to do with TR - EIDOS publish it.

This whole apostrophe thing is one of those things that no-one seems to be able to trace back to. My tutors at Uni had a good go but I can't remember what they said now. And here's me with an Honours Degree in English and even I can't explain it. For Shame:wtf:
-
Well there's a 'Facebreaker' demo and some NASCAR 09 DL packs and I think a few other non-interesting things that I can't remember. Just the usual crap basically.

The PS1 version of Street Fighter Alpha/Zero isn't too bad its just that with PlayStation conversions, there was always really long loading times, animations had to be cut and although the PS pad is good for 2D fighters, it was arguably inferior to the Saturn's amazing pad. However, the sound effects in the PS version were a lot clearer and crisper than the Saturn but the Saturn had better animations and shorter loading times so they both had the positives and negatives. However, if you've never played SFA before or haven't played the Arcade versions then its still a brilliant fighter.
