The Latest issue of gamesTM (Issue 71) has a big feature about CoD: World at War and Treyarch Studio Head Mark Lamia and Senior Producer at Activision Noah Heller, went into some detail about the Wii version (get ready for huge long segment of magazine pg. 76): 'What we've seen (gamesTM) of the title is superb, and after bearing witness to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC versions of the game, our mind turns to the Wii. Call of Duty 3 was one of the first shooters to appear on the console and appealed to many because of that fact. "Man, we can definitely talk a lot about the Wii version. I mean, where do we start?" asks Lamia excitedly. "Well, first and foremost" offers Heller, "The Wii version is being developed here at Treyarch. It's a separate team from the next-gen team but it's on site. If you're going to compare the next-gen version and the Wii version side-by-side then you're going to find that it's a much closer comparison than, I think, any other Wii game currently on the market". "Yeah, the challenge with this one was 'how do we make a cutting edge next-gen game work on the Wii?" adds Lamia. "The answer is: a lot of frickin' smart engineers who've shipped Wii titles in the past. Getting the Call of Duty 4 engine on the Wii was our first challenge - which we've managed to do and it looks great - but there are also content and design challenges to consider"... "Beyond that" continues Heller, "We're really accepting the fact that the person buying on the Wii is doing so for a different kind of experience. I mean, we're going to be supporting the Zapper and, I don't know how familiar you are with the Zapper personally, but you lose about five or six buttons on that controller, so it's very challenging to make a Call of Duty game that functions well". "This is our second Wii title though" Lamia reminds us. "And there aren't many studios out there who have made two. We had a launch title, which is tough because you don't have as much time with the hardware, yet Call of Duty 3 was, for a while, the best shooter on the format. We're really using that experience. We'll be doing some unique stuff with co-op gameplay, too, but we're not ready to talk on that yet. I honestly think you'll see we're taking the Wii very seriously". Make of that what you will:heh:

A lot of people here seem to be saying that just because they're really good at a subject means they should do that subject as a degree and the opportunities will be endless for them when they graduate. I suppose for a lucky few that is what happens but NOT for everyone. I had the highest grade of my year for English, I really enjoyed it and thought that the world would be my oyster after graduating so I decided to do an MA in English. 4 years later I graduated with honours and could not find a job for the life of me because employers see a subject like English as a 'general degree' meaning technically speaking I'm not actually trained in anything. After taking a year out I'm applying to go to Leeds Uni to do a Post Graduate MA in Social Research, a course that will teach me all the ins and outs of doing research for large corporations/companies and using it in careers such as market and commercial research - something that I've always wanted to do. Sure the fees are a bitch but at least after two years I'll have a better chance at getting a job within a sector I really want to work in - Research! All I would say to people who are starting their studies this year is make sure you do have a think about what your degree will do for you after you graduate. It may seem like a long time into the future but it does creep up on you sooner than you think! Oh and for the love of God join some societies/clubs because it looks good on your CV and employers like to see that you have got involved with activities outside your studies.

Can't wait for this game! I'm a HUGE TR fan although still undecided whether to get 'Underworld' for 360 or PS3. Knowing me though I'll end up getting both and the Wii version. Just got a 360 again for my BDay the other day and playing 'Legend' again this time in HD and it doesn't look too bad. Is 'Underworld' still on for Q4 08? and my favourite TR game is 'The Last Revelation'.

Has anyone here replaced their PS3 HDD? I'm looking at upgrading my 40GB to 120GB but I have no idea about Hard Drives in general. Is it easy to do for a complete novice like me? Any help/advice would be great.

Do you like your wii as much as your gamecube.
Columnar replied to mcj metroid's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Definately love my GameCube more than my Wii which is a shame. I've even turned to the dark side and went with a PlayStation in this generation which is something I thought I would never do all because most of my favourite games have sequels on PS3 and not Wii. -
Yeah me too - getting it for my Birthday on Friday. That's after I re-buy an Xbox 360 - should be picking one up tomorrow and I can't wait. I love my PS3 but I really miss the 360 pad!

I've been looking at Battle Fantasia for a while now. I'm sure I read somewhere that its being released in the US towards the end of the year but I'm considering just importing the Jap version. Does anyone know if you can still play people online if you're using an import version of a PS3 game or do you need to have a Japanese PSN account?

Anyone here doing a Post-Grad this year or has experiences doing one? I'm hopefully going to Leeds Uni to do a Post-Grad MA in Social Research this September after vowing never to go back to Uni. Just so happens that a 2:1 MA Hons in English does not guarantee you a job!

I'm well chuffed! Both Okami & Lego Indy out on my birthday - just need to make sure I get them both as gifts!

I would love to see: Shenmue I & II Burnout Dominator (or better yet a whole new Wii Burnout) OutRun 2006 Daytona 2001 Space Channel 5 & Part 2 Virtua Cop 3 Broken Sword: The Angel of Death (since it was only on PC) and I wouldn't mind having the Resident Evil 0 port getting a PAL release either.

I think my PS3 is ill:( Ever since I updated to 2.30 my PS3 has been getting really hot really quickly. The big main fan used to only come on during certain games or if I'd been playing for hours but now it comes on after 10-20 minutes of turning it on and I'm getting a bit worried. The fan is super noisy - that loud I have to turn my TV right up to hear the game and the air coming out is red hot but the actual BD is quite cool. Does anyone else know why this might be happening? I have it standing vertically with I think, plenty of space for ventilation. I've already had a 360 red-ring on me hence the PS3 so I'd scream if my PS3 melted as well! Any help/suggestions/advice would be great.

Something weird just happened to me! I only started playing Mario Kart Wii online last night and I think I played maybe 9 or 10 games. Today I bought a Classic Controller, plugged it into my Wii Remote, turned MK Wii on and the first thing that popped up was that I was being rewarded a new Kart because I had won 50 games on Nintendo WFC! Has this happened to anyone else? I think the Kart is called the Rally Romper or something like that. Only Baby Mario, Baby Peach & Toad can use it I think.

Yeah I've noticed that. Everytime I go to play a game online I either lose my connection or there's just nobody to play against. Its getting a bit annoying:shakehead As a side note though - Happy 1st Birthday (PAL) PS3.

I got Sega Superstars Tennis on PS3 yesterday and I agree with Owen - it feels like a Dreamcast game (which is a good thing). It couldn't be any more Sega-ish if it tried. How many people are playing it online on 360 as the PS3 online play is a bit dead just now?

I've been waiting for this game for two years but I'm still unsure about this Wii version especially because the US Cube version is really quite cheap now. I wish Wii had demos!!!

Never posted in the Chit Chat thread before! But like many people on here, I'm struggling with what do to with my life. I graduated with a 2:1 Honours Degree in English last June and since then I haven't been able to get a job AT ALL. I've always loved writing and its something I was always good at at school. I had these big ideas of becoming a Journalist and writing for magazines and newspapers but it just hasn't happened for me. Because I have what is known as a 'General' degree, I'm technically not really trained in anything unless you want a good essay or letter written:heh: It really annoys me that after going straight from school at 18 to a full four year course at Uni has basically got me nowhere - I just can't help feeling its all been a complete waste of time. My Dad announced in November that we are moving to West Yorkshire and the day finally arrives on the 26th of this month. I've lived in Scotland my whole life and now it feels like I'm emmigrating - a brand new start. Kind of scares me though as I will be totally mate and job-less but I'm hoping I'll be able to get a job more easily in England and maybe get some writing published. I've always thought that there was a book waiting to be written by yours truly so you never know.

I'm selling a copy of Assassin's Creed on the bargains board if anyone is interested. As a side note is Ninja Gaiden Sigma really as hard as people say? I never bought it on Xbox because the supposed extreme difficulty level put me off a bit but I've seen NGS for £24.97 @ Tesco and I'm really tempted to get it but not if its too hard cause I know I'll end up getting frustrated with it. Cheers in advance.

How many gamecube games you have left

American NTSC GameCube games have the GC logo at the bottom of the spine not the top like we do in Europe - they're not upside down:heh: -

Scam Artists Ask "Do you still own a Dreamcast?"
Columnar replied to Dante's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I just saw this on Kotaku!!! November 27th is the tenth anniversary of the Dreamcast's (Japanese) launch so I'm expecting something may happen nearer the time but still I'm off to register. Its like getting an old DreamArena e-mail account all over again. I know I shouldn't but I'm getting a bit excited about what Sega could be planning - I hope its good! WOAH!!! Just been on a few forums and it seems like a lot of people think that this is a scam. Someone on the Sega America forums looked up Dreamcast.com and he/she says that it shows Sega Japan still own the domain name but now I'm not so sure. The site is down now anyway but I think I might wait til I hear something from Sega themselves. -
ipaul I'm totally the same - I much prefer Baten Kaitos to Tales of Symphonia! I hated that battle system and because of that I found the game quite hard which led to quite a few raised eyebrows and sarcastic comments from some people on here. I'm interested on how this new 'next-gen' version will play and look like since I loved the art style in Symphonia.

I sold my 360 in January and got my PS3 after having been anti-Sony for years. I had a few wobbles last month where I was thinking of selling it and getting a new 360 but now I'm so glad I stuck with my Sony machine. Blu-ray winning the HD war has definately buoyed up my spirits and with PlayTV coming soon as well as all the great games to come through 2008 and beyond (and hopefully the end of 360-port-itis that we saw througout 2007) I think I've made the right choice.
