  1. Well the point is, paedophilia and homosexuality are both terms used to define attraction a particular subset of people, despite one being considered morally wrong. That is why they were compared, as paedophiles may well know what they are doing, so possibly are not mentally instable.
  2. Because mental instablity and paedophilia are more unrelated. One suggests someone can't look after themself / self-harm, the other suggests one who likes children. Homosexuality refers to sexual attraction, as does paedophilia. Even if morally speaking, one is very wrong while one isn't.
  3. Considering genes make up for every cell in our body, including those in our brain, in some way the genes that encode us must allow us to have certain attractions - and if our attractions are a result of the environment, this is still the way in which the environment acts on a product of our genes. In short, we are completely coded from our genes, so even if the environment is responsible for our thoughts and attractions, the way in which we all are different to each other despite some people leading similar lives is somewhat down to our genetic makeup. I don't think there are any genes you could say are 'gay genes', but genes that affect personality and the way we react to the environment are certainly key.
  4. Yeh, with the hole in the ozone layer over Australia it wouldn't be good for us pale-skin pigmented people to live there. It still a lovely country though, and I wouldn't mind visiting it for a short while.
  5. Reminds me of this guy who was getting picked on once at school. He came out with a line of pure brilliance: "Friends? I don't need friends, I'm a POKEMON MASTER!"
  6. You're fully aware of what you're doing. It's not like you don't know right from wrong, just because of the upbringing you had. You're just making excuses for why you choose to act selfishly and like an arse. The funny thing is that you think people care that you've been 'hard done by'. Save the sob story for someone who cares.
  7. UK has 600k more women than men? Could that be to do with men dying earlier? Interesting figure, nonetheless.
  8. I remember being in a horrid brown coloured bathtub that we used to have when I was probably around 5 years old. Strange how I remember that and nothing else apart from the first day at school until about aged 8.
  9. When I was younger I wanted to be a food taster or video games tester. Possibly even both at the same time. I would say so far I am pursuing this career somewhat successfully. :p
  10. I would love for this whole thing to explode in his face. Namely him getting arrested or something.
  11. Cut them with knives, not spoons! You're doing it wrong! Nah, you're not truly emo until you announce that you will no longer be using one of your eyes, by choosing to shield it from the light with that odd kertain-rich substance. :p Edit: *rechecks* Oh shit, you actually did that! Oh err... BANANA HAMMOCK! (runs)
  12. I quite like the site too...might order a few things from there. YOIIISH!
  13. Which frankly proves he's an idiot or he's lying.
  14. Oh well each to their own, I still think all games have a long way to go with storytelling and they don't match books. On another note I got my Fable 2 pub games code today. Time to try them out.
  15. Show me a game with good storytelling and quote some in-game words. As far as I can see just about every game is full of cliches, and will never be on a par with books. That's why I'm talking about the story in comparison to other games. The script really isn't that bad. I think you are just too overly critical.
  16. The voice acting changes the way you perceive the scene. If you watched anime you'd know long, drawn out scenes are nothing out of the ordinary. The writing isn't all that bad for a game.
  17. With Japanese voices it seriously isn't that bad. Plus, you haven't been with the story up to that point. Obviously the story of a game isn't going to rival a book, but it this scene with Japanese voices is nothing to sniff at when compared to other games.
  18. Err...that's what the English subtitles are for. :p Even if you can't understand the actual speech, only a silly nanny would listen to both the English and Japanese voices and come to the conclusion that they were probably the same in quality. You don't need to understand a language to tell if a) the voice does actually sound quite cool, and b) there's a depth of emotion being channeled into the voice. It's like people who listen to music from another language. Because they don't understand it, do they just presume it sounds good? I think that was a bit of a weird comment to make. :p The English voices in this game particularly are performed by some bad voice actors. Some are ok, but the majority aren't. You could probably turn audio off for a lot of things and the subtitles wouldn't sound right. Generally speaking, games that are more cinematic have pauses or are crafted in a way that doesn't always seem normal when simply reading the subtitles with no sound. I guess a great example of this would be the highly cinematic MGS4. Yes, ES has some cliches, but compared to many RPGs it comes off lightly. The story (which is the most important thing when evaluating the writing) follows Chopin who is drifting between death (this is written on the back of the game box, so not a spoiler), certainly not a cliche by anyone's books. And I take my hat off to the game for that. It's not just some half-arsed Tales series story approach.
  19. Don't you have any morals? It seems lately like you'll fuck people over out of whim.
  20. I think people would rather be in debt a bit longer than spend a couple of years in a shit house and area. For many people, it's about the experience.
  21. Hang on, I've just seen that bit in the game...what's wrong with that? Edit: Do NOT use English voices for this, they are terrible, as they are with many games. That scene is actually pretty epic with the Japanese voices.
  22. Definitely not bad writing. As far as the story goes, it's better than most out there. The story and visuals would be some of its stronger points, while dungeon design, voice acting (English), repetition etc would be its drawbacks.
  23. Anyone here played Eternal Sonata? I'm pleasantly surprised, as I didn't think it would be that good. I liked the demo so bought it new for a tenner. The battle system is quite like ToS, expected really since it's a Namco game.
  24. It teaches life's most important lesson...to get far, you've got to shit all over the little guy. Marvelous!
