The whole issue in that thread was that very few (if any) people were suggesting the games as they are on a home console, but rather various varieties of epic RPG/MMO/adventure title, so you were debating a completely different thing to everybody else for the first ~5 pages of the thread. Indeed, King_V's opening post discussed the games like XD, Colosseum and Snap and how to build on those. Reread the first page of it - a few people used words like "a real Pokemon game" - but if you read the rest of those posts you see that all are suggesting enough changes that by your own definition later in the thread wouldn't be qualifying as "the games as they are". I refer you to my previous post about the circular arguments.

I'm fairly sure that every single person in the thread has been suggesting something more than a direct copy of the 2D games into a 3D home console game. The point is the home console would have the additional power to create a proper open world adventure game more akin to something like Skyrim or Dragon Age, to give us a new kind of gameplay - possibly not even turn based at all - in the Pokemon universe. There is so much untapped potential for something like this, and as can be seen from this thread, so many different ways to do it that the biggest stumbling block for developing such a thing would be figuring out where to start!

I think a Guild Wars style for any hypothetical MMO would work best - towns/cities include interactions with other players while all the quests etc take place in instances for each team. I simply don't understand how anyone could not be in favour of the idea of a Skyrim style home console Pokemon game... but I also know that it will never happen.

Aww man...I should start playing mafia games again. I won't be too out of date on the tactics and psychology of the whole thing if I come back now will I? To keep this post on topic: God damn @Ashley stop being hitler and shit.

Muwahahaha. Everybody should just listen to me all the time and there'd be no issue. Edit: Just edited my sig for the first time in ~4 years.

Every so often a level pops up with just a great mechanic behind it, that is just a joy to play. In between you get some duller levels, but they aren't exactly bad - just not as joyous as some. I particularly enjoyed the chain chomp level which I think is early World 3 / late World 2. The other small touch which stands out for me is that the platforms / pipes etc that get filled in with yarn balls appear in the same colour as the yarn you threw. I know that sounds like a no brainer / not particularly special but it brought a smile to my face. I'm up to the end of World 3 now and enjoying this so far - much better than a cookie cutter NSMB or something for sure.

Careful guys: I think we are getting dangerously close to this. Unless you were talking about Justin Bieber having number one singles, or the weird millions who seem to think Darts is a real sport that should be taken seriously *For goodness sake, nobody take this post seriously. We are still allowed to poke fun when it's all in jest, right?

Wow, what a thread. Can't believe I just read it start to finish - only took me about an hour and a half. Here's my input, for what it's worth. I like the idea of this thread - it's high time this stuff was brought up properly. I agree with a lot of what people have already said: eg flameboy, Agent Gibbs, Dcubed and others. I don't post here a whole lot these days, and never really did for all that long except some shortish bursts, but I do tend to lurk and read a lot particularly of this board and the general board. Since I don't have any other consoles though I tend not to venture further down the list. When I do post, it tends to be short remarks / questions rather than essays (like this one!) because I just don't see the point in taking the time to write a decent post. I think I would post a lot more interesting stuff (or at least, more often) if the atmosphere was a bit friendlier and had some more constructive discussions rather than everything descending into the same arguments over and over. I definitely think if the arguing stops, the quality of posts will pick up, and maybe the community will start to grow again. I bought a WiiU about a year ago, having been out of the gaming industry loop for a couple of years (mostly I just needed the new Smash...). I obviously started reading the Nintendo board again, starting off of course with the WiiU General thread, but I stopped reading that thread a long time ago as it was just constant bickering. In the other threads, occasionally genuine good gaming chat appears (honourable mention to @Grazza who has thrown some good stuff in the mix recently), but it tends to require wading through pages of moaning, usually at each other, to get to, and so the energy to respond is sapped. I do wonder a bit how some people have managed to survive this long with posting privileges in tact, to be honest. I was going to point specifically to some people here, but I don't want to - we all know who they are. However, I think maybe maximum one or two people are actually being intentionally disruptive at the moment. In other cases, most often the disruptive posts tend to mostly be down to poor wording. I am often accused by my friends of being "sassy" in our Whatsapp group chat, because the wording and the intended meaning do not always line up properly when the context / body language is not available. It's also easy to forget that there is a person behind the avatar (contrary to popular belief, I do not look like the guy in my avatar. I only the other day noticed that I still had that image there - it was like a random joke image that I have just never thought to change in years!). People have their quirks, and I have found that in a community of geeks/nerds such as on a Nintendo fan-forum like this, it's pretty likely we are going to be an odd bunch So cut each other some slack from time to time and maybe we will all get to know each other a bit better and be able to understand and communicate better not only within N-E but in the wider world too. I think the solution is two things: firstly, I think having this thread and this discussion will hopefully help people see where the problem lies and how/if they contribute to it. Hopefully people will adjust their behaviour accordingly. Secondly, a period of tougher moderation will shut down the nonsense, and those who do not take heed of the first part will end up getting themselves banned and have nobody to blame but themselves. Hopefully though it won't come to that, for anybody.

No Yoshi from GAME today

Not sure why but my forum seems to have defaulted off of the stretchy theme and I can't find the option to put it back on. In my head it was at the bottom of the page but I don't see it there or in User CP - how do I get it back?

The reason people are so disappointed I think is because there is a mix of completely missing IPs (FZero, Advance Wars) and IPs we want but not in the right form (a weird Metroid spin off on 3DS instead of a WiiU Prime, an amiibo Animal Crossing party game instead of a proper entry, Paper Mario but not really...) and it's all just so underwhelming. Like, I really don't understand why they haven't made a 3DS Advance Wars, or why a proper AC hasn't appeared in favour of these weird spin offs. Star Fox is the only proper entry to a major series and if people are underwhelmed by that there isn't much else to go on. The other two big games I saw - Mario Maker and Yoshi's Wooly World - both look fantastic but theres nothing new from either of them in what we saw today and they are both out very soon so there's not a great deal to look forward to!

This game will be fantastic if the level sharing mechanisms make it easy to find the top levels from the community. Some kind of tagging system to categorise the levels people make perhaps, to separate out the Ikaruga-esque levels from the traditional levels for example. Being able to find the great creations will be crucial.

Ryu in Smash is really exciting for Nintendo - presumably this also means a Street Fighter is on the way for WiiU? I definitely need to buy Lucas since he was my favourite character in Brawl, and I will probably get Ryu too...might as well just download Roy and Mewtwo while I'm at it.

Football, sports, shoot the ball score the goal, etc.

The most important question: does it feel like a sequel to Yoshi's Story?

Space Mountain x Rainbow Road plz

I think the main reason Nuts&Bolts is disliked is because it started out life as Banjo3, then became a like a sort-of-remake of the original with a just enough differences thrown in as to be a new game, then eventually it morphed into Nuts&Bolts. The Nuts&Bolts concept was great, and as a spin off of Banjo I enjoyed it, butI think it could have been its own IP and been possibly more successful. Had I never been promised BK3 I probably wouldn't begrudge it slightly

Dudes I am nerdgasming so hard right now. I've put down £35 so far but will probably up that to £70, maybe £90 for the tshirt. The music! The hums and haws as they jump around. Mine cart levels as a stretch goal! Aaahhh

Oh it does? Sorry I didn't know that Regardless, the point was that theres no need to wait for official ones to come back in stock. It does seem bizarre. I think it was more of a concession to the competitive Melee scene - Nintendo have certainly been much more receptive to the streaming and tournaments of late - and thus it was more of a case of having that functionality in the game. Sales of the adapter weren't a huge concern I guess, and maybe manufacturing other things like Amiibo or other hardware takes precedence.

If anything, it's superior to the Nintendo one, because it also allows an option for connecting to PC. Handy if emulators are your thing.

I'd never heard of this series before, but that looks fun in a Puzzle Quest-esque way. I'll probably pick this up after I'm done with uni!

Apparently there's a new sound file added in the patch... Audio Hype? Source:
