  1. GAME: Zelda, Red Steel, Wii all arriving on 8th Play.com: Classic controller, RGB cable, Wii Play, Nutchuck DELAYED super monkey ball UNKNOWN Guess I'll be playing one player wii sports and zelda on launch then.
  2. Everyone gave the mods/admins bad rep, so they sulked and took it away.
  3. Having played Supreme commander for the last week or so, I don't any upgrade to the trident system would truly impress me. A meager nuclear sub is nothing in comparison to a submersible aircraft carrier or flying battleship.
  4. One of my friends told me about cube-europe after i got my cube as a good place to get info. He was right, never joined the forums (or knew they existed), just visited the site alot for a few years. Decided to join the forums when you changed over to this site. And now im here, for better or worse.
  5. My wii gets delivered to my house on the 8th. I get to my house on the 14th. Six whole days of know its just sat there, unused, unopened, unloved.
  6. eww stats, thats not a nice branch of maths
  7. I'm so going to break my house with this thing
  8. Anyone else get the amazing email telling them that their pre-order had gone down by 1p or 2p from game?
  9. hmmm, Im not sure i like that way, it would require you to be able to work out distance from a IR signal. the time thing is right, but how do you work out time, a pulsed signal (too short time interval between pulse will cause larger angles and further distances to be wrong, too long a time causes lag between motion)(though if i worked it out im sure theres probably a large band of suitable frequencies). from a constant source you cannot work out a distance, unless your measuring the aplitude shift between the two signals (in phase=directly infront of the bar) however that messes up when you in a position that has a full wavelength difference between signals (think 2 slit interference) It depends on how good the sensor in the wiimote is, the preferable way is to treat the "sensor" bar as two fixed points, a known separation. knowing the position of the two two points (from the wiimotes reference frame), will allow you to track where you're pointing the wiimote in relation to the bar accurately. the distance apart the two sources are will give you a measure of distance/angle (perspective, further apart=closer or more perpendicular angle). The position of the fixed points, it can also give a value for tilt, if the points are at an angle, then the wiimote must be, as the bar is fixed. however that all requires an a fairly decently sensitive IR camera, which by the look of IR signal from the wiimote (they were posted somewhere, it does). Anyway the IR part is used for accurate pointing, rather than guageing distance, so if anyone knows exactly how it works feel free to share it with us. The most accurate and useful bar would be a 3 point triangle, with that you could guage pretty much any pointing angle to the bar very accurately, and position relative to the bar (angle and distance).
  10. Right, I can get you to the z=cos(b)/(1-sin(b)) fairly long windedly so stick with it. I'm not sure what to do next, but it is 5am in the morning and im slightly tired. Right here it goes: (oh and i'm using i instead of j, i'm not an engineer) z=(i+a)/(ia+1) a=e^(ib) z=(i+e^(ib))/(ie^(ib)+1) dividing through by e^(ib/2) z=(ie^(-ib/2)+e^(ib/2))/(ie^(ib/2)+e^(-ib/2)) putting in terms of cos and sin z=(icos(b/2)+sin(b/2)+cos(b/2)+isin(b/2))/(icos(b/2)-sin(b/2)+cos(b/2)-isin(b/2)) this simplifies: z=((1+i)(cos(b/2)+sin(b/2))/((1+i)(cos(b/2)-sin(b/2)) z=(cos(b/2)+sin(b/2))/(cos(b/2)-sin(b/2)) multiplying top and bottom by the denomenator z=(cos2(b/2)-sin2(b/2))/(cos2(b/2)+sin2(b/2)-2cos(b/2)sin(b/2)) z=(cos2(b/2)-sin2(b/2))/(1-2cos(b/2)sin(b/2)) using double and half angle identities (whichever, i cant remember) z=cos(b)/(1-sin(b)) what you do then is up to you. from the roots of unity part you know that: b=2*pi*x/n where n is the n at the start and x=0,1,2,3.....(n-1) (giving you all the roots) if I were you I'd leave it at that unless you can simplify it anymore. Hope that helps, I'm sorry the forum isnt very clear for mathematics so if you dont get my notation just ask.
  11. I offer my heart-felt apologies that my last two posts did not meet your rigorous standards in the art of communication. If you have any tips on how to make my posts wittier or of a more intellectual nature, feel free to PM me. I will be more than willing to ignore them. Yours apologetically, Ginger_Chris
  12. Technically the wiimote senses where the bar is (and so the position of the tv), so the wiimote is the sensor and the bar is the thing its sensing. The bar doesn't sense anything, it just emits a constant IR signal.
  13. Question, why are we still calling it a sensor bar when it contains no sensors? Surely a better names would be; infra-red emitting bar Infra-red bar or the ever catchy "IR Bar"
  14. Anyone else get the feeling solitanze was a mod in a previous life?
  15. i wont care at all wether my RGB cable arrives or not, all ill be caring about is about is using the remote for the first time and playing with my new wii.
  16. ok the carton has dimentions x by 2x by h? then: A= 2(x*2x)+2(x*h)+2(2x*h)=6xh+4(x^2) there has to be a h in the formula, is h a function of x at all? for that formula that you have to show the carton isnt a cuboid, and you need more information (like its shape, or a formula for its shape), h doesnt seem to be a constant. Anyway, i have a decent enough knowlege of calculus so send the pm.
  17. Circumference of circle= 2*pi*radius or pi*diameter
  18. And it rubs the lotion on its outer casing, or its gs the hose again.
  19. Actually, dogs can easily get loose even when the owners try their best, we live on a 60mph road so obviously making sure the dog doesnt get out is a major priority. But one day some kids let off some firework near our house, and our dog got scared and jumped over the 6 foot gate we have (impressive feat for a jack russel). She got hit, whos fault is that, I certainly dont blame the driver if a dog runs out onto a road like that (the driver stopped and brought the dog back). Anyway I know loads of people who look aftertheir dogs well and they manage to escape. Oh and the driver that hit the dog actually broke the law. technically its illegal to hit a dog (or horse, but i doubt you car would be in good enough nick to carry on) and not stop. This isn't the case for cats though.
  20. Mario rpg (It was so good last time i played it) Super mario 3 (best game ever produced ever) Marble Madness (maybe i can complete t this time) Mario 64 (cos i havent played it and really should)
  21. hmmm, good question. My first Mii is so being called Ginger_Chris (they better allow underscores) But my Wii.... Ginger_Chris's personal plaything?
  22. Have you learned your lesson about downloading things illegally? It may seem like fun and games but theres always repercussions. Its not big and its not clever. Now, how much data do you actually need to backup, because it sounds like you've only had the PC for a short while, so i'd expect you'd only need a few word documents of coursework maybe. That comes to about 10Mb max. Any photos you've put on there maybe. 3gb max. All that can fit on one DVD easily. Anything I forgot? If you want to back up all the games you downloaded illegally, or all the illegal music, then i feel that you just don't learn. Everything you legitimately download should be easy to download again. From program installers (msn, firefox, media player etc) to the legit music you download from itunes store or whatever (its all saved soyou download what you bought again). Shouldn't take more than a day to download. Start again, with as little as possible. Dont download anything illegal onto the reformatted system, and if this happens again then post here again. until then, have fun burning that DVD.
  23. aaaaaawwwwwwwwwww i feel for you, thats a pretty rubbish situation to be in.
  24. tesla coils are technically real, do a quick search on google. they just don't work exactly like they do on cnc. A quick vid, theres probably better around: http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/tech-gadget/35-million-volt-tesla-coil
