Soon as I saw that post by Kurtle I knew it was going to be a female member, before I'd even seen the video

Tonight I met someone AWESOME. I'm in Dundee for a training course and so took the opportunity to meet up with a mate from uni that I haven't seen for a couple of months. Went out for a few drinks, got quite tipsey, then he got a text from his school friend to go meet them at a pub just down the road. This friend happens to be female, ridiculously gorgeous, and ruddy awesome. He described her as his "best friend", that female friend that I think every nerdy guy has that is more like a sister thing. But my immediate impression was that she was exactly my type of person. She just had the kinda chat that I immediatley click with. She's starting up at the same uni as the two of us this September, and we made this kind of "bet / deal" thing that basically involved us meeting up once she moves to Glasgow. I got the impression that I had a real shout, as she seemed like she had just the same enthusiasm for the idea as me. We bailed early as I have stuff to do tomorrow morning that requires me not to be stinking of booze, but as we left she insisted that I added her on Facebook and that we would chat and so on. My only slight concern is that from the chat I had with my friend it seems as if he is describing it as a "sister" thing just because thats how she sees it, and that actually he really likes her - and I know that feeling, cause I have a girl just like that back home too. So I don't wanna step on his toes. Basically I'll see what happens in the next few days with whether she starts chatting to me on Facebook or not and evaluate whats going to happen, and if something seems on the cards I'll talk to him about it first. I don't wanna be that guy who takes girls over his mates...I've done something similar-ish (but not really) recently where a misunderstanding caused a rift between me and a good friend because of a girl, and I don't wanna risk that happening again here. So I'm gonna be sensible about it but in my fairly drunken state I'm basically seeing something potentially good on the horizon (even despite the fact that I'd decided I wanted to be single for a while and enjoy myself...as usual, when its not wanted, it creeps up on you!). So I just needed to vent it somewhere, outside of my friends who might know him! So thanks, N-E. /rant /drunkGizmooverandout

I call shotgun on Matt Damon.

The BBC couldn't drop F1 completely, I'm pretty sure that the British GP at least is on that protected list of things that need to be on free-to-view channels. But its such a stupid deal, I for one can't afford to dish out for Sky Sports and so my interest in the sport will decline simply because I can't watch half of it!

Think I'd basically react exactly like you, Rummy. Try to ignore it at first, but eventually I'd probably turn round and have words. I'd never throw the first punch, but I'd hope that they did just so that I would be justified in smacking them back. I think the main reason for my "never start it" rule is due to fear of concealed weapons, though - if they punch you instead of threatening you with a knife, they probably don't have a knife. But if you punch them first, they may have just not gotten round to pulling out the weapon yet. Also, having a female in tow my first instinct would definitely be for her safety over my own, in that I wouldn't do anything to make matters worse / more dangerous due to her presence. But also, I may be more inclined to take action if I feel it's for the sake of protecting her...chivalry is a weird one. Especially when drunk I get super protective of my female friends, to the point that I'm probably annoying about it at times.

In my car I use mp3 CD's for my music. I tend to just reuse the same CD-RW, adding or removing the odd track every now and then. Yesterday, I noticed that track 4 wasn't being read properly and it skipped straight to 5. After trying a couple of times to get it to play track 4, I gave up and assumed the disc was damaged. The next time I turned on the engine, something odd happened: the CD played the previous version of its data, ie I had re-burned the CD to change track 1 and some others, but it didn't play the most recent version, it played the older (now over written) copy. I noticed this immediately, and thoughti t really strange - I couldn't explain what had happened. Then, the next time I turned it on, it went back to the most recent version of the disc, and suddenly, track 4 was being read fine. I've never heard of CD-RWs doing this before...it fully played the previous configuration (including playing songs that I had since deleted from the disc), for no apparent reason, and then reverted back again. lolwut?

I'm so ridiculously bad at styling my hair. I prefer having it short, and sometimes when its wet / randomly / whatever it will style itself into something awesome, but most of the time when I do it deliberately it looks crap. And so I don't bother styling it, and so I let it get longer to avoid having to. (though it never gets THAT long...soon as the fringe touches my eyes, I cut it short again). It's always completely straight, so unless I do something with it when its short it looks a bit rubbish.

This thread seems like a good excuse to post this video of me:

Its funny, cause as soon as I saw the name of the user who posted this thread I had predicted its entire contents. 1) Dubious hellos and welcomes with many sceptical 2) ReZ denying it was him 3) Tits or GTFO Someone let me know when we get to the part where Rez posts a video of "Claire using the site" and when Claire stops posting here ever after a maximum of 10 posts, 50% of which will be in this thread.

I'm meant to be doing this thing on Saturday (a coaching course for trampolining, if anybody cares). I signed up for it a good 3 weeks ago and sent off my payment cheque and everything. Then on Monday I get a phonecall out of the blue from someone at Scottish Gymnastics (a famously useless organisation, that are meant to be the ones organising the course) telling me that it was fully booked and I didn't have a place on the course. Even though I had applied 3 weeks previously and had spoken to someone from the same department not 4 days before. Despite my moaning, I was told there was nothing that could be done, and that they would contact me when another course was being done. The problem with that is that I need to have done this course by March, so that in March I can do the second level course. If I don't, then next September there will be nobody suitably qualified in my Uni club to run sessions. Therefore = no uni club. Even though we are the 2nd most successful sport at Glasgow (we won our national champs this year that covers the entire UK). So instead of taking no for an answer, I decided to go around Scottish Gymnastics and contact the guy running the course directly, as I know him in passing from other stuff. Funnily enough he had no problem with me being on the course and told SG to put me on it. Thus many grovelling emails are bandied around from them and I'm getting on it afterall "to ensure the survival of the university club". Exactly like I told them in the first place. /rant But hey, I am now on it, and all is well in the world! TL;DR : Never take no for an answer. You don't ask, you don't get.

This is what I was trying to say on the previous page.

If the relationship (in terms of being bf/gf) is working, then you're friends anyway. The only difference is, you can't have sex with your friends without them complaining about it. If you don't consider your girlfriend to be your best friend then whats the point? Thats not a girlfriend, thats a fuck buddy. Which is fine, but its not a relationship really.

I am slowly dying in a Hayfever induced hell.

Today I got a call to tell me I'm getting 50% funding for my training course this month (to become a Trampoline / gymnastics coach). Best bit: they couldn't contact my reference as he's out of the country, but they decided I'm so awesome I deserve it anyway. Also, my reference is a friend of mine (our team Captain) who fell out with me recently and I'm not sure how enthusiastic he would have been about me. Timing win!

No socks means sweaty feet on the bed...not good. Also, I go through a pack of socks every month of so...I'd rather have holes in my socks than the bottom of my feet. Standard trampoline attire (for competitions...not everyday.)

Last year at a uni sports thing we got interviewed for a local paper. The quote they ran with was "Trampolining is definitely a real sport. It's in the olympics and everything" It was a student competition in Dublin, and all the Scottish lads decided to get ourselves noticed. I'm not entirely sure why... Anybody who ever gets a chance to try it, do it! Alot of universities have teams that you're free to wander in to and give it a go. The student circuit is awesome fun!

Since a) I haven't posted a photo for a long while b) we are talking about awesome sports to take up and c) I simply love this photo: Anybody else ever done any serious trampolining? I'm not talking back gardens, I mean the real thing :p Btw, trampolining is not normally done in tiger pants, this was simply a special occasion

I cant help but feel like Dunn himself would have absolutely loved the fact that there are conspiracy theories surrounding his death.

My legacy seems to be that of shirtless Facebook pics. In the last week or so I've had 3 people (that I hadn't seen for a while) comment on my regular lack of clothing. Apart from that I'm not entirely bothered about a large, lasting legacy. As long as theres a few people who's lives I've touched (a best friend, a wife, a child) I'll feel its been successful. As far as ego goes, as a Physicis student I'd quite like for there to be some law/quantity/theory named after me, but I very much doubt I'll ever make a particularly lasting contribution given how competitive the field is. Plus I'm not even sure research is something I want to pursue...
